I've been working on one of these for a couple of days. Its not too bad imo. My hood and trunk lid werecovered in sink marks but some 240 grit sanding sticks soon knocked them back. I've ditched the front seats in favour of some from a bmw e46 transkit. I was going to chop it but the way the rear glass fits has put me off that plan unless i make new rear glass and door tops. I'm using this as my inspiration. I did think i was going box stock but i just couldn't do it. The chassis will be stock though

I think I'll be giving this another round of the gold. I've messed up an edge so before i clean it all off I'm going to experiment with the different clears i have. Duplicolour on its own causes the gold to fade to grey on the raised edges. I've just applied gauzy shine enhancer to the hood so I'll give that a couple of hours to dry, then i'll give it a coat of duplicolour clear. Once i find my jar of S-02 clear i'll give it another area a coat of it, then later hit it with clear too. I'm still hopeful it will work as a base or the candy, its just going to take some experimenting. I'll give some other parts a shot of the gold too so i can set them aside and do the same teats in a week once the paint has dried for longer.

It was printed on a anycubic photon mono x. Thie has been sanded on the larger areas as there was a finger print effect on the side panels but some 240grit soon knocked it back and then i used duplicolour filler primer

There might be slightly different teqniques people use but they're pretty much all the same. Whichever you feel gets you the best results is the one to use as everyone is different. I do the same thing as you with tape when foiling, and i never thought to do it for polishing

Thanks, its montana chrome gold, its a grafitti paint i saw used while i was south so i asked where to get some. I've tried their chrome too but its just a non metallic silver. I think I'll give this a coat of s-02 or gauzy sealer before i do the candy. I get the feeling the hok will be too hot for it and those sealers can be cleared with duplicolour so that should fix any compatibility issues before they happen. I'm tempted to mask off the louvres too. I was going to foil them but the gold could be kinda cool for some detail

Asking another 3D printer question
stitchdup replied to V8tiger's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
you can print bodies in 2 parts but you run the risk of the 2 sides not lining up right. I've printed out a skoda ambulance with a join running the full length of the body. the 2 joining faces are close to lining up but there will be a lot to fill after getting the faces lined up and the grille being split down the centre is going to be a chore to get right. if you can I would suggest get the biggest printer you can if you will be doing bodies, if its just the odd one now and again a smaller one will suffice but for bodies bigger is easier to work with. I have the anycubic photon mono x for my smaller printer and i dont think I would want anything smaller than it. It can do bodies in 1 part which i like but its small enough that i can use t for smaller items and the bigger one for bodies. -
After 2 weeks of mostly standing like a plum outside the same shops in every mall or street we passed, I'm finally home and able to sleep in my own bed. The marks and spencer on princess street in edinburgh had the most comfortable window ledge

To WIP or not to WIP
stitchdup replied to atomicholiday's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If my camera is charged up when i start a build i'll do a wip, if not i tend to forget. Sometimes its just down to what mood I'm in at the time or if things are moving really quick i tend to stick at it rather than stop for pics. -

logistics just means they bullied the town into lower taxes for them to move there, it has nothing to do with logic

that would depend on which glue you use, araldite gives me a banging sore head the next day, even if i use it in the booth with it running full power. Its even worse if i eat grapefruit for breakfast but then grapefruit shouldn't be eaten if your on medication as something about it changes how they affect you

Looking for a good hobby shop in Nashville.

the worst food i have ever had the misfortune to be served as from a diner in nashville in 2020. I dont know what it was called but it was across the road from the nascar cafe/race rock (cant remember which) My burger and fries were served in a bowl of disgusting greasy water. It was worse than my mothers boiled mutton (or rope boiled in stock cube as i call it) -
