  1. I know that wasn't addressed to me, Harry, but I love Christmas stuff, and buy more decorations every year. HL has one of the largest single collections of Christmas stuff I've ever seen in one store, and it's the first store on my list for those items every year. To me, the fact that it's owned by folks of the Christian faith, is a big plus, certainly not a minus.
  2. I just discovered that the tomato plants I've been nurturing for weeks and weeks, have been heavily raided by squirrels. Very few tomatoes remain, and what does, will probably be gone in the next day or two.
  3. Thanks again, fellas. I really hope to gt a lot more done on it today.
  4. That sounds excellent, and should make a dramatic difference from that dull brown.
  5. The '66 is a pretty nice car, I'll be interested to see where this goes.
  6. Me too, and 80's music. I find that hobby stuff and this sort of music compliment each other very well, at least for me.
  7. Thanks very much. I have to admit, I was sort of shocked that it came out as nice as it did. I still have to add the red wash to the R/T portion of the emblem, but I don't anticipate any real problems there (fingers crossed). Me too. This one may just end up looking the way I want. I probably shouldn't set the bar as high as I do for myself, but I have a certain minimum standard that I've established for my stuff, and strive desperately to attain that. I know I won't even begin to approach the very high quality I sometimes see here, but if I can at least meet my own needs for appearance, that'll be good enough, at least for now.
  8. This should be interesting.
  9. I have to agree, the weathering on the bottom does look good.
  10. Stripping paint is not my favorite thing, but it looks like you're having a fairly job of it.
  11. Nice. I have a '71 'Cuda I'm considering as a purple car, probably the same color.
  12. Thanks very much, Harry. Once I can get the two remaining vertical bars done, I think it'll look pretty cool. (You know, in retrospect, those areas are the edges of where the headlight covers are, so perhaps that was done on purpose?)
  13. Thanks, Dan, so far, so good. I wish I'd added the marker light and stripe decals before clear coating though, now that'll have to be one of the very last things I do.
  14. The model really has a nice shape to it. I'm sure it'll look very cool.
  15. I think it's certainly an improvement, Joe, no matter how subtle.
  16. Using an old T-shirt dampened with saliva, I manage to buff off most (but not quite all), of the acrylic black. This was followed with some very delicate dry brushing with chrome silver. The way the part was molded, there are two ribs that are lower than the others, so I'll still have to figure out how to deal with those, perhaps scraping with a toothpick. In the meanwhile, I think it looks pretty cool, better than I had anticipated anyway.
  17. Sounds good to me.
  18. Thanks for the input, fellas. The chamois is a pretty cool idea, I may just have to give that a whirl. I actually bought some cheesecloth too to use for polishing, but haven't tried it yet. I'm also considering searching for a clear coat that dries a little harder.
  19. Any ideas on a paint scheme yet?
  20. I'll be looking forward to more on this.
  21. Those are some cool looking references.
  22. Yep, those AMT tire packs are killer, especially given those god awful looking tires that come with a lot of these kits, that look like they actually belong on some sort of farm machinery.
  23. Oh yes, a grease flash fire is something I've certainly experienced before, and is exactly why mine needs to be cleaned and soon.
