1/24 Revell '79 ('81?) Chevrolet Camaro Z/28
Can-Con replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
No, That's a completely different kit. -
Cadillac engine question.
Can-Con replied to Scott8950's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Scott, if you google "Cadillac for sale" with the year you're looking for you should be able to find loads of pics. I googles "63 Cadillac for sale" and found a few with good engine shots showing the distributor in the front. Same thing for '62 showed it in the back. -
That's actually just one opening Bill. The area for the license plate molded into the kit's bumpers just make it look like two. But, while you're at it you might as well Dremel out the Grand Prix bumper too. All full size '65 Pontiacs used the same front and rear bumpers.

I'll be getting one. Building it and making [minor] modifications as I see fit. Most of you seem to look at this kit and only see a toy, I see potential. -
My new 1:1 project. Its a 1969 Corolla.
Can-Con replied to Adam deCoste's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Looks like you got a good project there Adam. At least no one's trying to beat you down like they did me last time I posted pics of a car I was thinking about, which was in about the same condition as yours. I got fed up and had the mods delete the whole thread. ? -

What did you see on the road today?
Can-Con replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If it's restored to how it came from the factory, the silver paint and racing strip would make it a '65. Neither were available in '64. -
I've done that. All you really need to do is glue the doors on strait and remove all the jam area from the inside. Also cut the inner door jam area from the inner door panels and glue them to the interior bucket. Then you can just continue with the build as you would with any kit without opening doors.

This whole thing is starting to remind me of the music industry back in the "Pirate Bay" era 20 or so years ago. ? -
Yes, different hood and front fenders. Also note that the MPC kit has the round headlights, which makes that area of the grille surround completely different. Notice that the round headlight surrounds are flush with the hood and fenders and don't protrude to be level with the grille like the square headlight grille does.

Ya know, speaking of curbsides and OBS Chevys, I wouldn't mind seeing the Tahoe snap kit reissues. I never did get one of those.

There's two sets on the decal sheet of the latest reissue of the '65 Bonneville.

If I were ever to tackle a '65 2+2, I'd start with a '65 Grand Prix kit. Swap on the roof from the 2+2 [OR the '65 Buick Wildcat] . Then cut the emblems and "gills" from the 2+2 body and graft them into the GP body. I understand the Bonneville/2+2 front and rear bumpers ate not a good fit to the Grand Prix body but I'm sure they could be made to fit well with a little work. BTW, Model Car Garage has some photoetch sheets for GTOs that can supply "PONTIAC" lettering.

AMT 1970 Chevy Corvette LT-1 in Dark Plum.
Can-Con replied to Dragonhawk1066's topic in WIP: Model Cars
As is for now. I don't want to hijack Craig's thread, just wanted to show how mine went together strait from the box. It's the exact same kit, same issue he's building. -

Careful with those! Start riding around in one and the next thing you know, you're trapped in a strange village with a number for a name. ? -
AMT 1970 Chevy Corvette LT-1 in Dark Plum.
Can-Con replied to Dragonhawk1066's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I built this one strait from the box when it was first released about 30 years ago..[time does fly, doesn't it ?]. I remember ZERO issues with the kit, in fact, I remember how impressed I was that I didn't have to do anything to get a good stance with the wheels sitting exactly where they should. -

This guy's version of the Monster Mash is pretty cool. He has some other videos too where he's doing all the parts. Very entertaining. -
Revell ‘55 Chevy Questions

Looks like it just takes a little trimming but I dunno,, -
I can dig it !! ???

As with a lot of these older kits, the engine bat leaves a bit to be desired. I did use the firewall and radiator wall from the MPC donor kit and closed it in with some plastic sheet. Then I made a couple simple shock towers from sheet. ,, And glued them in using the brace from the Monogram kit as a guide for placement. Thinking about it earlier today, I should have used the brace from the 1/25 Revell '69 Mustang I'll be pirating the back bumper from. I haven't painted the assembly yet so I may change it before I'm done.

What would YOU like to see as a model
Can-Con replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Have you seen the 1/24 slotcar bodies of this car made in the '60s, Bill? They look pretty good. I think they're styrene but I don't know for sure. https://www.slotforum.com/threads/jeffries-manta-ray.57254/
