  1. Here's one for you Dan. Back in the late summer of '96 or '97 I was riding home from work with a couple other guys and seen something very similar to the pic below. For some reason, I didn't bother saying anything to the other guys, just watched it for a few minuets out the truck window until it disappeared. A couple years later I ran into Stanton Friedman and told him the story. He didn't seem too interested at all. LOL
  2. Yea, I've been having a pretty lucky Fall so far. Between these and the '64 I got from you, I'll have no shortage of interesting cars to work on this winter. ? BTW, I already have the bumpers from the '64 and the two '65s I got this week stripped and nearly ready for replating. Just have to drill out the molded in headlights and they're ready to send out.
  3. Picked these up at the Moncton N'B' club's swap meet last weekend. It's the only swap meet of it's kind in my area and I feel pretty lucky to snag these. The '65 Olds and Chrysler were high on my "wants" list. Complete and in good shape. The '68 Chrysler and the Impala are also nice catches.
  4. Yes, Modelhaus ,,but,, Yea, I guess so. The person who posted the pic, it was of the T-bird and 2 other kits, said Don will only be selling 30 or 50 of each kit. I can't remember which it was now.
  5. Don Holthaus had a selection of 3 kits for sale at the big NNL a couple weeks ago, the Thunderbird was one of them.
  6. Haven't had a lot of time to work on it lately but it's on it's wheels. Being a bit of a glue bomb underneath, the frame was warped in a couple areas that were hard to spot but with a couple relief cuts in strategic spots, I think I got it pretty strait. Lowered a bit with cut coils in the rear and flipped king pins in the front. The "Allison Thunderland" funnycar kit the body came from also had new king pins and front backing plates in it. Very handy when restoring these old T-bird kits. Wheels are the Kelsey-Hayes "strippers" from the AMT '63 Corvette with AMT parts pack whitewalls.
  7. That's gonna be sharp in that color combo. Seen one like that for sale in northern Maine back in the '80s. BTW, only the '63 and '64s had the fake scoops in the side, '65s didn't have that at all.
  8. Hey, if I can get 2, you should be able to get one easily. Your cars are cover material for sure.
  9. If you like that, wait till you get a cover. ? ?
  10. Lots of patience. Glued the front to the windshield frame first and worked the back on a couple days later. The trim strips hide the seams at the back.
  11. They weren't all fake. When I had my '82 Firebird S/E I had to buy a torx screwdriver specifically for those screws. Pain in the ,,,,
  12. I was keeping an eye on that one but didn't bother to bid as I have one already. Love that Syd Mead style artwork on the box.
  13. Steve , Here's a couple pics of the JoHan '70 442 wheel in a small MPC tire They look pretty accurate to me if you can see beyond all the old paint. They'd need to be stripped of the old Testors paint and re-finished but I can send them along if you like.
  14. I'll take a couple pics and post them up for you. Honestly, I haven't looked at them in a while but they are nice. Also a touch smaller in diameter than the other 500s available. As I've said before though, my favorites are the ones in the AMT '70/'72 Chevelle SS kits. The depth of them makes them look dead on for the Olds 500s I had on my Nova.
  15. I bet it would be pretty easy for someone with experience making decals to do the lettering as a decal.
  16. I may be able to help you out with that. I have to work tomorrow but let me have a look after work.
  17. Missing link has the earlier caps with the Olds rocket crest in the center, if that helps.
  18. Looks like this will need a new body. I hope they correct the top of the rear fenders on this one while they have the chance.
  19. Yes, definitely trim rings from the factory. My old '79 Nova had the Olds wheels. Chrome spokes, painted rim with stainless steel trim rings.
  20. Steve, I'd suggest the Magnums from the AMT '70 Chevelle SS kit. They have the proper depth and look great when painted properly. My '79 Nova actually had a set of SS Is on it when I got it. They had painted rims with chromed spoke section and stainless trim rings.
  21. "Super Stock 1" was the Magnums. SS IIs were the Olds specific rallye wheels painted silver and the SSIIIs were the same wheel painted body color.
  22. Hate to tell you David, but the '70 dosen't have the rallye wheels in it. It has a set of disc style wheel covers for the stock version. BUT,, it does have a set of 5 spoke mags as an option that could pass for the wheels in the pic of your old car. Sounds like you pretty well have everything you need for your build coming. We'll be watching to see how it goes.
  23. The Magnum 500 wheels should be super easy to find David. They're the most common wheel in muscle car kits. There has to be at least a dozen kits on the market right now with them.
  24. Duke, I tried to tell him last week to find a resin or rebuilder '68 for his conversion. But?? That resin '68 is from Star Models. cast by R+R Resins. It hasn't been on the market for over a decade. Some real old stuff pops up when you do a Google image search. And Rocketfin.com 's resin section is so out of date it probably thinks Baywatch is still on TV. LOL ?? Anyway, the hood is also 100'% different.
