  1. Thanks to everyone who replied. It's very nice to get so many good comments on something I worked so long on. ??
  2. If it were me ,,, I'd get an MPC '80/'81 Bronco and bash it with an AMT '94 Lightling pickup that's currently available. I'd graft the grille/bumper wheel openings and tail lights from the Bronco onto the lightning pickup. The Bronco will also give you the older interior.
  3. Somthing like this? I only worked one area at a time so it was never really "all cut up" at once. Here's a link to the build album though. https://public.fotki.com/SteveMilberry/projects/62-chrysler-custom/
  4. All great suggestions. Thanks guys. Right now though ,, I'm thinking Adonis inspired '60 Galaxie. Not a copy but just with some of the design elements used.
  5. Could be cool. Bass boat flake with a red/orange/yellow candy fade would be bitch'n. I'm in a kinda early '60s mood though.
  6. Possibly. But I'd like to do something with a completely different body. If I do a '57 next it might end up too similar to the '62. A good suggestion though.
  7. So, my Chrysler seems to be quite a success. How do I follow up? What could I customize that would have a similar impact? ? ,,, any ideas on what my next full custom build should be??
  8. That's gorgeous !! ???
  9. If it's been sitting for 2 years already and it's not hardened up again by itself, I'd guess it's not gonna. I don't know what else you could do. Have you tried contacting Paul Fisher and asking him about the problem? He might have some ideas.
  10. Thank you everyone. ☺️
  11. Yes, those wheels. They're just the AMT '62 Thunderbird wires slipped into the 5 hole custom wheels that Lindberg put in some of the '34 Ford pickup kits.
  12. I've done that with small parts ,,wheels. They eventually hardened back up by themselves. Couldn't honestly say if a whole body would or not. Wouldn't hurt to just let it alone for a while and see what happens.
  13. Thanks Alan, you humble me.?
  14. Been working on this one on and off for about 7 years. Finally done. so ,, here's the pics ?
  15. Got the back bumper back from LMKCo today. It's attached and I just need to find a suitable licence plate before taking the pics. Should have the pics up real soon. Thanks again on all the kind comments and suggestions on the car.
  16. I'd use whatever I can from the Monogram kit. You just need the block, heads and valve covers from the Riv because they're so much smaller. I'd also use the Monogram intake manifold if you can file it down to fit the Riv engine. The front cover/water pump part on the riv engine is carp. Looked nothing like the one on my real Riv, or any of the other big Buick engines I had. They do interchange between the 430/455 and 350 on the real thing, I've done it. That's the biggest problem with the Riv engine. The intake manifold isn't that great either but it can be hidden a bit with the air cleaner and some plumping and wires. BTW, That "star wars" air cleaner in the riv kit was only available in '67.
  17. I'd also check the AMT '65 Pontiac Bonnevilles. The real cars used the same glass as the Chevys so it stands to reason that the kit glass would work too.
  18. I'd go with the '69 Riviera engine. It's a bit undersize anyway. I'd use the water pump/ distributor assembly from the Monogram '70 GSX. Sand the ribs from the Riviera valve covers and add new ones in the unique 350 pattern from very small 1/2 round strips or stretched sprue. I grew up tinkering on these engines, even still have a set of factory chrome GS valve covers hanging in the garage. ?
  19. Ray, did you get my message about the wheels?
  20. Other unique parts in the kit were the hood, a roll bar, rear fender flares and a radar detector. The wheels are the same wires as the ones in the Monogram Miami Vice Daytona kit. The odd looking front end is actually kind of a cross between what the IMSA and IROC race cars were using on Camaros at the time.
  21. No worries, I miss stuff all the time. ?
  22. True ,,, but it will never be as cool as a glass house Caprice. ?
  23. I couldn't say about that. But,, the 454 wasn't available in California. That may be the source of the confusion. Here's a page from the American '76 Chevy brochure listing the available engines, it's right there. If you can't see the page, here's a link. http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/static/NA/Chevrolet/1976_Chevrolet/1976_Chevrolet_Brochure/1976 Chevrolet Full Size-10.html Wiki also says it was available in full size Chevys through the '76 model year. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_big-block_engine#454
  24. That PE set you have there is for the '65/'66 kits. That front clip is from a '67 kit. You have the wrong sheet for the car. MCG did do a sheet for that '67 Shelby kit but I can't find a listing for it anywhere now. [they show it on their home page though] PS, both sheets they show at the top of their home page seem to be no longer available.
