If you want to ride a bike, you can read all the books you can find, you can watch all the videos youtube can provide, you might even find a video game with immersive virtual reality but none of it will help you when the rubber meets the road. This is one of those things you can only learn and improve on by doing it.

That's a Modelhaus resin kit of Buster Litton's '49 Ford. The tail lights on the real car were from a '51 Olds 98. I doubt you'll find another set apart from the Modelhaus kit but the red lenses would be easily cut from a piece of round clear red sprue.

Years? , More like decades. What I have seen lately is clear red plastic cutlery.

Dirty Mary Crazy Larry Charger color?
Can-Con replied to slusher's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This Rabbit is painted with Curious Yellow I had mixed at a local parts store that mixes paint. Here is is during building under different light. A lot more yellow. -
Finished - AMT Phantom Van

Just WOW ??? Looks fantastic. -
Looks good. I like the colors. You might want to foil the rest if the A-pillar, the stainless steel part on them completely covered the pillar. The box are has always been wrong.

Canada Geese ,,, closest thing to actual velociraptors still in existence.? Ever see up close the beak on those things?

Cool that you posted this. It's basically how I've been doing woodgrain since the early '80s but I just use Testors in the little bottles. ?

AMT Phantom Ford Van
Can-Con replied to Nacho Z's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Actually, I was planning just a quick build on this one. Not even gonna do plug wires on the engine as it mostly won't be seen, might even glue the hood closed too. ? -
Is the revell muscle 78 trans am a good bandit car
Can-Con replied to MrMiles's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The second pic isn't a Fisher top, it's an aftermarket top. It's a C&C top. [Cars & Concepts Co.] I understand those are quite rare. I've never seen one in person. -

Can-Con replied to MrMiles's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yes, the Hurst have a wide panel. There '77. Possibly '76, I'm not sure. Fisher [GM] narrow panel. '78 and up. IIRC, there may have been some overlap when a year got both, not sure about that, maybe '78? -
History of AMT & MPC's Action Line Pickup Kits
Can-Con replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I'm pretty sure that's a Monogram cab too. Besides being different scales the MPC kit has a recessed line around the side markers while it's raised on the Monogram. Maybe you can see what I mean with this pic,, -

No, I think he's kinda right. Not Revell but Monogram but IIRC, it may also have been boxed as Revell. The Fall gut truck and the Deserter reissue were later '81 up trucks, that one's definitely an 80 and older. the front fenders are a dead giveaway. The Deserter has an '83/'84 grille. Probably just one someone had already built or had on hand to use as a fill-in because they didn't have a copy of the actual kit at the time. Used to happen all the time. Most famously when AMT used a Modelhaus resin kit as box art on the first issue of their '62 Chevy Bel Air. -
Ford C800 Gar-Wood Load Packer. It's Happening!
Can-Con replied to chuckyr's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I agree. Now, why would I read this thread if I have no interest in the kit? Well, even though I won't be buying one I'd like to see what others think of it and maybe see pics of a new kit I haven't seen before. I believe it's good to keep up on new kits, no matter if they are heavy trucks or hot rods ,, or even the dreaded '57 Chevy [ Yes, I did read the thread about needing a new '57 Chevy ? gasp!!]. Will I buy one? Probably not. Am I happy that those who want to will be able to?, yes, of cores, why wouldn't I be? Any new kit in our scale is good for us who build in this scale. -

Thanks for posting that Rob. I didn't have any pics of the current interior although I have a few of the kit. I wonder if that's strait out of the last issues of the MPC '72 Chevy stepside kits? Also, nice to see the difference in the '67 and '68 seats. Now I'll know what I'm looking at if I ever come across one. -
That's funny !! Anyone else instantly recognize the coffee cup? LOL?

Beautiful build and a very cool way to address that awful top on the sedan kit. ???

History of AMT & MPC's Action Line Pickup Kits
Can-Con replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
This is the interior that came in the AMT GMC stepside. I have never had any of the annual fleetsides so I don't know if it's the same door design but I'm betting it is the same as at least the last one made. I added the Vette steering wheel but everything else is as it came in the kit. As far as I can tell, the AMT interiors had the separate console between the seats while the MPC kits had it molded in with the rest of the interior bucket. This is an original '68 Chevy interior. Pretty sure this one is an MPC. Notice the door panels look the same in both kits but everything else in different. Maybe I shouldn't have added that last part, might make things confusing. -
AMT Phantom Ford Van
Can-Con replied to Nacho Z's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Yours looks like it has more flash on it than mine, John. I'm also taking the less added detail route with mine. Just a simple build to replicate the one I built back in the '80s. I think I'm gonna leave the rear axle loose on mine as the mounting area is a bit vague so I'll be able to make sure the tires are centered in the openings when it's all glued together. Even before I modded the rear spring mounts for lowering, there was a good 2/3 scale inch vagueness to where it could end up. -
1957 Chevrolet 150 Black Widow
Can-Con replied to Jim B's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Valom. Nice little kits They even have a small photoetch sheet in some kits They're actually 4 complete kits in the "duels in the sky" boxes and I think all the single plane kits have 2 kits in each box. -

This is the "fine" in black to give you an idea of the actual size. The "heavy" is much thicker. I think it would be fine for a 1/700 scale ship. -
Cragar made a lot of other wheels designs besides the S/S. By the shape of the spokes, and if they are Cragar as it does say on the center cops, I'd say they look more like "Swingers" than "Super Sports".

Looks good John. Man, your paint turned out better than mine did before polishing. That would have saved me a ton of work. ? No need to apologies to me, I'm sure there's thousands of people building this kit and I'm sure there was more than that who built it just the same when it was first released way back in the '70s. We're just keeping up the tradition. ? BTW, have you ever seen a kit with so many raised ejector pin marks that have to be cleaned up? ?
