  1. Looks great Ron. Super work on the conversion, especially the back.
  2. One of the first cars I got the use of as "my own" was a '74 Bobcat wagon. Drove it until the headlights rusted out of it and the doors were ready to fall off.
  3. The '77 Ventura was converted to the Nova.
  4. Thanks guys. Some of you are asking about the red on the first one. Sorry, I had thought I had answered sooner ,,anyway,, I can't really give a good answer to that queation as I don't know exactly what it is myself. A friend of mine runs the bodyshop at a local Ford dealer. few years ago he dropped off a box of leftover paint in touchup bottles. This is one of them. All it says on the top of the bottle is "Contour red". Last year Contours were made was 2000 so, my best educated guess is the paint is 2000 Ford Toreador red.
  5. I have a front bumper/headlight unit coming from Modelhaus for mine. Might even use the underhood stuff and chassis from the Polar Lights '64 kit. Also have a PE set from MCG for emblems and a bottle of Tiger Gold coming from ScaleFinished. Yea, I've been thinking about a build of this kit for a while. Wish I had got one of the resin promo copies from Missing Link when they were doing them though.
  6. Disappointing, isn't it.
  7. It's a big block Mopar of some sort. The valve covers and shape of the oil pan would indicate that.
  8. I think a "phantom" AAR convertible would be cool. You could bash it with the existing hardtop to have a proper AAR coupe AND a hemi convertible.
  9. Grass and buffalo, real nice dioramas.
  10. Putting this thing together for a friend and fellow club member. He builds ships and plains but didn't want to tackle this project. I suggested Modelhaus to him for a Falcon kit but he got this one from Australia instead for some reason. Quality is about R+R level and no chrome. I don't know what he paid for it but I still think he'd have been better off with the Modelhaus kit.
  11. Same here. But I think it barely counts as a cover any more than "Ice Ice Baby" counts as a cover of "Under Pressure" or "Can't Touch This" counts as a cover of "Super Freak".
  12. Could be, The movie came out the year before the song.
  13. So, here's the green one. As you can see, the decals don't look as good as I'd hoped. More of a brown/beige combo than golds. Still, should look better with the tan interior in place.
  14. Falco's song, the ATF version was a cover actually released over a year later AFTER the band broke up. The german lyrics don't translate that close to the english either.Laura Branigan also did a cover of it a year after titled Deep in the Dark with completely differnt lyrics Falco wasn't a one hit wonder though. "Rock Me Amadeus" was huge and there were a couple more but then again, maybe not in the US, Eh?
  15. "Pop Goes the World" and "Hey Men" both did better on the charts here in Canada but as Rob says above, the "one hit wonder" thing is geogeaphic. Take for example Dexies Midnight Runners. One hit in North America but 4 other top 10 songs in thier native U.K.
  16. [506] 867 5309 is the current phone # of the used car department of the Ford dealer in Moncton NB. I couldn't believe it the first time I heard it, had to hear it a couple more times until I accepted that I heard it right.
  17. Oh, BTW, no one ever made a '74 Caprice convertible kit so there are no resin copys out there. They're was a '71 Impala cvt promo but the boot was wrong anyway.
  18. You could do what I did and make one. They are pretty flat. It's a lot harder to modify the trunk lid, tulip panel and windshield
  19. Not a color you'd expect on a big '50s Caddy but it sure looks great !!
  20. Great save ! Looks perfect with the vinyl top and Magnum 500s.
  21. As far as I know, the Missing Link hood is the "air grabber" bulged hood. I remember seeing a flat hood listed somewhere but I don't remember who cast it or if it's for the old or newer kit. Here's what the original MPC '72 looks like. It has a louvred, bulged hood horizontal vents in the doors and hidden headlights. The original MPC '74 and,IIRC, '73 had flat hoods. Here's a pic of my '74 project. In these pics you can see the differences in the rear side windows too. Sorry, maybe not much help.
  22. The '69 windshield fits Daniel, I don't think the newer '66 will fit because of the way it mounts to the inside of the body. ,, The windshield pillars would work though
  23. One thing to keep in mind is the Modelhaus front bumper and grille is a copy of the original MPC kit parts. The newer AMT kit is wider than the original MPC kits. The Missing Link parts are made the proper size for the AMT kit though.
  24. One thing to consider is that would should be a pretty easy fix. You don't need an original body for the pillar. One from the new tool AMT '66 Riviera should work fine. Also, the old tool '69 will work, in fact, the glass from the AMT '69 Riv fits pretty good in those JoHan Toros, I've tried it. If you do go that route, I'd replace both A pillars, just so they're 100% the same.
  25. Hey Chris , you missed an epic estate sale this weekend. Mostly sports cars though, no trucks that I seen. Anyway, in that engine, you might also want to move the distributor closer to the front. Most people miss this detail.
