What Did You See In Your Yard Today?
stitchdup replied to Tim W. SoCal's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I dont get much in my yard because i dont actually have one, but my mother yard gets loads of critters from hedgehogs through to stoats (the stoats are being trapped to be sent away as they are an invasive species that has no predators locally) but mostly its song birds, mice, voles, shrews and hundreds of butterflies. Out the front is more impressive as its the beach where we get seals, various whales, dolphin, sillocks, caithes and cod. we had a walrus a few years ago and about ten years ago a suspected polar bear carcass which turned out to be a cow. we get a lot of rare birds too as we're on the migration route and the last few years when canada hs been on fire we get their geese. and we sometimes see sea eagles as theres a breeding pair on a nearby island -

Tips for attaching aftermarket wheels
stitchdup replied to atomicholiday's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
i find it varies from kit to kit and for some different styles. if its a solid wheel i'm very likely to not worry about brakes since they are hidden but on kits like the revell audi r8s it means ditching the brakes for aftermarket parts and making aoshima or tamiya style mounts. if its a wire axle kit the aoshima mount works best as you can drill some sprue to fit the wire and then glue that to the mounts. I would say the easiest way to work it out is from bakes though. tamiya mounts are the easiest though as it just a case of filling the stock wheel mount/brake to fit the tamiya mounts. There are free files for the mounts on cults or if you pm your email to me a i can send you the files my friend drew up for me. I know they fit most wheel styles -

theres a spray on plastic dip type coating available. if it sticks it might give to a base to work from. As far as i know its a fairly recent product and the only place i've seen it is on the ford fiesta episode of car sos on tv

I appreciate the likes folks, but you might be about to change your minds, lol. For about a year now I've had a hankering to make a modern hypercar with a pre war car and I've saved parts with a cord in mind for the basis but it seems more fitting to use a 32 ford. This is why i went electric with this and will hopefully help make some sense of the pics until its more together as i'm questioning muself just now, lol. I'm sure it will work out..... I've cut multiple slices into a spare grille so i could bend it. realising an electric car didn't need an open grille made this possible as i dont think i could bend the centre. I intend to graft this into the stock grille a little steeper than in the pics with the bottom edge in line with the stock bumper mount. I'm thinking to make this open and have a drinks fridge inside, while the engine bay will be the trunk. If i add the extra needed wedge to the fenders instead of the body this should leave plenty space for batteries and i'll make a notched firewall to use the tesla management parts i printed. Ya know, this might be a practical hotrod, lol. appologies for the poor pics, the suns gone down

painting molded in color

i just did an orange revell vw bus tailgate after the camper one didn't fit. i used duplicolour hdr silver after the primer and it worked well. i'm not sure if copper would work as its close to the red/yellow/oramge plastics that are the biggest offenders. you run the risk then of finding out too late that it didn't work. i have seen other people use gold sucessfully but haven't tried myself yet -
its currently less than 20 quid with the pe sheet. i think i paid 17.99 in jan at my local record shop

a very rough mock up to check the look. I've added a small wedge to the front of the body. this was mainly because i wanted to lift the rear of the body to give it some forward rake as its still a hotrod and i want the fenders fairly level to the ground. by adding the wedge to the body it also somewhat cleaned up the front end as it all lines up with the grille and doors. I still need to extend the rear edge of the fenders down though the shorter end is starting to grow on me. and the front fenders are now 6mm further forward but i still intend extending them down to the ground. I'm now thinking about the headlights and they wont be in the stock location but instead mounted centrally below the grille like some gt racers. The wheels wont be staying chrome
