  1. Wow, that's brilliant! I never would have thought to use Silly Putty as a mask, that's great!
  2. At first I felt the same way, but two things I've learned reading about our military is that they are the best in logistics and redundancy.
  3. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/3billion-stealth-ship-described-starship-8795188 Wow, what a design! Yea, don't count out the US Navy. What a ship!
  4. Yep, they got some cool wheels there; http://www.eightyone81.com/rm044-ccw-classics-17-rimset/
  5. Welp, speaking as a newB and some one has has/is struggling with paint, all I can really add is that trial and error. Watch YouTubes of mixing/thining and then its up to father time for the rest. I use enamels, acrylics, lacquers for diff things and colors. Plus diff brands behave differently as well. Paint in my opinion is the most difficult and important aspect of a model. Read this; Lots of helpful replies on that, one of my first posts.
  6. Stoked to have been helpful for a change as usually I just leach off the bard However this post has got me looking to buy the AMT kit. The car itself is awesome and Mr. Guldstrand is super cool.
  7. Well, not sure but according to the Google Chrome Eye Dropper plugin, its teal. And Popular Mechanics 8/95' had an article mentioning it was dark metallic blue. The AMT instructions call for midnight blue. So heck I dunno.
  8. Hi, This may help as I usually try to find the instruction sheet for a kit of interest. http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/1-sort/amt-guldstrand-gran/?view=roll I always like to get pumped by learning about the 1:1 version;
  9. Well, Tamiya tech support also said 30 seconds of shaking in my climate should be good enough as it is for them. Also a more side to side. I was shaking hard for like 2 minutes.
  10. Welp, it wasn't how much I was shaking but how hard. I was slamming the ball against the bottom pretty hard. Kinda weird to explain.
  11. Wow, that was all, man you are a master. The tires look awesome!
  12. WOW, this is very very very very cooool! I love it!
  13. Yep, me too. Now on my 5th or 6th build I just about test fit everything. Funny, even after reading many times to test fit, I still managed not to. In fact, for my next build, I plan to assemble using Elmars, no paint to see how it goes. Then disable, primer, test fit then paint. Still experimenting with work flows.
  14. Hi, An update; No more bulges. I no longer shake the can like a maniac but vary side to side, top to bottom, bottom to top, rotating the can as I shake. It's working out well for me.
  15. Very very cool. So the engine is indeed a twin turbo of sorts.
  16. Cool I'm there, thanks much, I'm stoked. Was starting to feel like Spicoli during paint sessions.
  17. Hi, Curious if the community can recommend a decent paint mask? I don't have any real ventalation just yet. Thanks in advance.
  18. Super Clean has my vote of the ones you mentioned. However you will be more happy with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Easy Lift Off or ELO is also very very good. https://jet.com/product/Humco-Isopropyl-Alcohol-USP-99-16-oz/54c3541c9fde4187bd9b27ed7d0a8b8d
  19. Those seem rather reasonable for a specialty type wheel actually.
  20. Thats FPPM or Fernandao Pinto whose kits I have two of. And one of them has those wheels, a bit wider though, Dino 246SP. HRM does a hand laced wheel, give em a jingle, not email. He NEVER answers email as I think those go into a cosmic bunny hole of some sort.
  21. I tried to get this stuff a while back but my local Walmart super store didn't carry it and was too horribly disorganized to tell me when it would be in. I gave up after a month of calling and visiting. Also, they changed the name of it as I recall. Was it primer or simply paint that you use as a primer? You mind posting a pic of the can?
  22. Wow, utter beauty ad perfection! Makes me wanna change subject matter to era of cars you build. Man that looks wonderful, love the tire print too, wow.
  23. Man I am lovin the Plastikote with a Tamiya nozzle, night and day! Looks like I'll be able to salvage the GTX-1! Can feels lighter too, there stock nozzle was adding some LBS
