Why wait for a new chrome plater to open up? Did something happen to Little Motor Kar Company and that new guy who started plating a year or two ago?

Easiest, safest way is to drill a smaller hole all the way through and use your X-acto knife and round needle files to trim and file the hole the rest of the way to the outside edge of the raised ring. Maybe a cone shaped cutter in your Dremmel if you're brave. Then put in new lenses and reflectors. I've tried grinding them out with a small ball cutter in my Dremmel but almost always slip and make a gouge somewhere I don't want one.

That was the AMT '76 kit that was reworked into the '70 back then, not the MPC. I'm pretty sure it's the newer tool kit that's being released with a new body and front end. I hope they corrected the rear 1/4 panels this time. The body is the one thing that the old kits pretty well nailed originally.

Just checked my AMT '67 Mustang GT and '67 Shelby and both are an exact match. -
I do similar also. BUT, I have noticed a difference in the amount of "looks" and comments depending on where I make a post. IF I post a finished car in "Under Glass", I get almost twice as much traffic than if I had posted a pickup in the "Under Glass, Pickups, Vans,,," section. Years ago, when there wasn't the separation, I didn't notice this. It seemed to be fairly even. I just find that odd as I build pickups in basically the same style I would a car. I don't know why that is. Just stating my personal experience. Read of that what you will.

Most of the '70 'Cudas I see do have that chrome. I think maybe it just shows up better on the black grilles. Kinda disappears on the argent ones.

I'll be getting at least one too. The only thing really off-putting to me was the height of the front fenders. That doesn't look right to me compared to the JoHan and MPC. But, looking at Stu's pics above, maybe it's JoHan and MPC that were off. It's long been rumored that the sculptors of those old tools back then took certain "libertys" when sculpting the masters , sweeting a line here or a crease there. Still, the old kits look "right" and the new one looks "off" to me. But not "off" enough to stop me from building it.

'78 RJ3 Citron green poly. I checked Auto Color Library and the '78 Plymouth chart has a list for the Trail Duster with all the same colors on it as on the page below. -
The "Resto Rods" kits have those extra parts in then that was tooled up just for them. The '66 Galaxie in that series also has that extra engine. Generic big block Ford. I'm pretty sure all the kits in that series came with big wheels, racing seats that matched the stock upholstery and an extra engine. All tooled up just for that release. I think the Ford ones are supposed to represent a crate motor like this one, which [according to the web page it was on] is a 480 HP 428 crate engine. The valve covers in the Galaxie match the ones on this engine any way.

Beautiful.

Gold Alclad. Just airbrush light coats on the inside of the glass until you get the desired effect. You'll get that gold tint but still be able to see through it.

OK, thanks. I've never heard that term before this week.

Been working on the interior.I ground the seat inserts out with my Dremmel and cut the inserts from the door panels with the back of my X-acto and a razor saw. The new pleated inserts are 1/2 round rod glued to thin sheet stock. I'll also be putting a new floor in that's a bit deeper than how the part was cast.

OK, so,, Green one is the MPC '70 annual. second, with no side markers is the JoHan S+M '71. Last, with no door handles is the new Revell. I tried my best to get them all at the same angle. Best way to view them all at once is to zoom out.

Fred Cady used to so a sheet for the Trans Am race car that had the strobe stripes but it may be a bit hard to find now. BUT, with 3 different sheets, maybe you can piece together something that fits.

Super sweet ! -
I have a '68, the chassis and engine is definitely the same as the following years. Also, I firmly believe the '71-'73 "hardtop" body is a different tooling than the '74-'76 "colonnade" top body. Way too many small changes to things between them that did not change on the 1/1 cars such as the shapes of wheel openings, trim around the windshields, the long body crease that runs the length of the car, etc. Not to mention tool marks on the inside of the bodys.

Interesting pic. So, which one is the correct scale? I looked it up and a '58 Cadillac is just short of 12 inches longer than a '58 Pontiac. That would be more than 1/8 " in scale, more like 1/2" wouldn't it?

The new one looks fine to me too , except for those easily sanded down wheel lips as Rodent says. I was just trying to make it clear that the car talked about was the older kit, not the one that's being issued now.
