Dodge A100
426-Hemi replied to Crazed's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I have the door issues to work out too on the several of these I have!!!! So I'll be watching to see where ya go with it...... I on at least one, of them want them to open and close, but the rest I may glue shut because of fitment issues, and to make it "look good" is what I'm after so..... One of my A100's is a Monster truck with only one door, and I WILL make at least that one open & close, if nothing else.... Petty Blue was at one time sold in rattle can by Testors, NOT sure you can still get it tho.... Tamiya MIGHT have it as French Blue tho in a rattle can! -
Well its been awhile since I've done an update on this build, so without further ado.... We'll get right to it huh? Yeah why not! Well in the last update, was getting "Flash" painted, and in-place on the passenger seat, NOW that interior being in the body, I actually got the frame in-place too! Have a look: As you can see by the pic, I got the A/C compressor line going in, with the pointed out fitting to it. It in this pic is just "posed" as I have to drill the hole and shape the line to the A/C compressor! In these pics you can see that A/C line on-plce to stay!!!!! Then I got to make and fit the line from the A/C compressor to the firewall, this line has a bit more to it then just a line and fitting... As you're about to see! In-place, and to the firewall! To the firewall it went! If you look close, just below the heater hose lines in the firewall to the heater core, you can see that black line going up into the lower portion of the heater core.... To this point, there is only one "wire" to place.... The Horn wire! And thats coming too! Seen here, you notice the "gap" that needs sheet filing. This is the difference in how the frame fits the body! Its a quarter of an inch (ral 1:1 1/4 inch) off! Thats how far, I had to raise the body on the frame, to make the car sit factory height! As if I had monted it as the kit went together, it would have looked like a low rider! Once I get the filler sheet in-place, and painted to match the car, it will look pretty good! I'm pleased so far, with the outcome of work done, I just have to slide the frame forward just a tad to get it to fit tightly to the back sides of the inner fenders and then glued to "stay"..... Thats to follow! Frame is slide forward, to stay, and the Horn wire in-place, so now all that under the hood detail is DONE, all the wires in-place, all the hoses made and also in-place, and for pic sake, I put the Air Cleaner on just for kicks..... I have yet to make those fillers for the tops of the inner fenders, and then glued in-place and finish painted, I added a "lip" for the hood to sit on when its on as well, (just like the real 1:1 would have!) I've stopped on this for a short time as I have to figure out where the Antenna might be if only one and or find if there may have been 2 of them due to it being a Police Car, I want to be sure and add them as they would have been in the TV series!!! Stay tuned, More will follow as things are done! The END is NEAR!!!!! As always, comments welcome! ENJOY

Pro-touring Plymouth Volare *340 to boosted 225 slant!*

Thats GREAT to hear........... last I knew they were only making intakes like those for the Aussie Hemi 6's..... Gonna be costly shipping from Australia!!!! BUT be worth it for a Slant 6 to make it just a tad stronger!!!! You know, you might want to make the Cam in that engine just a tad hotter too..... -

Yeah the Hurricane, YES, BUT what you were showing was from Aussie Speed, The Hurricane was either A stock, or made aftermarket by Offenhauser, Clifford, Kustom Bits, Aussie Speed I believe only makes parts for the Aussie Mopar Hemi 6, not the Slant 6's.... I didn't think Aussie Speed made Slant 6 parts!? -That musta changed as last I knew they were only doing Hemi 6 aftermarket parts! -

Brodie, NICE work BUT you do know that the "Aussie Speed" intake you're making is actually for a Aussie Mopar Hemi 6 right? Look at the flange where it would bolt onto the 1:1.... The flange is straight up and down vertical, if it was to bolt to a slant 6, that same flange would be angled 30 degrees.... Thats what your trying for, right? Then you have this: That long runner intake is GREAT on a Slant 6!!! AND its straight from the factory too! NOT an aftermarket part, and to that you can bolt a S.C.o.T.'s belt driven Supercharger to it, and top it with a 4 Barrel carburetor, thats a lot of Go like hell for a Slant 6.... BUT.....Then you could do this: Both. Supercharged, as well as Turbocharged...... -

Interesting! Its a difficult "call" on the ends to keep them "down" on the plastic, plus, you have to be careful not to ruin the surrounding paint as well.... OR worse, soften the plastic that its going to stick too, because of the glue or spray adhesive used! Hmmmm -

Yepper contrasting engines, but GAWD that Gold Charger looks good with an hidden Elephant under its hood!!!! The Blue one however isn't bad either, looks GREAT too, I just "favor" the looks of the gold charger is all! The Blue one tho is fitting with a 440 in it..... -Just to have 2 of the same car built 2 different ways! -
GORGEOUS in that color!!!!! (I got a '68 Dart going on, thats a Family Car my Dad once owned a real 1:1 of, and NOW as it seems I need to find another '68 Dart to make MY WAY!......... Builds like this? Are the blame as to why I wanna do another one!!!!! LOL NIICE job!

I agree it does look good! (and thats coming from a guy not all that fond of green cars in general) BUT, it looks GREAT!!! The Hemi Orange one is my favorite tho! (I favor the color) so...... Whats going in the 2 of them for power plants? The kits 440? or you have other ideas on the engines?

NICE job Dave!!!!! That paint looks great man! -Nice li'l 340 6 Pack too! That color just POPS!!!!! LOVE IT!!! Always liked the idea of a car with a color thats not "seen a lot".............. this falls PERFECTLY into that way of thinking! -
I think what you seen was the shine from the wheels and with the shine "curving" with the wheels as the pic was taken it gives that illusion to have the wheel weights on it! -It does look that way tho! GREAT model even without I gotta say!
