Sorry for the late reply Marty! But thank You. yes..... I made a lot happen with a lot less in this build.... I'm pleased with the whole build, and how it all turned out.... A few here got to see 'er at the NNL East this year too..... A few of my models were there speaking of which.....

My first major kitbash..... '71/'73 Chargers
426-Hemi replied to JollySipper's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Nice start! Can't wait to see where you take the factory kit, to make into the '72 -'73 type.. (I have a '71 that I want to make into a '74 Charger SE)..... SO, I'll be tuned right in! -
I have the latest one released, and have not looked that close to the kit. Probably because I have no reason to look for those rims, because the car I have will be built STOCK "Street" GTX, not a race car! -May not even have a Hermi in it when I'm into building it! BUT I do recall the rims that are pictured here in the kit.... Any reason they at Revell may have went from the Keystones to the Cragars?

1978 Dodge Monaco Gotham City PD: WIP (Photos Restored)
426-Hemi replied to David G.'s topic in WIP: Model Cars
David, In all honesty.... ? I have to say I probably went WAY over-board on the detail of this model, more than I should have..... Because of the kit itself, and all as its NOT the greatest kit as per-se the parts and how they fit.... I just get into detailing things and thats what gets me.... That in itself, (the detailing thereof) is what I enjoy and so, that being said, I just "let 'er rip"...... Which so far has gone well for the overall appearance of the model. I have to say, I had to sit it aside as I got into some other things I just had to deal with in a timely manner.... And to that, a break from finishing this one just because it does in fact become cantankerous thing after awhile and the last "sit down" and build onto it, had gotten to the point I had to take a break just because of its design of the kit and how it all should go together, and doesn't. (BEFORE it hit the wall at a flying leap speed of 200 MPH LOL) -I'm not one to allow the model to get the better of me even if it means I take a break from it.... Altho, that all being said, it is REALLY close done! -
NNL East and the most wanted list!

-I'd LOVE To see someone do a early 40's or late 40's Dodge Power Wagon..... Even an early 50's one too! The big fat fendered one..... AND to that have the same kit come as a 2n1, and have the ability to make it the standard 4x4 truck, AND the big brother 6x6 version..... -
Happy Hemi/Mopar Day!

HAPPY "Belated" HEMI DAY! -
Dave if it were me, I'd think of who was next to my "tables" as vendors, and see if the box it was in could have gotten mixed in with their stuff on both ends of where you were (Unless you only had one "neighbor"), then figure out (Have the staff at NNL help you on that) and contact them to see if the box could have gotten packed in with their items when it became time to pack-it-in for the day..... Just an idea......

I'ma youngster to a lot of you guys, but those old Magazines...... they HAD CLASS!!! Ain't a D A M N thing wrong, with those old Mini Skirts..... I WISHED the NEW girls in todays magazines with cars would wear such, more often! LOL

Thanks Mark. Yeah, I probably spent more on that Van then I should have, BUT for the one I need to make my Uncle's Van, its got the right body! SO, I couldn't resist! You know that 10 foot Utility Trailer I'm building that has the Dodge Step-Side truck bed fenders? That trailer, will be pulled with this van, same Uncle owned the 2..... SO.... I HAVE another Van, that would have need a bit more work to make it like the one my Uncle had so. Was sort of on the watch out for the right body to make his van from.... With a little less work!

Low profile tires and rims to go onto the Race trailer I'm going to be building! NOT sure what those are going on yet, but I bought all the guy had for the price, and WILL figure out something for them sooner or later! I just loved how the rims are directional! Yeah, I got a FEW of those sort of builds going on myself, (as you NOW know!) But, seeing it in person, is A BUNCH better then the pics give it credit for!!!! -
That looks GREAT man. the Testors 2 step thing, what is that and how does it work? It looks and came out GREAT on your roof man!

Walter, a few things.... One, we were discussing MUSCLE cars.... Two, that engine you posted is a 413, RB and its ALSO not a "muscle car" engine thats in YOUR picture.... That engine is a Chrysler Light Commercial RB 413, NOT to be confused with the Industrial Chrysler RB 413..... There are 3 yes THREE different versions of the same cubic inch engine! Steves engine is an RB, but you mentioned B engines.... We were not talking about B engines, alone, we were speaking of BOTH engine classes the B & RB class, IN mucsle car applications. That you posted, you can not SEE the caption: -Says NOTHING of it being a "car" engine, in fact, looking at the exhaust manifold that one the LEFT of the engine, shows it to be a Light Commercial engine, used commonly in the RV and even large truck applications..... The same block, made for "Industrial" use: Now as you had mentioned, there ARE exceptions with good ole Ma Mopar.......... That "Industrial" 413 hanging on the engine hoist, could ALSO be found in medium to moderately sized RV's.... -till 1979.... Now, applying that engine you pictured in a muscle car wouldn't have fit well, the exhaust manifolds would have created clearance issues with the engine bay of which it was in, as BOTH of them, on the Light Commercial version, as well as the Industrial version had symmetrically made exhaust manifolds, where as the car version of the same engine did not, due to pipe clearances. -I don't "own" a real 413 Industrial engine, BUT what I DO own is a B block 383 that IS a "Industrial" engine, and has the exact SAME heads seen on the 413 I pictured hanging from the engine hoist! Difference is all in the intake! (2 differently made "Industrial" class intakes, (Mine however is for a 4 barrel) -MOST had 2 barrel intakes. The Light Commercial use engines were low HP high Torque, as well as the Industrial engines, were done for low HP and high torque output!

NIICE job Steve!!!!! You get this posted over at MIS by chance? I missed it!!!!

Walter, I have to comment on that, on the B engine OR RB engine with factory exhaust, the right hand (As you SIT in the Drivers seat) side manifold would follow down the inside of the engine on the intake, around the head and behind it to the plug..... THATS correct.... On the left hand side (As you SIT in the Drivers seat) side manifold is made DIFFERENTLY. they ALL route around the FRONT of the head, and back to each plug location..... As seen in the above 3 pictures, the TOP manifold is the LEFT hand side one, and naturally the bottom one is the RIGHT hand side one! So then the plug wires were done as so: Right hand side ---^ Notice the wire in the upper left hand corning of the pic, just behind the head? Left hand side ---^ ALL the wires around the front, and UNDER the exhaust manifold.... In all the pics I just posted, the exhaust ONLY ones will fit both the B and RB block Wedge engines, the pics of the actual engine range from the 383, 400 to the 440......

Thanks! Yep, I plan to make it a restored "Street Machine" how fitting..........
-
THANKS!!!! Yeah the wheels were even a treat for me too. I thought it up, but had never attempted it, till now so, I'm pretty pleased with the end result on them!
-
Thanks David! Yeah, I get right into it, as you very well know!!!! Ya can't tell I enjoy throwing all that work and detail into a build, can ya?

Yes Rustoleum always had for me...... WHY I like it, as well as Testors (they come from the same plant!)
