You are correct on this Yuri. Toronado engines were usually light blue metallic.
Other Olds engines at that time could have also been gold. bronze or red the Toro engines were only light blue.
One thing that really bugs me about this kit ,, and no one has mentioned yet is the grille openings in the front bumper.
They really need to be bigger.
Shouldn't be too hard of a job though to just take the grilles right out and file the openings open larger until they look right then replace the grilles with some fine screen.
Just a little quickie project I had painted a couple years ago and finished up mostly while I was on vacation last month.
Paint is Scale Finishes Emerald Turquoise inside and out.
Wheels from a Revell '32 Ford with MPC Radial T/A tires.
Swapped out the dual quad intake for a single 4bbl
Ironic indeed that Modelhaus and Don keep being mentioned.
Seems that a lot of people mentioning it do not realize that Paul did many of the masters that Don sold.
IRC, , and I may be remembering wrong but, , seems to me that Paul mastered those same Mercury wagons and at least had a hand in the '78 Ford Bruce has mentioned.
I've been using 10 for a couple years. Once you get used to a few differences, I don't find it much different than the last version I was using. ,,,, whichever it was, I don't remember now.
But, I just use my machine for surfing and such.
Haven't started a thread on the build as it's one of those "as the feeling strikes" projects. It's actually a bit farther along than in the mock-up pic below, now in primer with the windshield, back glass and chassis from one of the AMT B-body kits fitted to the body. Might end up being more stock than originally planned.
The wheels I have do have pretty good chrome on them.
OK, enough for now, I don't want to throw this thread too far off coarse.
Had to ask, ya just never know sometimes.
Actually, I have a resin copy of the JoHan 1/25 '70 GTX I'll be using those Monogram wheels on to simulate a 16 or 17 inch wheel, as you said.
Outstanding build !! , , When I seen the first pic I thought it was a 1/1.
Yup, I too have a '66 rebuilder. Painted the body in HOK candy teal over silver but never got much further.
Thanks.
It's just 4 inches longer Monty. I just looked it up. Really, All I had to do for the wheelbase was move the rear axle and control arms back a bit. The tires still fit in the wheel houses without touching them.
I used the '65 chassis under this custom I did a couple decades ago. IIRC, I only had to move the rear suspension back a touch. No cutting was involved. I did cut out the molded in exhaust, patched the floor and used solder to make a new exhaust though..
