  1. The body? Tamiya gloss black spray ,, TS-14,IIRC.
  2. Same thing probably happened with the MPC '71 Impala convertible. The image in the brochure and the kit both have squared corners at the top of the windshield instead of the rounded corners like the real thing has.
  3. Modelhaus Tires casts the MPC Desert Dog tires.
  4. gary, Elm City Hobbies here in Fredericton sells Gofer Racing pre-wired distributors at $9cdn a peice but I have no idea what he'd charge for shipping all the way across to the other side of the country.
  5. The basic chassis is done and painted black. I did a little fabrication today. Made a simple recessed firewall to clear the engine. It's just roughed in right now, still need to clean up the edges before paint.
  6. OK, so, That USPS Pinto that's coming out, , If it's built exactly as shown on the box, does it go in the cars section or light commercial section? I's not a private civilian vehicle, it's a light commercial vehicle that was used by the US Postal Service. Shouldn't that go in light commercial?
  7. There's an unplaited set in the AMT Ford Phantom and surfer vans. Also a plated set in the "Firestones" Ford pickup but IIRC, there's no lug nuts on those ones. The '78 Bronco that was just released has a very similar set but with the Ford factory style centers on them.
  8. I love that one Steve. Those colors are incredible on that car. ???
  9. I'd say that's a '49, Gerald.
  10. After seeing RRR's new build post I thought I might post up this one I did about 17 or 18 years ago. Still one of my favorites. Most of the car is the Blackjack kit, which was based on the old "Switchers" 'T' cab/coach kit but I swapped out a new set of wheels, rear tires and that wild intake. I gotta build another one of these someday soon.
  11. Now that sounds like a lot of fun. I'll definitely be watching to see what kind of wild creation you pull out of that pile of parts. Makes me want to pull out my MPC "Switchers" T kit and have a go at it for a "simple" quickie build. In the meantime I hope it's OK if I put this pic here. I did it around 17 years ago and it's still one of my favorites. ?
  12. That was a great movie. Roseanna Arquette pulled off the most perfect "French Canadian" female act I've ever seen. The accent, mannerisms and everything was prefect. ?
  13. Looks familiar ,,, here's the one I did back around the time it was originally issued. I probably built it in '80 or '81.
  14. I recognize that pic. "Reliable Resin". One of , if not THE most notorious casters in the business. You're better off with what you got ,, at least you actually got it.
  15. Link's no good. You have to subscribe to see the page.
  16. Actually, I did refer to the '70 LT-1,, right there at the bottom in brackets. But, like David said, it could be almost anything. Unless it has casting numbers on the back of the block. Just thought of something though, unless it has an extra space for a freeze plug on each side of the block, it probably isn't a 400.
  17. Generic small block Chevy Like David said above, it could be any displacement SBCs came in or a "crate engine" so 302, 305, 327, 350, 383,400, but since the kit came out in the late '80s, it probably supposed to be a 350. Wouldn't be a "LT" engine as they were the fuel injected "generation II" SBC that came out until '92 in the Vette and looks a lot different then a carbureted engine. [unless the rare '70 LT-1 from '70]
  18. Yea, but that's an extreme example. Just because he's asking that for it doesn't mean anyone's gonna buy it for that. He's also asking 90 bucks for a reissue '72 Chevelle from a few years ago. Ridiculous price for a common as dirt kit.
  19. Pretty cool Izzy. Love all those ships but I've always thought these ones were particularly interesting. I'd been wondering how you were and what you'd been up to. Glad to see you safe and well.
  20. Except for one quite rare '70 or '71 T/A, all the MPC Firebirds were Formulas right from '70 or '71 up through '76. I have a 1/2 decent '74 re-builder, another '74 I'm converting to a T/A "canyon carver" and a pretty nice '76 promo. I don't think I paid more then the price of a new kit for any of them.
  21. Got brave and painted the black on the trunk panel last night. Not perfect but not too bad. Also, here's a couple pics of a mockup with the AMT Gatorbacks and widened Magnum 500s. It will sit a bit higher than this when finished.
  22. Only problem with that is the Lindberg '67 front end is wonkey. The hood area right above the grille is too curved. Should be a straighter slope with just a slight curve. also seems to be too high somehow. Kinda gives it more of an early '60s Lincoln look to me. I've made an attempt at improving the one I have but it's what's always kept me from building the kit. My favorite uncle had a gold '67 when I was young, had it for a long time and I have great memories of going to the lake with my cousins in that car so I was really excited when the kit was announced ,, disappointed when I opened the box. This pic pretty clearly shows the front of the hood. and here's one built by Randy Bodkin. Maybe it's just me but this just dosen't look "right" to me.
  23. Made some more progress over the last week or so. Paint's polished out and trim is foiled and detail painted. I also took a crack at painting the black strips on the hood. Not perfect but I think it came out OK. I also flocked the floor and started detail painting the interior.
