How about one from a similar year Buick or Pontiac? They seem to be easier to come by, especially the '62 Buicks. I already have one of the Buicks and seem to see them coming up as builts and parted out quite often.

Been working on the frame and stance. Here's how it's sitting now, about where I want it but the front could still go down a hair. After digging through all the engines I could find, I decided to use the small block from an old AMT '57 Chevy kit. Not exactly sold on the intake yet but I'm gonna try a cross ram 2X4 bbl setup with a set of aluminum valve covers and say it's a '69 Z-28 302. ? I might try getting the engine ahead a bit too.

Was that the Revell '70 you checked the bumper on, Bill? Re-reading the original post, it looks to me like he's looking for a bumper to fit an original MPC '70 annual, but I may be mistaken.

I did some research last night and I see Chevy used this grille from '85 to '91.

Humm, I'd need to find a 1/16 Quadrajet and 4bbl intake. I know the wheels I have are available 3D printed , , , And I'd need a set of decals made. Maybe Ray's Model Decals could help out in that.

I made it. The inside bows are just cut from sheet plastic and the cover is wide masking tape painted black.

Very nice build. I remember doing this kit when it first came out in '80 or '81. It didn't seem to fit in with the other kits Monogram were coming out with at the time,, the first muscle car kits they would be doing like the Hemi Cuda, '69 GTO and '70 Chevelle SS. It may have been reissued at some point as a race car [I don't remember ever seeing one] but the first issue was definitely the same as your build.

No. The Chevy kit wheels are slightly concave, the Coronet Cragar GTs are convex, like most other Cragars. The wheels in question are now in the '76 Caprice kit for the trailer, but just 2 of them. [with different backs, of coarse]

You're on. But I wouldn't bet on that last part though. 1/2 my family lives on Vancouver Island so I may just get to the west coast sometime. I live on the east coast. So far east, you have to go east from Maine to get here.?

Looks pretty close to a '85-'90 to me. I'd imagine the grille cutouts on the lights are so they fit up into the grille to the right depth.

Probably got tired of some of the members on here picking out stuff on his perfect builds and moved on. It happens from time to time on any board. I should add that this is just a guess. I have no knowledge of the man or what he's doing apart from what I seen him post here.

That's what I've been using for decades now. Much thicker than the spray can, almost a jell so it stays on the parts and bodies better , , and a lot less fumes to try to avoid.

Thomas, I think what you mean is "candy orange" and "candy yellow" "Candy" just means it's a transparent paint and the "brandywine" is the actual color ??

Here's true, real House of Color "Candy Brandywine" over silver,, and over a darker metallic grey, kind of a metallic charcoal..

Well, actually Adam, that's basically exactly what those trucks were. Maybe I didn't make myself clear. When I say "There were probably hundreds of those kits sold" What I'm saying is this was a body kit for the real 1/1 trucks. The pics on the box was probably from the brochure for the kit for the real truck. That's why all the pics on the net look like different trucks, because most of them are different trucks.

I don't think the 1/4 glass on the real cars open but I'm sure someone with more experience with them will chime in later. I do know the things you ask about the kit come from the two versions originally released. Both of these kits have been released several times since first issues back in the late '80s.

OK, so I filed some off the top of the front springs. Dropped it down some but I may still see if I can tweak that crossmember a bit in the future, As you can see in this pic, the rear axel is no where near where it needs to be to center the tires in the openings. I cut the rear of the frame off at the drop and added some gussets. I may have to redo that to get the axel lower still but I'm going away for a few days so it'll have to wait until next week.

Agreed, it should have an a power steering pump and a Quadrajet carb but aside from that, it's a well detailed engine with a lot of separate parts. I've always considered it, along with the MPC Elcamino and Chevy pickup engines to be some of the best SBC engines available. I've found that the difficult part of the kit is the underhood area though because of how the firewall, windshield and sides of the body where it all comes together is kinda tricky to get right.
