  1. Hey Joe, you might know this already but, those AMT/MPC gatorbacks came in 3 sizes. Looks like you have the smallest there. I'd have to check my tire stash to be sure but they definitely look right on that Daytona.
  2. I painted this Revell Camaro back about a year and 1/2 ago and it got put away because of the 2018 flood. I hadn't worked on it since but took it out and looked at it a couple times so I decided it would be a good little project to finish up while on vacation. Paint is Scale Finished Emerald Turquoise inside and out with Testors clearcoat. on the body. I'm very impressed on how well the windows fit. Not only is there a step for the glass to fit into, the glass is also stepped so it fits almost flush on the outside. Even after foil and paint, it still fits perfectly. The version I'm building is the Nikey car with the dual quad intake. Not really a fan so I found a nice single 4bbl intake instead. Also not keen on the undersize look of the wheels so I'm swapping in a set of TTs from one of the '32 Ford kits. I've got 6 days left of vacation but there's other things I have to do around the house so we'll see if I can actually finish it by the end of the weekend or not. LOL
  3. Here's a C3 with a C-4 tail. I don't think it looks particularly good. Maybe better if it didn't droop so much. As for the split back window. It's awful. I didn't watch the show, I've only seen pics on the net but I thought it was one of the kits you can buy. They make a lot of those and for every generation Vette. Probably could have looked more natural if it was molded to the body without the seam but then the hatch couldn't open. Aside from the silliness of the hatch, I like the mods and I've always liked that generation 'Vette anyway.
  4. Here's a link to the Kustomrama page on the car. Although I suspect most people would have already seen it. https://kustomrama.com/wiki/George_Barris'_1963_Buick_Riviera_-_The_Villa_Riviera The car was pearl white with red on the roof in "Those Who Think Young" and must have been repainted red right after filming because it's red in promotional shots of the opening of the movie. Also the tail lights have the red section on top in the movie and on the bottom in all shots after. It was also burgundy at one point without the chrome hood ribs and early Firebird tail lights and a different grille treatment. That version would be easiest to build from the kit. There's also pics of the car in what is supposed to be a very dark blue but it looks black to me. Looks really good too. It should also be noted that the real car was built from a brand new '63. The interior was stock except for the added gadgets. Barris' shop put the headlights in the fenders. Production Rivs wouldn't have that until '65.
  5. The movie was "For Those who Think Young". It was on TCM a few days ago, I PVR-ed it and actually just finished watching it. It will be on there again on the 19th. according to their website.
  6. I e-mailed Dale Horner , who owns Little Motor Kar Company yesterday and asked if he was still plating. He got right back to me in less than 2 hours. He's still in business and doing well. His e-mail is,, lmkco@outlook.com if anyone needs to contact him. Dale has done my chrome for several years now, since Chrome+ in Quebec stopped plating and I'm happy with the work.
  7. I had to replace the roller bearings in my muffler last week.
  8. Seems this has been going in that direction for quite a while. About 25 years ago a buddy of mine wanted a new Dodge pickup for work. He wanted a regular 2 door cab and an 8 foot bed, no carpet, low options as possible. There were none anywhere near here . He had to order it from the dealer.
  9. That was the heavy truck guys and they wanted a separate section for "commercial" trucks Bob. ,,, and I agree with that. They don't want builds like mine in their section, so I've been told more than once.
  10. Dan, I was responding to Tom's remark and asked him if that's what he was referring to. Possibly you did not notice that. No need to be snarky, If I had posted a remark like that to you, I bet you'd give me a demerit point. I know you'r view on the subject, you've told me it before. And as I've told you, I disagree with you. In this modern day and age, many people will buy a pickup, van or suv in place of a car. It has the same use in the household. The governments don't make a distinction between a car and pickup or suv unless it it registered in a company name. You live in what's pretty well the truck capitol of Canada, I don't have to tell you this. You see it every day. When this forum started, there wasn't separate under glass sections for cars and basically, everything else. The heavy truck guys wanted a separate section for themselves and when it happened, everything that was not a car got lumped into it. I agree with a heavy commercial section but I feel the light commercial subjects should be included in just a "commercial" section. Pickups such as I build, vans and suvs not with company markings should be in the section with cars. When I enter a show or contest with one of my pickups, it's in the same section as the cars in almost every show I've ever been to. Anyway, I know nothing's gonna change. BUT, I'm posting the next pickup I finish in the cars "under glass" section.
  11. Honestly, I didn't even notice what section it was in when I made responses to it until you complained about it. I come on here and just hit the "posts since last visit" button and get the new posts from all the board. Personally I think having a separate "news and reviews" section for trucks and cars is BS. but whatever.
  12. Maybe you can ask one of the moderators to move the offending posts then . Possibly even go into the original post and remove the references to all non-truck items on the list. Can't have the truck and car builders mixing, you know. But seriously, if it's bothering you that much you should complain to a moderator and have the posts moved or deleted.
  13. BTW, here's a couple shots of my '74 Ron's referring to in his post. He should finish his up too.
  14. You mean like these two Tom? No, they don't look like commercial vehicles to me either.I think different people have different definitions of "commercial". To me, a commercial vehicle is one with company markings. No matter if it's a tractor trailer or a Pinto with a pizza sign on the roof. Your Volare delivery car would be a good example of that.
  15. IIRC, I was not allowed to put this one in the regular "Under Glass" section, Snake.
  16. You might be able to cut down a '64 Impala grille and add some thin strip for the thicker bars. It could also be made from the PE for a boat. Looks like the railing if you knew what size you need. It comes in different scales. It's also possible it's custom made.
  17. Why wait for a new chrome plater to open up? Did something happen to Little Motor Kar Company and that new guy who started plating a year or two ago?
  18. Easiest, safest way is to drill a smaller hole all the way through and use your X-acto knife and round needle files to trim and file the hole the rest of the way to the outside edge of the raised ring. Maybe a cone shaped cutter in your Dremmel if you're brave. Then put in new lenses and reflectors. I've tried grinding them out with a small ball cutter in my Dremmel but almost always slip and make a gouge somewhere I don't want one.
  19. That was the AMT '76 kit that was reworked into the '70 back then, not the MPC. I'm pretty sure it's the newer tool kit that's being released with a new body and front end. I hope they corrected the rear 1/4 panels this time. The body is the one thing that the old kits pretty well nailed originally.
  20. Just checked my AMT '67 Mustang GT and '67 Shelby and both are an exact match.
  21. I do similar also. BUT, I have noticed a difference in the amount of "looks" and comments depending on where I make a post. IF I post a finished car in "Under Glass", I get almost twice as much traffic than if I had posted a pickup in the "Under Glass, Pickups, Vans,,," section. Years ago, when there wasn't the separation, I didn't notice this. It seemed to be fairly even. I just find that odd as I build pickups in basically the same style I would a car. I don't know why that is. Just stating my personal experience. Read of that what you will.
  22. Most of the '70 'Cudas I see do have that chrome. I think maybe it just shows up better on the black grilles. Kinda disappears on the argent ones.
