Thanks Mark. I do have the "Cinder Bug" fire truck version of that kit from '69 and even though the kit is missing some parts, including that axle, it does show it on the instruction sheet.

I'm using this axel on my '29 Woodie build. I've had it bumping around parts boxes for decades but no idea what kit it came from, not one I've actually built myself, I'm pretty sure. It's molded in black. Looks kinda like something MPC would have made but then again, it might be Revell ?? Anyone have any ideas what kit it could have come from?

Lindberg corrected it shortly after [or possibly during] the first run, long before Round 2 acquired them. I contacted Lindberg back then and they sent me a replacement hood.

I was under the impression that this is all newly cut tooling, not a reissue from their back catalog, is that right?

Promotional material from a decade ago that didn't happen. The deal fell through, I guess.

Yea, lindberg corrected it shortly after they released the kit. I had one of the early kits too and they sent me a corrected hood. Nice kit aside from the front being off a bit.

Can't go wrong with black & red. I see that's an early one with the incorrect hood.

Thanks Dennis. I can't recommended higher the separation of the cowl from the wood bodywork. Much easier then masking them both off.

Yup, Tamiya pearl yellow spray decanted and lightened with a little pearl white and some green added for more of a lemon yellow shade then it is in the can.

Just the good old method of the back of an X-acto blade. Only took a few minutes.

Some pics of the Woodie with the body panels installed. I sprayed several coats of brown and tan , alternating colors between coats and carefully wet sanded after it was completely dry to reveal the molded in grain detail. I also assembled the simple flathead engine. It does have a 2-peice distributor but it's not mentioned in the instructions at all. It'll get more detail work and plug wires before installation.

Cool. I actually have a 1/1 set of those chrome Stage-1 valve covers hanging up in my garage even though I don't have a Buick anymore. Just waiting for another boat tail Riv to come my way. ?

Ok, a little update. Got all the body parts to line up properly. Also found another dropped front axel and modded the rear spring assembly to drop it down to a reasonable ride height. Wheels are some old "D" spoke TTs from the AMT '55 Nomad that I've had kicking around for years. a couple already had the rims cut off so I cut the others off too and added rims cut from a set of smoothies from the AMT '29 Ford roadster. The rears were cut the full width of the rim and the fronts are cut a bit thinner for a nice "big 'n littles" look.

Love it.

Here's one I used in a pro street Nova back when these cars were new and that engine was very rare and exotic. ? 1991, can you tell? ?

Never thought about using the GM fuel injection setup on a rod . Might have to do that when I build my '32 Chevy panel. ?

That's pretty cool, Bill. Nice job copying the differences in the Hotwheels car over to the kit. The paint look great too. If it's OK, here's one I restored last summer, If I'm overstepping, please say so and I'll delete the pic. ?

This fall ??,, Where's the instant gratification in that?? ? Seriously though, It's great to have some of these "unobtainiam" kits back on the shelves again. This is making me want to buy more new kit then I have in years.

Thing to remember, even though the '70 was only available in the white and yellow, the '71 and '2 GSXs were available in several other colors, including gold.

If your talking about these tires, they're not wrong. The real tires were made like that too.

It's still ridiculous and you're still getting jipped. You wanna talk about no hobby shops in the area? My local one is the only one in the whole province. Yea, I know what it's like. Not like it was back when we were kids. I lived in Courtney in the '70s, right on the Puntledge River, Anderton Ave. to be exact. There's a small park now where the house was. I remember hitting all the shops that sold models on Saturday mornings with my cousins. It would take us all morning as there was at least a half dozen places to buy car models then and 5 bucks would get you a kit and 2 or 4 bottles of Testors or Pactra paint. But, that was then and this is now. Car model building is a dying hobby compared to back then. So, what are the other half dozen or so [at least] other builders from the Cowitchan Valley on this forum doing for kits?

Can't help on the red things but I do know where you can find that scoop. The '75 annual had one too. The MPC "Street Shark" custom Vette kit had one too but the sides were flat, not concave like the Duster annual kits and the one on the Mustang in the pic. Happy hunting.
