Gonna do some basic detailing. Just plug wires, heater hoses , battery cables and maybe break lines from the master cylinder to the bottom of the firewall. Interior will be beige. Testors "desert sand" if I can find it. I do plan to make the front wheels poseable though and add a roll bar, brush guard and some off-road lights. Just what you'd expect to see them like on the road in the early '80s after they've been used a few years. Maybe gone to the 2nd owner who wanted to "fancy it up" a bit.

Well guys, whatever color they came in , mine's black like the original box art. Just having fun being 13 again and revisiting an old friend. Anyway, the Gooch decals are an exact copy of the originals so that means the tailgate "Warlock" decal is a bit too big to fit in the recess in the tailgate properly. Seeing as I can't shrink the decal, I made the recess slightly larger, I cut the area from the tailgate and filed the opening slightly larger so the decal would fit better. Glued a thin piece of plastic in the opening and puttied it up a bit to fill the seams. Not a big deal but should make a world of difference when it's all finished. This is the only bodywork I plan to do aside from regular mold line cleanup.

If you're using IE. all you should need to do is add this site to "compatibility view" in your tools menu. I was having the same problem and it worked for me.

Actually, any polish will take off the fog. I use Tamiya myself but whatever you use to polish your paint will do it. I've also found that super glue fog won't form on anything painted with an acrylic such as Tamiya. I'd suspect the same goes for "future" as it's really just a water based acrylic clear paint.

They're in the older AMT [MPC] '57 Corvette gasser [street machine] with the pink car on the cover .

"Exciting" new release ?

Monkeemobile was done by Dean Jeffries. There would be an interesting thread ,,, "What cars have George Barris taken credit for that he' had nothing to do with?" -
Thanks Chris. I have a nice set of modern pickup radials I think you'll like. IIRC, they came in some of the AMT '90s snaptite pickup kits. Maybe on the suspension. I can always use a diff cover from a Dana rear on it and make it look OK. Could use a Dodge transfer case and driveshafts though. I could make the GM one work but it's way off from what the Dodge one looks like and mounts to the frame.

very pretty car Steve.

Very nice ! I've always liked those Novas in dark green. They just look so right in that color.

Had an original back in the '70s when I was about 13 and had great fun with it. I've been wanting another crack at it again for ages but never had the decals to do it and can't afford an original. Now I have new decals from Gooch, I'm gonna do it up like I had always envisioned it in my youth. Still have the wheels from my original and that was about it but I think I can cobble something together from what I have. Mostly, it's the LRE reissue. Front axel and transfer case is from the last issue MPC GMC '84 4X4. I know it's way not right but it's what I got. Hopefully I can find a fresh set of the Desert Dog tires but these used ones will have to do for now. Biggest hangup is the "Warlock" decal for the tailgate is too large for the area it's supposed to go on so I'm gonna have to do a bit of surgery to the tailgate. I also cut the rear fenders from the box to make it easier to paint and polish that area. Already put a couple coats of Tamiya gloss black on the body parts and glued the engine block together so I'm on my way.

This is the one I'm waiting for. I think I'll have a long wait. -
"Exciting" new release ?
Can-Con replied to Krazy Rick's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll be getting one. I think those kind of kits are just fun. A nice break from a more "serious" project. After all, isn't a hobby supposed to be fun? If you don't like the subject, don't buy it. That simple. Most of us aren't interested in figure kits , Gundams and the like but we don't go on a car forum and complain about whatever company making them shouldn't be doing it. Why should a fantasy showrod like this be any different because it has 4 wheels and an engine? I have no interest in building a semi truck or a rail dragster but I certainly won't complain about the companys making them. -
'62 Chrysler 300, Update, Color On, 3/7

Can't have too many '62s on the go Steve. I'm thinking on starting up on my custom version again too. Maybe too many '62 Chryslers on the go by Steves though ?? -
need help about a 76 chevy van
Can-Con replied to guybrush's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That crease in the side panels was added to the kit for the A-Team version, which is an early '80s GMC. It wasn't originally on the kit in the '70s. Pretty sure it was added on the real vans in '77, a '76 shouldn't have it. -
It's Ford royal blue they used a few years ago. A good friend of mine is the manager at the body shop of a local Ford dealer, he brought me a bunch of partly full touch-up bottles with some leftover paints from jobs they had done. This is one of them. I figured it looked pretty close to '69 Pontiac liberty blue.

What kit did this part come from?
Can-Con replied to Mr mopar's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That was my first thought too. -
Thanks again everyone. I appreciate all the positive comments.

Thanks again everyone. Just want to add that the engine and rad wall stuff is from the Monogram '69 GTO as are the centers of the wheels. The rims are from the Monogram '91 [ish?] Corvette ZR1 turned backwards with the centers dremelled out. Snake's right about the Model King issue having stock decals, thats the kit I used. The rear wing isn't exactly stock though. It's the 3 piece thing that's been in all the reissues of the MPC '70 and '72 GTOs Kind of a custom piece. I put together and made the 2 supports from scratch and kinda waffled on using it but decided to put it on a couple weeks ago.

Thanks guys. The paint is Ford royal blue from about 10 years ago. Sonny, yes, I prefer 1/25 as almost all my kits are that scale. Also I feel the MPC body looks a bit better than the Monogram one.

What a super build !!

She's all done now. I'll post it in "under glass" as soon as I can get a chance to take some pics of it.
