Photo-etched set for Dodge Charger
Can-Con replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Model Car Garage makes sets for the '67, '69 and '71 Chargers. -
Yes,, Escape pod has some really good stuff there. I haven't listened to any in a while because it was throwing up a warning on my Norton but it seems clear the last few times I've checked in on it. I'm not familiar with the other ones but they sound interesting. I'll have to check them out when I get a chance.

Have you listened to "X Minus 1" and "Dimension X" at archive.org ? Great old NBC radio plays from the '50s with mostly great quality audio. "Mind Webs" is pretty good too. It's from the '70s,I think but the audio quality is kind of spotty. I've been listening to this for a while now. Heard al the shows a couple times but still good to listen to while building. https://archive.org/details/XMinus1_A

69 nova revell > barnfind > fully detailed engine bay
Can-Con replied to crazyrichard's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Yes, some oven cleaner would have all those parts stripped of paint in no time. -
It's not the age of the paint, it's what's under it. If you put transparent yellow, which that paint it, over grey or black it will look green. years ago I had a shirt that had thin black /yellow pinstrips, it looked greenish from across the room.

Two more iconic cars we need kitted
Can-Con replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bricklins have always gotten a bad rap but they could run with a comparatively equipped Vette made at the same time. A few performance upgrades would have made a world of difference,, like at least 4bbl carb But then again, they were supposed to be "safety cars" , not performance cars and were aimed at a different market. Makes a person wonder just what we could have had if the emphasis was on performance and they had a few more years to develop the car. I've always loved the Bricklin from day 1 but then again I'm prejudiced, the body panels were made in my tiny home town and final construction was done less than an hour away. Pretty headdy stuff for a 9 year old. -
Dekon monza #1014 Al Holbert's IMSA race car......update 7-24.
Can-Con replied to Kennyboy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Man, you guys are really making me want to revisit this old thing I did back around '83 or so. LOL. The rear wing was based on a street driven IMSA Monza featured in one of the magazines at the time. [Hope the pics are OK, I'll remove them in you like] -
Ron, sometimes I feel like the Rodney Dangerfield of the model car world.

You must mean the one that was shown being built on the board a couple years ago and took months to do? It's on my TV in my living room.
-
Wouldn't those be strait 6s, not V6s? I thought Ford hadn't offered v6s in domestic cars until the Mustang II in '74?

AMT '39 / '40 Ford Sedan
Can-Con replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Pretty sure the "diamond in the rough" kit was issued well before the "Millennium" and Steven's International issues. -
No worries about that now. The cowl was corrected early in the run and anyone who got one was able to get a correct replacement from the company, including glass, hood and whatever else was on the trees with them. Here's a pic to show the difference in the bodies. The original is on the left and corrected on the right. [NOTE, I had cut the inner fenders from the incorrect body for another project, they were the same as the corrected part.

Right on the tires but the wheels are 4 bolt and were an option on those cars. -
I have the 58 and '59 Chevy parts. I'm looking for a set of the big custom wheels and tires from the Resto Rods issue of the AMT '66 Galaxie or '66 Mustang. Here's what the boxes look like.

AMT '65 Vette cvt restomod , July 30 ,, engine work
Can-Con replied to Can-Con's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks Steve. It dosen't show in the pics but I really should have put more prep work in the body before I painted it. It could have been better but I got excited to see how it would look. You know how it is. LOL -

Can-Con replied to Can-Con's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Painted the body over the weekend. Mixed up some pale yellow in Testors acrylics for the base coat and put the pearl yellow nail polish over it. I'll let it gas out for a few days and clear it with some Tamiya bottle acrylic . -
The Revell '58 and '59 Chevys both have connie kits like in your pics. Thier '55 Chevy convertible has one in some issues. The first issue for sure, don't think it's in the Indy Pace Car issue though. Also, a lot of the old Annual kits from the early '60s had them.

59 Cadallic-Revell: Has anyone built this kit
Can-Con replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Yea, that's my only complaint with the kit but every 1/25 '69 Caddy kit I can think of, JoHan original, Ghostbusters cars and a lot of the die-casts have been done like that for some reason. -
Cool build and a cool 1/1. I had a '79 coupe years ago. Strange car. Base model 6 auto, No options at all except for the suspension upgrade. So plain, no light in the glovebox or even a place for the dome light switch in the passenger side door jam. Looked pretty cool though in it's silver-blue paint with 8" wide Magnum 500s and white letter tires. Not the fastest car off the light but handled like it was on rails. I miss it but it rusted out from under me.

OK, This is the version I have. Clearly marked as the "street machine" version but it looks like it has exactly the same contents as the regular version. I opened up a fresh one to make sure I hadn't pirated the parts out of the first box but it has the exact same contents as the first. The only gasser parts in it were the front cross member for the strait axle. No axle or fuel injection parts in these versions. Never knew that before so if you want the gasser parts don't get this one.
