2025 Cannonball Run - 50 years since the 1975 run.
stitchdup replied to Mattilacken's topic in Community Builds
At the moment i'm using the zakspeed engine but will be printing some parts or might even swap to a v6 or crossflow 4 pot as its very tunable and it'll be fun to wave at you in the gas stops as i fly on by with half a tank left. the first time i was building this i used a cossie turbo but i have something else for it so it wont be wasted. So today after laying out parts and looking at hundreds of pics of zakspeed fords i decided to use some influences from the later capris and set the engine back by 2 pots so 90% is now behind the axle and i now need to build a new engine bay which may or may not be a tube chassis. so far i cut away the firewall and upper rear of the engine bay then moved the entire part back. this brought the engine to the firewall but i might move it back a little more still so its not glued in place yet. i've included a pic with a stock chassis too. i started making a zakspeed cam cover too but might not use it as i cant get the lettering right -

I'm going to be starting with some parts and the body from my previous escort entry. my previous entry was about halfway along but i'll be changing to a rally car chassis as the current one is set up for a cossie and i can use it under something else. some of the parts getting swapped over to the rally car. -

theres a few options but most are aimed at pro touring and drag racing. i haven't seen any seperate conversion parts but you might find a printer that would do them seperate for you. have a look on cults3d and you'll find lots of options. -

you'll possibly need a bus kit too. both my campers have the rear hatch stretched along the top edge but i had one left from the bus i cut up back when the kit was new. i should probably finish that truck sometime, lol -

Rare/unusual auto options.

most euro cars came with those headlight wipers, and an ugly box for the washer jets. They never worked for long either, one winter would destroy them. One of my first jobs in the garage was making plugs for the holes when we removed them. they didn't last long but it was the nearest the garage got to doing custom work sadly. -

you could just add the text on photoshop or similar.

you could try the notify me section on spot model. if it comes back in stock you'll get an email from them, usually before they arrive so you get to the front of the queue

looking at the front spoiler in the first pic, it looks like it started out as a visor for a 40s car or truck with split screen

its not, its a ford anglia/thames van (harry potter car) with what looks like a camry grille and windows cut in the sides. the wide arches on the rear are custom and give it a slight commer cob look. its a rare vehicle as most of these were worked hard and rotted away. here a stocker

the monogram s'cool bus might give you most of a body but you might need a second body to unchop or unsection it. there are a few print files available if you have access to a 3d printer. the print files cover various years from the 50 chevy and ford trucks through to current international versions. the chassis are usually kinda toyish on the prints
