  1. Awesome stuff Martin! I love the pass-through interior into the trunk... great work all over on this one!
  2. Thank you guys!!! Its truly flattering to hear all these compliments from fellow builders! Tom, I didnt know who that was.... Until last night when i was looking at my photos from the Toledo NNL and ran across these: That car was beautiful! and so cleanly done! I loved everything about it.
  3. Thanks guys!!! Interior assembled and seat belts added... still need to do the dash... sadly I'm not going to get this together for Sundays show in Detroit... but oh well.. ill keep plugging along... no need to rush.
  4. Ted I've had pretty good luck vacuum forming with the "clear lay film" that hobby lobby sells... not sure what it is really... probably PETG as Brett suggested. Also for what its worth....I've had pretty bad luck trying to vacuum form the evergreen translucent color sheets... see photo:
  5. And im subscribing.... cant wait to see this one take shape. the 1:1 is amazing, and i'm sure you have plenty of reference material on this one. Should be yet another amazing build.
  6. I think you were just itching to make a showrod, I blame the company you keep.... haha.. this little guy is fun! Makes me want to try one myself.
  7. Yes... a true butt load... wayyyyy more than actual kits. and what kinda seat belts are you looking for? Just photo-etched buckles and stuff? Model Car Garage has some nice sets.. of OEM styles. If you are looking for racing harness , detail master and pro tech have some nice pieces. another option is to look at entire detail sets for kits you don't even have (crazy modeler, tamiya, hobby design) sometimes you can get the entire set of photo-etch with seatbelt hardware for the same price as just the seatbelts... and you will have a lot of other random bits for future projects. I purchased a crazy modeler photo-etched set for a tamiya ferrari FXX for 15.00 of ebay and have used it on my last 3 builds, and there are still a bunch of little parts left. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CARZY-MODELER-1-24-FERRARI-FXX-ETCHING-UP-GRADE-PARTS-FOR-TAMIYA-KIT-/272565713271?hash=item3f762eb977:g:wLUAAOSwQNRXLDx6 These are the belts on my cuda seats... (belts themselves are made from .005 styrene scuffed in one direction with 120grit and primed with black primer)
  8. geeeezzzz guys... Thank you all for the wonderful comments, its quite flattering, and overwhelming. Thank you all so much! Here are a couple more shots from the North Coast Auto Modelers meeting... I talked Tom Kren into letting me get some shots with his super clean box-stock"ish" build. Its cool to compare and contrast... it also makes me realize how little of the actual kit I used.... haha
  9. Christopher, if the Detroit show is going to be your first show, you are going to love it. Its probably my favorite of the year...HUGE vendor area, and its about 90% automotive related stuff. With the exception of NNL East in new jersey its the largest show I've been to, in terms of vendors and models on the tables. The DAAM club guys are great to talk with and they really do a heck of a job, the venue is also wonderful... very clean and well illuminated. As far as the registration process Richard is right on....its pretty simple... pay your $5.00 at the door to get in, then walk in and make a right to get to the contest area... they will ask you how many models you have.. (you can enter as many as you want) They will give you a slip of paper to fill out and put under your model... since this is a "judged" contest there is usually and area of that card with the builders name that gets folded over to keep it "anonymous". Set your stuff out, and go spend money... usually the club ropes off the model area around noon for judging... we usually grab some food around then. Its a great time! Hope, to see you there!
  10. I snooped around on the clubs link page.. and found this: http://public.fotki.com/Donald-Splitstone/model-shows/2017/7th-annual-buckeye-/ Some great shots in there!
  11. Thanks Glenn! This one is a lot of fun! Got some flocking/embossing powder down last night on last night! but that's about all the progress I made.
  12. Thank you all! Thank you!!! I did manage to bring home the Ohio challenge win... Probably 10-12 great looking Model A's in the challenge... This project was something I had wanted to do for awhile, the contest deadline just gave me the motivation to get on it, and finish it. Next years challenge is the Moebius Comet Cylcone... So if anyone wants to participate, just get started building.. i'm a bit clueless on this one...
  13. Back onto this bad boy!!! The thickness of the foil and paint made the fist shot of clear a bit lumpy, so I sanded it down and hit it with another coat.... looks really good now, i don't think I am even going to buff it. Managed to get the interior bucket painted white last night, the the blue base color down on the carpeted area... While that was drying I made a drag link from RB motion rod ends and tubes. Hopefully I can get the interior flocked tonight... Maybe start on chroming some of these supension parts.
