History of Monogram's Squarebody GM Pickups
Can-Con replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I doubt those MPC tires actually came in that kit. See how the rim goes up almost to the lettering? That says to me they were just stretched out over the larger 1/24 rim. They were pretty flexible. -
Thanks again guys. This thing fought me almost all the way to the finish so it's nice to get so many great comments on it. ?

Looks great Bill. I really thought you had given up on this one. Glad to see you finished it, I know it was a battle.

OR, maybe just buy his. He does make those for the Bronco too.

I used the old MPC Desert Dogs on mine so I'd say any tire that fits a regular kit wheel will work.

Revell Bronco,Trailer & Buggy
Can-Con replied to PatW's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Looks great Pat. Sure is great to have that old buggy back again. -
Finally got this thing finished. It fought me at every turn for the last few weeks. Not my cleanest build but it's not too bad I guess considering what I was trying to do. I really didn't think I was going to like the front end but it kinda came together after the grille and lights were installed. Also. this is the Revell kit with the custom front and rear pan and tail light bezels from the AMT '65 Impala annual kit. The intake and valve covers are from the AMT '70 Impala. Anyway,, the pics,,,,

Now that's some koolness right there! ?

Nice work on those fenders Steve. I find getting them even is pretty difficult. You guys keep building these wicked Camaros I might have to dig this one back out. Started 20 years ago and the paint went south on me so it's stripped and ready for new bodywork. The white paint sure hides the flared fenders though.

They look exactly like the ones in this '69 brochure pic?
-
Thanks everyone. Hopefully the next car I post will be a fresh build. ?

The chrome wheels in the kit are the aluminum factory option wheels. The second set of wheels in the kit are a set of unplated factory style 8 spoke "wagon wheels" Both are very nicely done.

Yup. All I did was snip off the vert front of the frame rails that stick out to hold the bumper. When I put it together I cut the center section from the floor and trimmed it to fill in the blank area in the middle. And that's all there was to it. Also you can use the inaccurate inner fenders as is but I made new ones from a 2nd gen MPC Firebird chassis plate. Just had to make them a little wider with sheet plastic. Here's a link to the rest of the build. https://public.fotki.com/SteveMilberry/projects/stepside-72-chevy-/

Wonder if that kit or it'd firetruck redo would ever see the light of day again. I kinda doubt it. -
AMT Cinderbug Hot Rod
Can-Con replied to Modelbuilder Mark's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Looks great Mark. First time for me seeing one finished too and I do have one 1/2 built on a Buttera chassis. Love the paint. -
Yea, that's exactly what I was thinking.

Ah, I didn't notice that.
