So, I just looked through one of my copies of the kit. Mine have slightly different artwork on the box top but pics of the same built model. Mine does not have the chrome strait axle or the fuel injection parts. Seems some issues of the kit do though as there's pics of the parts on the side of the box. What is in mine that is not in the Nomad is a nice chromed Weiand intake and air cleaner and a new 4bbl carb. Also some seprate door arm rests and a cluch-brake pedal part and an '80s style aftermarket steering wheel for the interior. The new chrome engine stuff look a lot like the intake parts in the AMT '34 Ford hot rod.

It is. They were also in the 4-packs assortments for around 14.99 for 4 kits. Pretty sure there were a few assorted parts in there that wern't in the other issues, I'll go check later.

Fixing a Bird (or There He Goes Again!)
Can-Con replied to MrObsessive's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Yea, I kinda messed up my math too. The RR came out in '89 and the Superbee came out in '94 so around 4 to 5 years depending on months. GTX convert in '90 and GTX hardtop in '91. Hard to believe it's been around 1/4 of a century already! -

That's just some incredible work there Bill. Big improvement over how the body was cast. [BTW, the '68 Road Runner came out first, in the late '80s, somewhere around a decade before the '70 SuperBee was reissued with the newer chassis.] -

Can-Con replied to Can-Con's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Been tinkering with this one after finishing the GTO last week ,, I built the engine and got it painted. I also did a bit of work on the wheels. I cut the center from a set of MPC 6 bolt wheels and added them to the wheels on the truck, which had weak detail in that area. I think it looks more "truck like". Would like to have a bit taller tire but these are all I have that fir the rims. -
I'll be keeping an eye on this one Aaron, I have one of those pickups to redo someday too. I've already had the chrome replated and got new glass from Modelhaus. Steve, love that truck !!

It's been all over the radio hare in Canada for the last couple days. Gord Downie, lead singer for the Hip announced yesterday morning that he had an uncureable brain tumor. It's not been said how long he's expected to hold out but they have announced that they will do one last tour this summer for the fans. No east coast dates were announced though. Maybe they'll add some for us Maritimers in the future. With all the music threads here lately, I thought some may like to know that haven't heard yet.

You guys realise this thread is over 9 years old, that's probably why you can only see one pic.

Very nice Ray. Looks sharp in that paint scheme.

Finally finished it up. Can't say I'm 100% happy with how it came out so I'm gonna consider this a trial run for a better buildup next time. Not a horrible kit but I think the tail lights on this one should have been moulded in with the rest of the rear chrome as you can't really see much red on the real ones anyway. The headlights really need to be retooled again too,, correctly this time. I have a Modelhaus copy of the original front bumper/headlight part, which looks much better but I opted to save it for the next go at the car and used the part from the current kit which is not awful but not as good as the original. Paint is Scale Finished '65 Tiger Gold with Testors semi gloss black. Wipers and front fender emblems are photoetch. The rear fender GTO emblems were supposed to be PE too but I lost one. Decals from the Polar Lights '64 GTO were used instead. Red line tires and door mirror are from the parts box. I also dropped the hood as I was carying the car to my photo setup and took a big chip of paint off the front tip. Grrrrr indeed! LOL

Missing Link 70-71 cyclones
Can-Con replied to kevin l's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Kevin, If I may ask, what are the differences? I've looked at the pics several times and I just can't pick them out. -
Mark, unless something was changed since it was last issued, the wheelbase of the chassis plate matches the wheel openings on the body as they should. This one was built from the last issue. On the Chevy chassis, Back then, the various big GM cars used different chassis under each make. The Chevy chassis would be different than the one under a Pontiac [unless is was a Canadian Pontiac] Of corse, this dosen't explain the wheelbase question. and, with that said, I doubt many people could tell the differences in the chassis between the Chevy and Pontiac anyway ,, I know I couldn't.

Very nice. I'm sure your customer will be very pleased with it. BTW, AMT did do a '65 roadster annual back in 1965 ,, I'm restomodding one right now.

Kustom Khrome
Can-Con replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, LMK does their own plating. They've done a couple trees for me and they turned out fine. I used to have Chrome+ in Quebec do mine but Louis hasn't set back up for plating since he moved to a new home several years ago. Too bad since he did excellent work and charged less than 1/2 what the other platers charged. Plus he's in Canada so that made shipping a lot easier for me. -
Resin 1967 Chevy Pickup?
Can-Con replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
IIRC, Time Machine Resins did a full kit '67 or '68 shortbox fleetside. I seem to remember it on their e-bay store site but there's no listing at all there right now. -
Help wanted with engine ID
Can-Con replied to landman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yup, you guys are right. I have the sprue from the 1500 stepside right here in my hand and the engine/tranny is the same as the one in the pics. I read in the review of the 454 kit in one of those model magazines that they just switched heads and associated parts to make the 455, guess not. -
Help wanted with engine ID
Can-Con replied to landman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just checked my unbuilt SS 454. The sprues are indeed from that kit ,, but the unattached engine/tranny halves are not. BTW, back in the day, AMT just added the parts to the kit to make the engine look like a 454. Same old block/tranny, etc. as the small block in the other pickup kits. That's where the small block exhaust manifolds came from, they just weren't blocked off like some of the other small block specific parts. -
I's been pretty popular to be down on some of my favorites from the UK but I still like them and listen to the albums ,, er,, cassettes. And, of coarse,, Don't ya just hate it that Harry told me how to post videos? LOL Being born in '65, this is what was on the radio in my teens so I guess it's what sparks the fondest memories of my youth.

When the AMT Sunbeam Tiger kit comes out, it should have a very nice set in it also. -
AMT '65 Vette cvt restomod , July 30 ,, engine work
Can-Con replied to Can-Con's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Coming along pretty good. Just have to finish the repairs on the rear panel. The original builder used the 6 tailight custom option and it was broken around the openings. That's the last part of the bodywork to be finished now. The revell snapper kit interior is a pretty good fit after some minor modifications.
