  1. Last time it happened here I had a station on the radio in the car going to work. The guys were listening to a heavier station when I got there. Went out to the car to eat lunch and thought someone was screwing with me and changed the station, totally different "top 40" play list, different D.J.s, etc. Absolutely no warning whatsoever. Oh well. Thankfully I have loads of data on my phone and a blue tooth radio and don't have to listen to that carp. ?
  2. Yea, you can only listen to Nickleback, Alanis Morrisette and Steppenwolf so may times until you want to go down to the station and burn it down. ?
  3. Local oldies ['70s/'80s some '70s and 'early '90s] radio station I usually listen to at work started playing Taylor Swift almost constantly last Thursday evening. I mean besides the CRTC mandatory Canadian content which was about 1/3. So you'd have one or two Canadian then two or three Swift. ? Pretty bad. That went on until this morning when they switched to an all "modern top 40" format. ? I'm not a 14 year old girl so I'll be listening to another station from now on. ?
  4. The AMT Pacer wagon kit also has a 6 but it's not as detailed as the MPC one , which I've always thought was nicely detailed.
  5. Looks great. Super paint. Monogram also did a snap kit '80/'81 turbo Camaro in 1/24.
  6. Cleaned up the ends of the breaks where the previous owned tried to glue it back together with a 1/2 tube of glue. Cut a couple lengths of "C" channel down the center and used them to reinforce the outer side of the frame. Now it's strait and strong enough to work with.
  7. Decided to go with the smooth fender unit. Filled the exhaust holes and slightly widened the rear to accomodate the wider tires I'll be using on the back.
  8. About that body/frame thing,,, It's a "hot rod", there is no "right or wrong". Just my opinion, of corse.
  9. I did try decanting it and airbrushing it ,, didn't work too well. No where as good as strait from the can.
  10. Thanks Mike but I can't take too much credit for that, just following the natural contours of the car.
  11. Right. No convertible Thunderbirds from the factory from '66 until the "nostalgia" 2 seat birds in the 2000s
  12. I think what they're getting at is he designed the kit parts, how they're shaped in plastic, how they fit together, the layout of the parts trees, that kind of thing as opposed to the actual 1/1 parts.
  13. Ah, yes. He was a great customizer. Definitely a trendsetter in the field.
  14. This is a project I've been thinking about for a couple years now. Originally I was going to swap the formal '69 roof with the fastback '71 roof but I see that's been done already and I wanted to do something I hadn't seen before. SO, I'm doing a convertible in the vein of the '62-'66 where the top hides under the hard panels behind the rear seat instead of just being covers with a boot. I'm using pieces from a couple kits. The body wasn't too bad but I only have one spare chassis for this generation Thunderbird kit to use and it's a major glue bomb. I do love a challenge. The custom front and rear ends are from the '68 kit. The front pan is the same as the one in the '69 kit but the rear is quite different as the '69 went from the '67/'68 full width tail lights to more common rectangular units. The '68 custom tail light and front grille features huge Thunderbird crests which I love the look of and is the main reason I wanted to build this. So, here's what I'm starting with. An original '69 body and interior and the glue bomb chassis. , , and what the custom front and rear ends look like. The roof cut off, , I cut the package shelf from the interior bucket and glued it in place in the body then added some sheet plastic to fill some gaps then puttied it all up. I scribed new panel lines in the deck mimicking those in a '64-'66 convertible. and in primer almost ready to start painting. That was the easy part, now to start on the chassis. I did get it all cut apart with the help of a X-acto saw blade. , , , to be continued,,,
  15. Hey, it's not like someone disagreed with you about calling Bareass a "designer". ?
  16. I had an actual '76 Caprice Classic Landau, it definitely came with a 454 from the factory. The kit engine is actually a carry over from the '68 Impala kit along with the chassis plate.
  17. I took a set from an MPC '72 GTO, separated the center from the rim from the centers by grinding from behind with my Dremel. Then I did the same thing with the M.P. Spider wheels that come in the '80 T/A kit and combined the GTO centers with the T/A wheel rims.
  18. Like Les said above, 99% Isopropyl alcohol should do the trick. Just moisten a cotton ball or piece of paper town and bub until all the paint is off.
  19. OK, so, Here's a pic of the Cabriolet fender unit with the exhaust holes filled with a piece of sprue. ,,And here's the primed body sitting on the primed fender unit with the spare tire wells that came in the kit. I'm flip/flopping on which fenders I want to use now. as well on paint and engine choices. ? Thinking about the hopped up strait 6 from the AMT '51 Chevy now and deep metallic brown for paint but ??? Also, the like new rear doors a friend sent me for the project.
  20. Here ya go Dan. The round headlight grille is from my MPC '78 re-builder. As you can see, the bezels for the round headlights are a lot larger then the square ones. The grilles them selves look to be the same height. I guess you could modify the ends of the fenders, hood and filler panel between the grille and bumper so the piece could fit but it would be a lot of fiddly work.
  21. Dan, the square headlights were only on the '79 cars. All others had the round headlights.
  22. Cougar might work. I know the Revell '69 won't work, curvature is wrong. Tried it on my AMT '70. Ended up cutting down one from a Monogram 1/24 '70.
  23. He's looking for these ones.
