  1. Hi, This kit started off real simple but got real complicated, mostly due to many mistakes. I crazed the body and wheels pretty badly, too much primer at once plus I didn't wash the resin type wheels. These mistakes I will no longer make. I sanded the tire lettering off, decaled, Pledged and cleared. But when I installed the rims, the rubber cracked. So I used some super glue to fill in the cracks, sanded and cleared. Not perfect, just ok. I feel like I sorta screwed up on the size of the front wheels. I should have sized em the same as the rears but with a smaller profile tire. Right now the front wheel well doesn't looked filled properly. However I did spend a lot of time ensuring the wheels were tucked in just right w/o any odd camber or toe. To me stanse is very important. Kinda like "strike a pose". I had to make a new windshield as the kit had a big crack and was too thick. Unfortunatly using clay or Miliput as a mold to heat the glass against didn't work for me as it kept curling upwards. After several attempts I decided to tape the Evergreen against the kit glass and slowly heat it up. This created enough of a curviture to work. After some handling the plastic got sorta foggy with fine scratches so I washed and coated with Pledge. I used LazerBond to attach it, turned out ok. The fog lights had a noticable gap between the glass and the body. So I took acrylic putty and smoothed it around the glass removing any access with a damp finger. I then coated in Pledge for protection and Micro Masked for painting purposes. It turned out ok. I'm feeling better about spraying via can/air brush which is great as they both terrifed me. I still get slight orange peel but hoping with time it gets as good as your builds. All in all I highly recommend this kit as it's just so darn cool. Besides, I prefer the look of an 05' GT to the new 16' model. While the new one is totally bad a$$, I love the look of the original GT40 which the 05' captures pretty well I think. I scanned and printed the decals based on RGB values for Gulf Orange. They didn't work out so I tried the ones that came with the GTX-1 but they actually bled color while soaking for a short time. I'm pretty disapointed but time to move on. I will however say that this is the last time I go with attempting custom decals or after market decals from individuals. Special thanks to; Darren@DB Designz for providing the body. Matt@Gravity Colors for providing the paint. Jeremy@Clearly Scale for providing the tires and wheels. All of which are awesome features of the car. An interesting thing I've learned about modified builds is economics. When all was said and done, it cost me about the same as a SimilR GT. So I'm looking at future builds a bit differently now.
  2. Wow! Extremely flattering replies! Thank you very much, especially seeing that I am still new and struggling in this game called scale model building.
  3. Hi, This was a sneak in between builds build (1/25 MPC CanAm) which was missing tires, wheels and headlights. So I improvised. It's a great kit, full of serious potential into making a mega full detail if one desires. Like what Phildaupho is doing with his Lola T70 which is spectacular. Imagine that level on this kit; WOW!. I did notice that my Tamiya Lacquer Flat Clear gummed up and buggerfied the tires so I had a hell of a time fixing that. So I switched to Tamiya Flat Clear acylic. Anyways, a GREAT kit and GREAT fun.
  4. A pretty incredible project. Curious how you are fabricating parts? Are you using a Circut/Silhouette printer for some things?
  5. Why thank you very much Randy!
  6. Hi, Would you happen to have some pics of the kit?
  7. Thanks Crazy Ed!
  8. Hi, A very long term project, got the engine done finally and added some cool plumbing to the body.
  9. Hi, I'm still tweaking the decals via Photoshop and printer. Hoping to post Under Glass mid next week.
  10. Thanks Mark. I second your thoughts and will try and scratch build. i did find a 1/25 resin body but it sold a while back.
  11. I think you are right about getting too much on my brush. Thanks for the tips.
  12. Well, I did find a 1/24 slot car body of the car and I do have the 1/25 Lotus version. I may kit bash as the Paxton looks a lot better to me then the Lotus. However I've never worked with those clear slot car bodies before. Would any one happen to have tips on ho they differ from styrene in terms of work flow?
  13. Thanks for the reply. No shaky here. My brush was sorta wet from another application so perhaps that's it. I'll try a dry brush next time.
  14. Hi, I've been experimenting with Pledge Floor Care Finish x2 and noticed then when I brush it on with 1 stoke, a few seconds later tiny bumps start to show. They are very tiny, like the size of sand or salt. Seems really odd, hoping some one could shed light as to whats going on?
  15. If you don't mind me asking, what brand was it and how much did you pay?
  16. Hi, Would any one happen to have a source for a 1/25 Paxton Turbine Indy body by chance?
  17. I think it's pretty good actually. And that's before I found it was a child.
  18. Yep, seems to be an issue alright; http://downdetector.com/status/photobucket
  19. Dunno, your color is koooool though. I'll prolly start it after 3 builds. The one is almost done, the 2nd is half done, the third is in the parts gathering stage. Then I've 2 long term builds that I dabble in here and there. Hope to post something this weekend.
  20. I love it! I can't wait to start mine.
  21. Well, I've decided to make my own headlights but slightly different. As they say; necessity is the mother of invention.
  22. 1/25 or 1/24, either is fine.
  23. Wow, cool those are great ides, cheaper too.
  24. I was watching a partially put together Heller version on eBay for $7.50, it sold for $20. I was like... NOT...
  25. Hi, Would any one know where I can find these local within the US or what kit may have them? Something close is fine, no perfection needed. Thanks in advance.
