I would try using a piece from the leftover corvair roof parts. Its already the shape you need to fit the roof.

That could be expanded a little. A lot of modern wheels are just bigger old wheels so if there was a second size of rims to upsize the originals you've just turned one wheel into 2 differnet sets with just a rim swap. if the extra rim had a little extra lip that would give you the option to get the offsets you need. For example a 16" early ford rim could be a modern 18/9" rim

I would use the 59 bed cover, and a piece of flat plastic for the middle. I'd cut the 2 pleated pieces out of the cover, cut the flat centre then glue both pieces to a backing piece. since there doesn't appear to be trim between the flat and pleated this will give you the best seperation edge and you wont have to worry about cutting the strips at an angle. remember to reverse the direction for the other side

before you start chopping, cut a piece of card cut to the size the new window will be and its much easier to get both sides square. no need to measure evrytime, just try the window template and you'll save a load of time. -

I just compared the revell and tamiya bug bodies. There is a 1mm difference between the fenders on the bottom edge, the rear of the tamiya is slightly wider while the front of the revell is slightly wider. The fender heights are the same and the rear edges of the hood are very very close to each other. Since the bottom of the front body is cut away to fit the kit i think the baja kit will fit the tamiya. If you have the skills to fit the kit to the revell then you have the skills to fit it to the tamiya too. The side rails and bumpers may not fit if they are designed for the revell kit, but maybe the inner tubes of those could be extended and done as a trim to fit part so it would fit both kits. Since it will fit the tamiya bug, it should also fit the italeri/aoshima/various others 1303 kits but since they are curbside its probably not the best base for the trans kit as the engine is a big feature of a baja. Some kit bashing could fix that though. I've previously measured the 1303 as i was going to put a tamiya chassis under it. I suspect it would also fit the gunze kit with some small mods.

For me its not so much about the wheel brand thats included but it would be nice to see 3 wheel options in kits again but updated to more modern versions. for example the 3 that would get me to pick a kit over another would be stock wheels, era correct aftermarket wheels and a set of modern style aftermarket wheels. With how popular pro touring is its surprising how few kits there are of the style. visually a lot of them are stock body with aftermarket wheels so including them opens up another style without having to spend a fortune in the aftermarket. Obviously this wouldn't be for every kit but it could bring younger builders to the marketplace.

the primer patches look to have pretty sharp edges so i'm try some tearing little bits of masking tape before paint, if any of it is peeling maybe loose bmf under the paint. some of what looks like primer in the pics might be bare metal, the car took a lot of scrapes in filming so it wouldn't surprise me to have it bare in spots. I'm sure there are clearer pics online from its display at the peterson museum a few years back