  14. I finally got around to taking some good photos for an under glass post... Sadly I kinda already "gave away the farm" over on the project log... but oh well, I was excited. This was built for the Buckeye Classic- Ohio Challenge... which for 2017 was the Revell 1929 Roadster built anyway you want it... All/most of the details are over here in the project log: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/119211-1929-model-a-roadster-artdecocoachbuiltstreamliner-done/ Thanks for everyone's support and encouragement on this project!!!! This board is an amazing place!!
  15. Thank you all for the kind words!!! This model has been an absolute blast to make... and the recognition its received is overwhelming. The model did bring home the Ohio Challenge trophy in Columbus at the Buckeye Classic. Next years Ohio Challenge build is the Moebius Comet Cyclone.. and should be a fun one. (although I am clueless as to how i'm gonna build one... its not the prettiest car... ) If you haven't been to this show it is a really fun one... here are some photos from the show. (not mine... but the clubs) http://public.fotki.com/Donald-Splitstone/model-shows/2017/7th-annual-buckeye-/ Also as a side note..... if you guys know any cigar smokers.... see if they can get you some boxes.. I am lucky enough to have one of my bosses who smokes cigars regularly and hes been able to snag me some great transport boxes.... this just looked to cool to not show. I added a layer of foam with tire cutouts that supports the entire chassis, taking the weight off the fragile front axle.
  16. until

Yes its a great show! Look forward to seeing everyone there!
  17. This is tomorrow! Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
  18. Hey Bob .... thank you for the tip on the Alclad clear! It does kill the brilliance a little bit... but nothing like a normal clear does. If the pens are like 85% chrome, the clear knocks it down to 80%ish. Here is the grille i did for my model A... I painted it a dark color and then highlighted the ribs with the 2mm chrome pen... then cleared with the alclad aqua gloss.. It held up to substantial handling during the install, and nothing rubbed off. The Molotow Pen gave me a perfect solution for something I was struggling with how to do. ..Highly recommended!!
  19. totally digging it.... I love the interior.
  20. Thank you all for the positive comments... i really enjoyed this build and im glad you guys all did as well.. Sure.. it was late last night when i wrapped up and my photos weren't all that great... but here a couple.. I'm definitely going to take much better ones later.
  21. thanks guys! Glad everyone is digging it... I'm excited to see the reaction in Columbus and Detroit the following weekend. I wasnt planing on going to jeresy this year... however, as it gets closer im starting to get the itch to go... im going to talk to Andy and my Dad about it this weekend, there is a chance I will make a last minute trip over. If that doesn't happen I will be at the Pittsburgh show... I love that show. Thank you Jim! Glad you like the headlights, I think i have sold about 8 sets so far... its nice to be able to share those with the world. FYI..For the lenses on these. I just hand cut some .015 clear lay film from hobby lobby... I made 2 lenses for each light, the first one I used BMF on the back side, and the second i scribed vertical lines into.. I put the first one bmf side down, then i added a few drops of future and dropped the scribed lens in.... it worked pretty nice really.
  22. oh man... those calipers.... I'm drooling over here... and I cant wait to see those mated with that quick change! This entire thing amazes me....the dish glove texture is just genius... thanks for sharing that one.
  23. Thank you guys!!!! Its done! Which is incredibly rewarding and also sort of a bummer because I really enjoyed working on this one... But I'll move on to the next one, and try to top this.. Here are some teaser photos... Ill post some better ones "under glass" after the show this weekend.
  24. Love it! That interior overspray thing even looks better in the big pictures...awesome quick work pal..... and it probably will have more than enough time to out gas before the trip to Columbus... I don't want you stankin up my spark. haha
  25. Thank you...That would be awesome!!! both of those scenarios.. I actually was looking at the new steel model A roadster bodies the other day... making a real one would be feasible. Thanks pal!! No one really expects a 6 piece shift lever.. haha.. I managed to get the radiator in last night, as well as a bunch of photo-etched bolt heads that help add some extra detail to the engine. I have been playing with cutting clear material to make a clear steering wheel like the delahayes used.... Ive played around for over a week with layering different pieces with future, and Ive decided to just use one layer because it looks much cleaner. Finally I turned the horn button and adapter on the lathe... hopefully I can get this all installed tonight.
