  1. Thanks a lot. Dash now painted, not painted all that well, but I'm just going to live with it.
  2. Nice project, ought to look really nice.
  3. Glad to, and glad I found it. They have a gorgeous '53 Ford pickup that I might like to eventually do a model of.
  4. The more I look at the '71's, the more I'm beginning to really like them. I can see a blue one in my future.
  5. Looks very, very cool. (By the way, I think it's actually Polara, not Polaris.) I really wish someone did a stock '64, as that was my first car, and I'd love to do a model of it.
  6. I loves me some '70 Challenger. Looks great.
  7. Nice, very nice.
  8. Couldn't agree more.
  9. Pretty cool. I've determined that my next car will also be the '71 GTX. I'm not 100% sure at this point, but I suspect I'll do it with chrome on front and rear.
  10. Thanks very much, fellas, I really appreciate the encouragement. I need all the help I can get. Doing cars is not at all like doing aircraft, which I've been building for decades.
  11. Then my mind must be extraordinary healthy.
  12. While eyeballing some GTX photos, I noticed a couple of things; vertical bars in grille are not chrome, so I've muted these with tire black. Also headlight surrounds appear to be chromed metal, but the insides (around the headlights themselves) are aluminum looking, so I brushed aluminum around them and added a very thin wash of Tamiya smoke to lenses. In this photo, only the passenger side is finished this way. I think it's an improvement, regardless, and I'm pleased with the results so far.
  13. OK, now added to calendar here, and show listings here.
  14. Saturday, September 10th, Gateway IPMS swap meet and model contest. Holiday Inn, Route 66, 10709 Watson Road, St Louis, Mo. 63127 This is usually a real good show, with good vendors and a fairly substantial contest, with many categories. It's always a lot of fun, so if you're in the St Louis area on the 10th, stop by and check us out. Link to Calendar event

Saturday, September 10th, Gateway IPMS swap meet and model contest. Holiday Inn, Route 66, 10709 Watson Road, St Louis, Mo. 63127 PDF flyer has not yet been updated to reflect actual contest date, but it will take place on the 10th. (While not exclusively a model car contest, there are multiple car/vehicle categories.) This is usually a real good show, with good vendors and a fairly substantial contest, with many categories. It's always a lot of fun, so if you're in the St Louis area on the 10th, stop by and check us out. Link to Gateway IPMS site announcement
  16. Cool, thanks. I looked on the site, but saw no date; perhaps I didn't look close enough. I'll be there for sure, as I always am. If you haven't already done so, I'll put it on the calendar here, like I did last year.
  17. I wonder how many kids bought that, not knowing the difference. A few years ago, a friend informed me that he'd bought a '70 Dodge Challenger. Not too many days after that, we pulled into his driveway and I immediately asked "I thought you told me it was a '70"? He said it is a '70, and I informed him that unfortunately it was not. A brief discussion ensued, and we finally determined it was a '71, but with the front end from a '70 bolted on. A quick look at the title confirmed it was indeed a '71.
  18. Not really, you'll have the photos to remember the guts. Are you going to depict it dug in, as intended?
  19. No problem. One source to go to for a quick check of what something looks like, seems like a good thing to me. And there are some drop dead gorgeous cars there.
  20. Interesting, as there's no way to confuse a '70 with a '71. I found one of the '71 kits on Model Roundup, and added it to my rather large list of potential kits to get, down the road, so thanks for the info.
  21. Oh I'll be there, or at least that's the plan right now. With any luck at all, a '69 GTX I'm working on will be entered, just for kicks. (I'm much more of a military aviation and armor modeler, but I'll give it a whirl anyway.)
  22. While surfing for images of a '53 Ford pickup, I stumbled upon this site, and thought some of you might find it useful. Searchable by year, make, model, etc., it looks like it may certainly have some value to me when I'm trying to do research on a particular vehicle. It's my desire to eventually do a '53 something, as an homage to my birth year, and I think I've settled on the AMT pickup. I may also do one as a Halloween car I've been considering.
  23. Here's the same technique used for the same effect (though much better than what I did to this interior) on a 1:32 Fokker Dr.I floorboard I did a few years back (floorboard wasn't nearly finished at the time of this photo).
