Anyone know what this kit is?
Can-Con replied to chris chabre's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
He might. He might identify it as the MPC "Hardhat Hauler" It was also reissued back about 20 years ago molded in yellow. -
He'll be back when he feels up to it. I do know what happened but it's not for me to say. I can say though, don't look for him back for a few more weeks. Maybe less if all goes well. Patience people.

What to thin enamels with for airbrush?
Can-Con replied to dawgvet's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Lacquer thinner is all I've ever used to thin down Testors paint for airbrushing. -
Very sweet. I bet those grilles were quite a job to get looking right.

Just perfect !! ?

I'd send that middle one back Curtis, the CHEVROLET lettering is upside down. ?? Seriously, though, they do look pretty good except for one glaring mistake.

Good looking old Philco Cathedral. I bet that would clean up very nicely.

If I was still on the Island, I'd be there. I have family and lived in Courtney for a while and my father lives in Campbell River.

I love old radios and such. I used to have an old Philips "Bullet" table top radio from the early 30s similar to the pic below. Still worked fine but not much to listen too around here on AM radio. One of my friends fell in love with it so I gave it to him. He displays it proudly in his kitchen now. Check out this video Gerald. It might work for you to get that dial back to the right color..

Yup, here's the original cover. You couldn't get away with it today. It's snowing too hard. Heck, you'd be lucky get away with it back in the early '80s when I had a subscription.

Last time I tried that they [Bell] just said "Thanks for being a loyal customer, just drop off your rental equipment at your nearest Bell store when you switch companies". ?

Paint match for 60’s GM Nocturne Blue
Can-Con replied to OldNYJim's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have your posts blocked Joe so I don't see what you post. ? Actually, with the animated GIF and all the extra info in different fonts , sizes and colors, I found your post very cluttered and hard to read and just plain missed that you said anything about Scale Finishes. Wasn't trying to be a shnuk . -
Paint match for 60’s GM Nocturne Blue
Can-Con replied to OldNYJim's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The Ditzler code for that color is 13149. and seems to be a unique formula as there's no other colors with a different name with that code. '66 Chevy Danube blue is super close and Scale Finished does have that. -
I'm glad to see you found that Kurt. I know you've been looking for a 1/2 decent kit of that car for quite a while.

1972 Eldorado. Still Confused
Can-Con replied to Perspect Scale Modelworks's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
There is no Cadillac 500 ci engines in any kits, or 429s either for that matter. JoHan just put Cadillac scripts on the Olds Toronado engine and called it good enough. Actually, if you put those valve covers [which aren't all that accurate either] on a 428 Cobra Jet Ford engine, it would be closer to the Caddy engine than the JoHan engine. At least the distributor would be on the right end of the engine. -
1972 Eldorado. Still Confused
Can-Con replied to Perspect Scale Modelworks's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Keep in mind, a '72 Eldo's wheelbase is almost 6 and 1/2 inches more than the earlier cars like Claude's and over 7 inches more than a '66-'70 Riviera's. -
Super nice. It has a real "'80s Miami" vibe to it.

I've been informed that Snake's had some health problems. I'm sure he'll be back when he's feeling up to it.

It's there. It won't be for long though. I think it was remnants of a design choice Ford changed their mind on between the time the plans were sent to AMT and the body cut and the time the actual car was released. used to happen all the time with promos.

I wouldn't do that to you Patrick. ? It's going to be close to stock. Just mag wheels of some sort and probably a bit of hop-up parts on the engine. Grabber blue paint. It would kinda defeat the purpose of hunting down one of these unicorns to customize it. That could just as easily be done with a common as dirt '69.

Thanks Craig. The original annual AMT '69 Camaros had them too. I think this pair will eventually find their way to the back axle of a '40 Willys.
