I agree completely

Chris, can you still edit that article, you made a few mistakes. First, There's no separate pan below the rear bumper of the '68/'69 Chevelles. The chassis for the '69 ElCamino was indeed modified to fit the body. Not only in the wheel wells but it was also stretched to fit the Elky's wheelbase then shortened back up after for the following hardtops and the convertible. And the rear bumper for the '70s and following reissues of the '69 kits was not just modified, it's a completely different part. Here's a couple pics of both[with the tail light areas removed]. The original is noticeably wider and with slightly different contours because of that. .

Can-Con replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This? https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vtg-32-scale-amt-100-503-mckee-1781231247 BTW, I originally posted this Sunday afternoon, don't know what happened to the post. It seems to have completely disappeared. -
Um, guys, yes, 302 in '79 but he said '80/'81, which according to the brochures I just looked up and Tim's post above, is correct.

66 Johan/Hasegawa Cadillac bumper
Can-Con replied to hedotwo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Looks like the JoHan is just a hair over 1 MM wider then. Might still work by cutting both ends from the center and mating them to the JoHan center. BTW, the Hasegawa was copied from the JoHan kit for a slot car back in the '60s. -
Yes, some NICE Kelseys would be great. The ones in the Revell '32 sedan are pretty bad, if that's what they are supposed to be.

I just used it to do some posts here and on a couple other sites, no problems with mine.

OK, so, back on this one. Been working on the interior, Painted the dash and steering wheel in a darker fuchsia and flocked the floor in a matching color I mixed up. The seats and arm rest are not glues down, just sitting there for the pic. Also, I cleaned up the paint that bled under the masking tape since I took these pics. I also worked on the inner fenders a bit. Since these have indents like some other older AMT kits, I cut some pieces of sheet plastic to cover them and puttied them up and will smooth them off.

66 Johan/Hasegawa Cadillac bumper

I have one of the Hasegawa kits, I'll measure the bumper and post a pic for you later today but I'm pretty sure they'll fit. -
OK, just wondering because there's no way you'd get those wheels and tires under a real one .?

Turned out great, Tom. Love the color and vinyl roof. When you say it's "similar to one he had", I assume you mean a model and not a real 1/1 Eldorado.
-
Right you are. I just checked my builtup copies, there's 3 very fine vertical stripes in the grille sections, easy to miss if you're not looking for it.

You used to see a lot of those mid-size Gm cars on Blazer frames back then. I remember a particular '66/'67 GTO like that around here. Strange since pre-1970 Pontiac A-bodies weren't even sold in Canada. I think it may have been a quick and dirty way of dealing with all the rusted out frames on them. I had a '70 Skylark Custom convertible that the frame went to powder right at the kick-up in front of the rear axle.

Don't know if you're aware or not but aside from the Skyhawk scripts and Buick emblem on the nose, which are all so faint they'll be lost after a couple coats of primer and paint, the kit is identical to the '75-'77 or so Chevy Monza annual kits.

Beautiful, love it. ?

Nice bunch of trucks there, Chuck.

Except for those front fender flares being molded to the body with nothing behind them. You can easily cut them off but building up the section of fender in front of the wheel opening isn't exactly "easy". I'm used to doing major bodywork on customs and I'd think at least twice before attempting it.

OK this might be a stupid question but with all the talk of Model King and Pegasus in the last pages, will this kit be available to us here in Canada at our local hobby shops? -

Nice to see the body parts line up so well. I have an old '65 Elky body and plan to do the same conversion eventually. -

Finally got it done up yesterday evening. It's the very old MPC kit from the '60s that I was gifted from Steve-O many years ago. Basically a reasonably simple rebuild. Stock body, no mods. The rear door window area was pretty damaged so the rear doors were replaced courtesy of Steve Curbishly who sent me a replacement pair. I lowered the suspension by swapping the axles from below the springs to above and trimming some material from the spring mounts. I widened the stock wheels and shaved the spokes for a better look. Engine is the OHC Pontiac 6 from the MPC '69 Firebird kit built stock with plug wires added. Paint is Duplicolor GM Cordova brown metallic. All chrome was redone with Revell spray except the front bumper which I did with BMF to see how much difference there would be. First, a couple "before" pics and the "after" ,,,And here's a link to the build album with more pics,, https://public.fotki.com/SteveMilberry/projects/32-chev-sd/
