Pretty simple curbside but the bodies on those old AMT kits were just soo sharp! Paint is Duplicolor Metalcast yellow with some green added over metallic sandy gold. Wheels are the K/H "Strippers" from the AMT '66 Mercury Park Mane kit. Interior is Tamiya white acrylic with an overcoat of white pearl with beige flocking on the floor. First, a couple before pics,, ,,, and the finished resto with some mild custom touches..

They're in the AMT '66 Mercury Park Lane and '53 Corvette. They've also been in a couple other AMT kits in the late '60s and '70s.

Monty, on the website it says the tires are made to fit their "American muscle series" wheels. It says the outside diameter of those wheels is 16.5mm. That's about the same as a typical AMT or MPC wheel at the largest part of the lip of the rim. So they'd be a loose fit on those, might fall right through. Typical 1/24 Monogram wheel is 17mm. So they could fit those of you sand the inside a bit to fit in.

For a while there, this board got downright toxic. I even quit for a year after getting into a curfuffel with another member and a moderator. My avatar says I've been here only since 2014 but I was actually one of the first 100 to join when the site started, by invite no less.

OK, so, paint's polished out and the foiling is done. Interior just need some more detail work and I can button this thing up. Might be done later today. ?

John, your pic illustrates the biggest problem with the new engraving on the interior bucket, the concentric rectangles on the door panels should be centered on the panel, not shoved down to the bottom front corner. The original had it correct. Hopefully, the newly cloned kit will also correct this. Your seatbelts look good. It's gonna be a sharp looking car when it's done.
-
They're not supposed to be seat hinges, they're supposed to be seat belts. Still not anything I'd use in a model car. The interior bucket and seats were retooled when the kit was "restored" from a dirt track race car in the '80s but not very well. The original was much better. I'll wait for the new cloned kit to come out before buying another '65 GTO.

It's getting another set of the K/H Strippers. I really like these wheels for old Thunderbirds. Wish I had a few more good sets.

I have the boxed set on disk. ? But you did ask about the first one. [What car buff didn't love that show?] and I answered.

OK, I polished out the paint a couple days ago and plan to do the foiling and detail work around the windows this weekend so I'm bringing it back up so I can find it again easily. ?

PE for AMT '78 Ford Pick-up
Can-Con replied to Bainford's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This is the one he offers for the '73-'79 pickups and Broncos. Unfortunately, not 350 or camper special decals. He makes another sheet with decals for '73 up to '96 but it doesn't have them either. -
Shelby American wins Eleanor lawsuit

Yea, I got the same thing with my '82 S/E. -
Yup, definitely the reissue, the original issue had photos of the truck and the team on the box and it was molded in black. I wish I had picked up a few now.

I feel you pain, Dave. Some people see my T/A and say "Look, There's a Knight Rider car". even though it's not even black. Makes me want to do violent things. ? -
So, that tree came already plated in the Kit, Sean? I've never seen that before. I've only had the original issue though, not the reissue from about 15-20 years ago.
-
Alan, that's pretty well what they've been doing with the Chevy van reissues anyway. The cut outs for the sunroof and roof lights are still on the inside of the body, flashed over on the outside. IIRC, the unique A-Team parts like the bumpers/grille, body kit, wheels, etc. were on separate trees but it's been about 35 years or so, so?? MAYBE, if those were on separate trees, and they could find those, they could do an issue as a custom GMC van as others have suggested. Interesting coincidence though, I just sent off the bumpers and grille from one of those for chrome plating last week. ?

I don't have a problem with the car it self, but I don't get why everyone keeps calling it a "67 Shelby Mustang". It's not a Shelby, just a customized '67 Mustang, and not a particularly attractive one at that. -
It wouldn't be a "backdate", more of a "sidedate" as the round headlight grille was used on the lower level vans until the mid '80s.
-
They used round headlight on the base model vans until somewhere around '85, IIRC. But, no, they never had a year they used a grille with the wide bar through it with lights at either end like in that kit.
-
It would take more then just the grille, I'm afraid, Alan. You'd need to change the front fenders and hood and the tail lights too. BUT, yea, I'd like some '70s Dodge van action. ?
-
Cool looking wheel. I don't think I've seen one exactly like those before.
-
Frank, could you post a pic with your light source in front of the wheels instead of behind? Kinda hard to make out what they're supposed to look like.

What would YOU like to see as a model

Would the just reissued 1/24 Fujimi Enthusiast kit do?
