  1. Just came across this pic while looking for something else.
  2. OK Ron, "stupid question time" ,, why didn't you just graft the Revell underhood area to the JoHan body which is actually a '72 anyway? Just curious why the extra work . Looks good though.
  3. It's a Loreal nail polish I put over a custom mix light yellow acrylic.
  4. Thanks guys. Here's a link to the build album if anyone's interested. http://public.fotki.com/SteveMilberry/projects/66-corvette-cvt/
  5. Here's what I started with,, ,, And here's the finished restoration,,,
  6. That was Ron's project actually. Mine was the convertible. But, I do have a white hardtop too. BTW, did you sell yous recently? I remember seeing one very similar on e-bay a few weeks ago.
  7. Nice save !. Great to see these old kits given the attention they deserve.
  8. That looks great , super save on that one !
  9. Very nice work !
  10. Used most of the engine from the current issue AMT '63 split window coupe but kept the original valve covers. They just looked nicer even with one damaged. Just added plug wires and some lines on the injection unit for interest.
  11. Has anyone tried the tires from the AMT '70 Monte Carlo low rider on those wheels? The low rider tire are more modern radials but they are 13 inch. May fit and look much better than those things.
  12. Na, didn't think to on this one. I stripped it years ago, Closest I have is this pic. You can see it in the bottom box on the bottom left corner in that beautiful Testors bottle green.
  13. Not all of them ,, Hey, I got mine.
  14. As a former 1/1 '69 Riviera owner, I can say the AMT '66 chassis is correct for that swap. For the '65, the back part behind the wheels is different but IIRC, the rest of the chassis is the same.
  15. Exactly right Steve. Your method is almost the same as mine. But I use a custom mix of Tamiya acrylics instead of smoke. Then I clearcoat them and polish them out . Here's a shot of some from the last batch I did last week. These are a bit darker than the ones in the other pic and look about twice as dark as this in person. For some reason it doesn't show up as dark in the pics.
  16. Take a closer look Harry. I did tint the whole thing in a factory shade too, front and back.
  17. I'll just keep doing mine as I have for over 25 years now.
  18. Um, don't know what '69 Novas you've been looking at Richard but all the ones I've seen do indeed have metal inner fenders, not plastic ,,and usually rusty in this part of the world. And a Nova being a unibody car without a frame, they help keep the front fenders, radiator wall, etc in place and lined up properly. The only time you'd see one of these cars without inner fenders is if it's a race car.
  19. I knew his daughter was selling the decals on e-bay last time, I had heard Billy himself had died a few years ago. Kinda figured they were out of business when they disappeared from e-bay several months ago.
  20. I used Tamiya bottle clear acrylic over the Scale Finishes paint on this car. Turned out great with minimal polishing.
  21. I've always wanted some of those but never seen any in my area. I'd love to have the whole set, even with the 2-peice tires.
  22. The hot rod parts were put in the '34 3 window coupe. That kit was also only issued once too.
  23. I'd rather see them do a new body. That way they could correct the tops of the rear fenders at the same time.
  24. Hey Ken, welcome. What part of BC are you from? I have family on the island and lived there for a while when I was a kid myself. About the truck, Closest you'll be able to find in a regular kit is the '50 AMT makes. Really nice kit. There was someone doing the '54 cab to convert the AMT kit years ago but I don't remember who it was, maybe someone else here could help with that.
  25. Super job Raoul. Looks great. Nice catch on flattening the deck lid area, I think it's the first one of these conversions I've seen that caught that detail.
