Dark side PT Cruiser
peteski replied to Redisetta's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Must be really hard to wash that thing. Forget waxing! Must use touchless car wash. -
And I'm *VERY* offended by the extreme steps we take today not to offend anyone!

Max 2K Clearcoat Gone Wrong
peteski replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That will work if the model is a metal diecast, but I'm pretty sure that if the model is plastic or resin, Aircraft Stripper will melt the body! Only plastic safe strippers should be used on plastic, and resin might be even more troublesome. -
On man! I loved Benny Hill when I was in High School. I have watched Mr. Bean, but for some reason I find it a bit too silly sometimes. But I like Are You Being Served, and Keeping Up Appearances. I also liked to watch One Foot In the Grave, but I have not seen that one for years. Vicar Of Dibbley was also a funny show I have not seen for years.

Interstates in New Hampshire have minimum speed posted, just like on this sign. So I guess you could get ticketed for going too slow. I don't have that problem. Funny, I never seen minimum speed limit posted in Massachusetts. But in Mass the overhead electronic billboards on the highways sometimes remind drivers that the left lane is for passing only - not a travel lane. Speakign of irks, today I pull out from a side street onto a main 2-lane street (posted limit 40 MPH). There was a Jeep approaching but was far back more than enough (probably 20 or more car-lengths) that i pulled out onto the main road, and started accelerating. He was not going very fast either - probably the speed limit. It is not like I cut him off. He was safely in the distance. Well, that assclown started speed up to catch up to me. I speeded up (quite a bit over the speed limit - road was clear ahead), and he kept closing up on me. I never let him catch up to me. He ended up taking a right onto a side street. This is not the first time I have encountered this type of behavior. As if me getting ahead of them is some sort of persona insult? I suppose I could understand if I pulled out in front of him, then drove really slow. But no, I accelerated to way faster than the speed limit, and he kept on closing on me. Some people suck!

You got me curious. How exactly did he trigger the airbag to go off? The sensors are in the nose of the car. Hard braking will not trigger it - needs to be an impact (a very sudden deceleration)! So they had the airbag blow up in their face? it is a controlled explosion and the airbag fabric gets really stiff when inflated by the exploding gasses. It can break the driver's nose.

I don't think you're weird - I like those shows too. There are many others here enjoying British comedies. Flowery Twats was a brilliant show - too bad there are only 12 episodes. Of course this type of a show (just like All In The Family) could never be produced today.
-
Thanks guys - now I don't feel too weird for watching many of the old shows ('50s to the early 2000s) mentioned here by others. I thought it was just me becoming an old mushroom (but I'm heading in that direction). Nobody has yet mentioned I Love Lucy, The Twilight Zone, or Perry Mason. The original Mission Impossible is also a cool show. My secret guilty pleasure is an occasional Leave it to Beaver, or the Donna Reed show. They are sappy and depict the fantasy "ideal American families" which I find enjoyable. Then there are The Monkees. The show is very silly, but I like the music. And of course, speaking of the campy stuff, the orogina Batman. POW! ZAP! ZING! Then there are The Three Stooges. Then while not actually on broadcast TV, I also watch DVDs of British shows, like Are You Being Served, Keeping Up Appearances, or The Avengers (the Diana Rigg episodes of course), just to name a few. Space-1999 is also good.

Absolutely! But in that incident was blocking the air/vapor flow. That makes sense. Electric conductivity was not the problem. Like I mentioned, I just don't understand how a silk web could conduct electricity to cause a short (shunt the current across a switch) where lights couldn't be turned off).
-
That's odd. I would not expect spider web (type of silk?) to be conductive, or if it was, even to carry enough current to keep the lights on.

3d Printed Taillight lens
peteski replied to Steamboat's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
There is a truly clear (not tinted) resin is available for the Anycubic Photon printers. I have seen another modeler in a model RR forum I frequent. showing some clear parts printed. But the pink resin is perfect for red lenses. -
Looking at his profile, Mark has visited the forum on June 18. He is around. Like most of us, besides modeling, he probably has other things to take care of.

Sorry Hot Wheels......not seeing the point of this

But once that movie starts being distributed, what is stopping someone from making a copy of the digital movie file? -

What did you see on the road today?

LOL! You would think if they can afford a rather pricey full-time electric car, they would also own "green" electric-powered lawn appliances. Those, just like cars, are getting closer and closer in performance to the gas powered versions. -

My GF was driving through Merrimack, NH when she spotted this gem of a wagon. She found it interesting enough to stop and take those photos. You don't see many wagons like this at car shows. -

Snake, that huge link is full of all sorts of tracking info eBay uses. When you post it, you can snip most of it off (from the first "?" on). This short one gives you the same listing but without giving eBay all sorts of other info. https://www.ebay.com/i/164920029914 -
What did you see on the road today?
peteski replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Going 10-20 miles over the posted speed limit seems to be the norm. I don't see it as really that bad under dry road condition and paying attention to the road (not fumbling with the smart phone, eating a sandwich, or applying makeup). And of course keeping ample distance behind the idiot ahead of you who is doing one of those things. In this specific example, rain and wet surface were likely the major contributing factors to the accident. When you are driving your snail-pace 55MPH, I hope that you are at least not in the passing (fast) lane. That type of behavior would be really dangerous to you and to other drivers. -

That thing is so darn cute! Until now I never know such vehicle existed. Are there any models or diecasts of it available? -
No, you didn't. I finished the hand-piece, but I still haven't done the foot pedal variable speed controller. I have the in-progress photos. I need to start a new thread and add the foot pedal later, when I finish it. Stand by.

Funny that the question was specifically about a Japanese online store, and yet most everybody pops in with helpful recommendations of American-based shops.
