  1. Thanks, Gene. Well, some oils have been spread on to (hopefully) simulate the dark wood grain on the interior. Should look lots better when all the black is painted.
  2. Looks great to me.
  3. I've never tried to recycle an old kit, so this will be interesting to me.
  4. Lookin' good, real good. I hope mine turns out as nice. Model Roundup sells a lot of gasser decals, so I'll be grabbing a few sheets for projects like these.
  5. I too had the Dream Rod, and I got the turntable to work, but it never did seem to work right.
  6. The more I dig into this kit, the more I like it; two complete engines, and some real nice looking hood hinges, as opposed to the normal lumps I've seen. The engines are a bit odd though, separate heads (typical), but with plain blobs to represent the rocker arms. Both blocks have cylinder openings, but no pistons as such, just recesses. I can't begin to imagine why they molded them that way. Anyway, with this being curbside (like most of my efforts), I'll just throw the engines and associated parts into the spares box.
  7. The acrylic base coat for the wood has at least now been sprayed on. I'm shooting for a sort of walnut/mahogany color to the wood, as that's what I seem to see in photos.
  8. I feel that the end of the wet sanding/polishing is drawing near, so I’ll now be moving on to the interior. I was able to gather some stock interior color information from the web, so I’ll be going black and wood grain, with some chrome trim. Should look OK, I think.
  9. Thanks, Joe. This one (like all of my others so far), is giving me some trouble, but I'm fighting back.
  10. Nice start. Hard to go wrong with a '70 Challenger, at least as far as I'm concerned.
  11. This looks just great. Keep up the nice work.
  12. The paint is very eye catching, I really like it.
  13. I've been polishing through edge paint since I resumed this crazy hobby. I figure to just gently re-spray those areas, then polish again.
  14. I wouldn't give up entirely, and it sound like you're not. Bad times have a way of fading back to god times; there's always hope for a better tomorrow.
  15. Yep, my version of the kit (red on cover), has an incorrect hood, saying 440, when there's a Hemi script molded onto trunk. This hood is reputed to be from a '68 Road Runner kit.
  16. I've yet to incorporate the stereo and computer/monitor into my newly designed (but not yet built) hobby benches, but I certainly shall.
  17. That looks excellent.
  18. I can't seem to get beyond the first page of photos, but mostly I don't see much that appeals to me.
  19. Yep, gorgeous color. I'll probably also be ordering Mystic Emerald, Icy Blue, Mythical Maroon, and some clear, all as three-packs, as that's about the cheapest per-can price that I can find. Works out to about $5.47 per.
  20. Today I received the first of several three-packs of Testors paints I'll be getting, this first being Star Spangled Blue.
  21. Wow, three months. Thank goodness there doesn't seem to be anything from them that I can't easily live without. Thanks for the answers, fellas, I appreciate it.
  22. I'm certainly confused, very confused. Why would anyone "expect" a three month wait for an order to be processed and shipped?
