  1. I also just completed a trade with Kevin. great guy. Gave me a real good deal. ???
  2. John, Those "SS" wheels were indeed Magnum 500 wheels, same as used by Ford Mopar and AMC at the time. All were made by Motor Wheel in Lansing to the customers specs. They even sold them as an aftermarket wheel. All the same wheel made by the same company just with the details [diameter, width, bolt pattern, plating or paint, trim ring or no ring, center cap] changed around by whoever ordered them.
  3. Yes and no. It's the Metalcast stuff , which is more of a die then paint, I think. I know it wrinkles up bad like enamel when you use it strait from the can and shoot lacquer clearcoat over it but I've had good luck mixing it into clear lacquer wit lacquer clear over it several times. Never has a reaction like this before. It did the same thing but to a lesser amount with my blue '64 Pontiac.
  4. That looks great. It's one kit I don't have yet that I want to pick up some day after seeing how well you did yours.
  5. BTW, that's really odd that yours had 5 lug. The kit definitely has 4 lug wheels. At least all the ones I've seen including the reissues had them. Maybe someone swapped out the original wheels in your kit?
  6. You can buy those wheels separate from a kit. They have several styles of 4 bolt wheels, you might want to try googling "Aoshima wheels" to see if any of their other styles look good to you.
  7. The old Revell "Monroe Handlar" Mustang II kit had them. Might be hard to find though Also there's Aoshima "Mark 1" 14 inch.
  8. Perfect vehicle for all the SJWs out there.
  9. I think you're right about that Monty. Also, I think the Pace Car would serve as the '79 Annual. It came out later in '78 , around the time or just prior to when the '89 annual would. And most of the noticeable differences between the Pace Car and a regular '78 were adopted for the '79 Corvette such as the Pace Car seats, spoilers and glass T-roof panels, although the spoilers and roof panels were options.
  10. GM F-bodies, Firebirds and Camaros. 1st gen- '67-'69 , , 2nd gen- '70-81, , 3rd gen-'82-'92, , 4th gen-'93-'02 and a couple more for the Camaro. VW Rabbit/Golf Mk1, Mk2, etc.
  11. I seen one in pink today, is that a factory color, Dan?
  12. Rob, AMT did indeed issue '75,'76 and '77 Vettes. Also, they were each reboxed part way through the year only marked as "new" instead of having the year on the box to keep the stock moving. And, don't put much stock in Scalemates. At best their lists are incomplete and sometimes just incorrect.
  13. Actually, Rob, AMT did do '73 and '74 Vettes and the 454 was available in '74 but that was the last year for it.
  14. Sweet !! ???
  15. Same as above but I start sanding with the 3200 or 4000 grit and use each of the next grits through 12000 and then polish with the Tamiya polish.
  16. Remember, if you get a newer grille, you should have the newer style bumpers to go with it.
  17. Well, if you want to part with it Roger, message me and maybe we can work a deal.?
  18. Yea, exactly the same parts as in the original issue and all the non-pro street issues since.
  19. $48.75 at my local shop here in Fredericton.
  20. The rear of the '69/'70 is completely different than the '71/'72 also
  21. So, here's that it looks like all taped together. Should turn out fine but I wonder if I'd be better off just getting a '29 sedan delivery body from Jimmy Flintstone. It would be more accurate in the side panel area and it's only $10USD. But, I'mm gonna keep hacking away at this old thing as I already have it. ?
  22. Well, I wasn't happy with the paint after I got it buffed out. It was full of tiny stress cracks. I don't know where they came from as I didn't twist or flex the body in any way. So, I stripped it and started over. The body came out of the stripper much smoother than the first time too. It looks much crisper this time around. I'm going to go with a gold base this time so the green should be a bit more on the yellow side.
  23. I'm thinking it might be the pro street version.
  24. Pretty well ready for paint now. Just need to fit the rear pan that I cut away from the chassis plate and fix up a glue mark a little better on the trunk lid.
  25. Apparently Atlantis Models has also re-released this 1/32 kit too. I see it listed at several on line vendors. I've never had one so I can't say as to the quality but I do think it's another multi-piece body kit. There's also this Gunze kit in 1/32. Harder to find but it has a 1-peice body and better proportions then the larger Revell/Atlantis kit. I've had their '59 Caddy and these kits are pretty easy to assemble and look good finished.
