  1. Man ! that's nice !!
  2. You guys sure those arn't Chrysler wheels?
  3. I have one, it's quite a nice, detailed kit.
  4. That does look great. I agree with everyone else, that's a great colour for that car.
  5. I should mention, those pics of the body were taken after a 10/15 minute soak in Easy Off to remove most of the layer of pearl nail polish that I got a paper towel stuck to.
  6. Na, nothing like that. I hit the wet paint on the side on a piece of paper towel.
  7. OK, just spent the last hour and 1/2 wet sanding it smooth and applying a couple more coats of BIN primer. I'll try again tomorrow.
  8. Got the interior painted last weekend. Good to go for flocking and detailing now. Put some paint on today , , had some issues. LOL
  9. Maybe they were supposed to be Cragar "Sparklers". They had a bit of texture to them.
  10. Looks good in that dark red Steve. Hum, three Steves building 3 '67 Bonnevilles, what are the chances of that?
  11. Greg, are you somehow trying to make a case for not making showrods somehow? Both this post and your other poll post has an obscure showrod up against something that seems like it would be a no-brainer for production. Just curious of exactly what you're getting at with these posts.
  12. Anyone ever get one of these ? There's one on the bay right now in the model builders club box ,, for $300. I did but it was missing one 1/2 of the fuselage. Big bucks kit now if you can find one. ,, and I've been looking.
  13. Actually there is a desert in Canada. The Osoyoos Desert in southern B.C.
  14. I got an E-mail from Harry P. a couple months ago.
  15. True, only other thing different between the '71 and '72 is the tail light lenses. Even the sew pattern on the seats and door panels is the same. I doubt they would put both sets of parts in one box but they could do one stock and one as a low rider with wire wheels. Similar to how they did the '64 and '65 Chevy pickups, one was a stepside for one year the the other year was a fleetside. Then they could swap them around again and do the low rider stock and the other one with larger mag wheels pro touring style. There's four versions right there. Funny you should mention Revell though since that's who I heard a rumour about doing it a few years ago.
  16. Those are the jongbloud wheels that were discussed here a few months ago. A couple of the Japanese companys makes something similar but the closest I've found would be the ones in the Monogram "Turbochief" custom '77 TransAm from the early '80s. Love to have a couple sets of those myself.
  17. I doubt it. That's just how the bidding is set up. Say you want that car really bad. someone's already bid $76 on it and want to guarantee you get it so you bid $3000. Your bid does not automatically go up to $3000. It goes up to $77, just high enough to outbid the first guy. So, now your bid is $77 and along comes another guy who wants it bad too. He bids $2599. He has not outbid you, you'r bid of $3000 is still higher. Your bid still does not go up to it's maximum but it makes your bid the next step higher than his, which would be $2600. See how it works?
  18. Yes, a good builder can get good bucks for his builds on e-bay. But it takes time to build up a customer base willing to pay those bucks and a unique model to sell. A Falcon wagon can go for big money BUT A mice build of a common kit like a '57 Chevy for example would have to be a really excellent build to even get your money back out of it.
  19. Na ah, 1970 was the first year for the 500. '75 was just the only year it was available in anything besides the Eldorado. And the 472, which was the slightly smaller displacement of the same engine was introduced in '68. FYI, it was originally designed with the idea of releasing it in up to 600ci form. What a beat that would have been!
  20. You said it yourself Mike, and I've seen a lot of other people say it when the subject of '70s cars comes up. ,,, Make mine a '72, just because my 1/1 was a '72 but a '71 wouldn't be bad.
  21. OK, so, anyone know how this thing fits in with the other MPC Toronados? Looks like it was produced about the same time frame as the Mannix car but could be the year before or after. One-shot body and interior maybe?
  22. Yes, none of the resin casters I've seen so far seems to be able to capture the lines of the car correctly. I have an R+R, which is a cheap copy of the AAM casting and it's off in several places. I have also held the Modelhaus peice in my hands and while better, it wasn't "better enough" to make me cough up the hundred bucks for it. I haven't seen the Airtraxs one in person yet so I'd also be interested in seeing if the roof/rear window/deck lid area was corrected.
  23. Hi Patrick. yes, you are correct about the tail gate. I used the part from a '65 with the letters and made the trough just above it from scraps of sheet plastic. I did the side trim with two sizes of plastistruct strips. Ran them parallel with each other leaving a small gap for the black strip between them. If you're gonna make a '67 or '68 from a cab that wasn't originally, remember you will need to do something with the gap left around the grille insert. That area is moulded to the cab on those kits. [unless of corse you got one of those resin grilles with it already attached] You might also want to think about modifying the tail light area, it's awful on those kits.
  24. I'm totally convinced that it was the sheer power of his incredible mind that kept him alive for so long. It's a hell of a disease , My uncle Albert, who was helping me with my 1/1 car was diagnosed with ALS about 1 and 1/2 years ago and it works fast on most people. 3 years from first diagnosis is the norm.
