Makes me glad I live in the uk, although when i was a kid there was a local garage that was notorious for passing a cars m.o.t if you left a half bottle of whisky in the glove box. My dad put his car in for 2 tyres to be fitted and nothing was done but he got a new certificate. I had a friend over working from Poland and he put his car in to get new discs fitted and the guy doing it couldn't get one of the retaining screws out so in his infinite wisdom, instead of using an impact driver he cut the driveshaft in half and gave up, thus destroying the guys car that really was in decent condition. Only tried to charge the guy a grand for it, thinking he wouldn't argue. I directed the guy to go down and lock his car up and take the keys with him so the garage couldn't do any more damage and we went to trading standards to put in a complaint. We got the guys car moved when they got involved, and another competent garage fixed it all at the first garages expense. The first garage shut very soon afterwards

CA and other things I'm clueless about

When you're doing the foil use a new blade, and instead of q-tips have a look in the make up section of stores. You'll find a much better selection of q-tip style applicators and they are much cheaper than the tamiya ones with much more in the pack. The ones with the point are best for getting into the corners and are much less likelly o puncture the foil. I also put low tack tape down close to the outside edges of the trim so the foil doesn't stick to the paint.. It also helps to use a round handled holder for the blade, I find it easier to use the round handle as you can roll it around corners easier than a flat handle but that personal choice really. If its a knife you are comfortable using that also helps. It looks like you have some good sharp edges on the window trim already so that will help you when doing the foil. Dont press hard on the knife, let the weight of the handle do the cut as you gently pull slide the blade along the edge it cuts really easily. Also, avoid drinking too much coffee before doing the foil, you dont want your hands shaking, and plenty of light is good too -
This is the belkits mk1 escort as driven by Roger Clark in the early 1970s. It is completely box stock which is unusal for my builds and I didn't even add any vw parts. I still need to do the weathering which will be done when i next have my airbrush out. If you are building one of these add the headlights as directed but do the rest of the chrome after the body is on as the fit is very tight and it will pop off. Also dont use humbrol decal setting solution on there decals unless you want a rubbery blob. I would also paint the blue stripes on the sides instead of using the decals as there are a lot of curves around the wheel arches that are difficult to get them to lay in

stitchdup replied to Bugatti Fan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Made by premier but I cant say I've ever seen one. There are resin bodies of it available though but they need a lot of work -
It might be worth trying the guys from that japanese classic show that was on, if i remember right they order parts from japan and with the popularity of the mx5/eunos they may have what you need in stock

try contacting mazda dealers, they are remaking a lot of parts to restore them now

Can I see your guys model stashs' ?
stitchdup replied to Ctmodeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
These are my to build stash. The fishing tackle boxes are full of aftermarket wheels and the white boxes are my resin stash. I have all my vw/porsche/vag kits seperated from the rest. As well as these I have a couple of cases of italeri ford escort and transit to put on ebay in a couple of years. These pics are from the start of the year and I've added a load more kits to the build stash since with more on the way. The cupboard with the spitfire sticker holds my spray cans and airbrush + compressor and the drawers are full of glues, wire and brush paints. -
most of our supermarkets have gone the wallyworld route in the uk (asda is a uk division of wallyworld). as for model kits lidl usually gat a selection twice a year of revell kits. mostly its military/aircraft but cars feature occaisonally

You would need the monogram kit and a 40 coupe/convert for the rear end. I think there is one done this way on the forum

We all have priorities and getting your kids educated is an important one. Much respect mate -
I dig it, liking the big bumpers too. Been planning to get a set of the scale production ones for a mk2. I've also been trying to get one of the mk2 jetta transkits but they are pricey when they turn up

I dont suppose you have pics of them? I'd be very interested to see them

In real life it sits above the passat of the time, being just slightly larger. It may use the audi 80/100 platform

Looking forward to it -
It was the polo harlequin we got in the UK but there are a few golfs done in the paint now but not real ones. There was one in aberdeen (polo) that was always parked in the graveyard on union street with the number plate A11LSD I'd love to have one but the interiors on them were a bit plain for the outside. I thought briefly about giving it the US spec bumper side lights (indicators?) but it wouldn't have fitted the build theme. Might do that when I get back to the van Thanks, I'm back to my mk1 escort just now since its close to done, and I built a deutz d30 at work last night so I'll weather both of them at the same time, then back to this

A couple of recnt arrivals. The VW crew cab I got since i was unable to find one of the scale prodcution resin versions, and the santana will probably never be done in plastic so I added it to my VW collection. I'll probably lower both and change the wheels at some point before they goes in the cabinet. There is also a version of the bus with surfboards but the paint schemes on them didn't appeal to me so a set of porsche 968 rims will be the only change. The santana engine plate is pretty nice for a toy and I'm sure some careful work with the micromesh polishing pads will do wonders for the paint

stitchdup replied to Ghost_33's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Very nicely done, I would also like to know what kit it is from, my dad had one of the road cars in orange when i was a kid -
unfortunatally once this situation is over it will be the poor and sick that gets punished again for the goverments incompetancy. It always is and boris and co will blame someone else like (lava)tories always do.
