  1. OK - I decided to assign names to each of the wheels in this photo, and the one I selected is identified by the red arrow (Keystone Treker)... is this the one you were referring to?
  2. Is that the one in the upper right corner?
  3. I have these wheels - they came in an AMT 67 Chevelle SS396 kit - would like to know the name given to this type of wheel... The photo shows the wheels without flash on the top and with flash on the bottom (I added the black wash).
  4. To me, they look a lot like the newly tooled Halibrands in the Drag/Gasser set released by AMT...
  5. Sidney, and you told me you were a rookie! Looks a lot better than my first attempt! BTW, panel lines can be overdone. I've tried scribing, which is very dangerous, because you can really scar your model if you jump out of the groove. Gave that up because it was almost impossible to do it without getting somewhat impatient, and that's when the accidents happened. Tried an ultrafine black Sharpie, and wound up overdoing it to the point where the panel lines just were too noticeable. So, good luck on whatever you do... and I know you're going to have to do it for yourself.
  6. Actually, this is really the only way to improve shine - polishing removes most imperfections from the finish, and that in itself will improve the reflectivity. I would suggest your second option - spray the clear over the red - one or more coats. Every coat you give will protect the finish from burning through to the color coat. If you sand between coats... you're polishing without knowing it. Every step in polishing takes you from the larger grits, on down to about 12000. By then, you won't need any additional clearcoats (in fact, I doubt you'd see a difference). My preferred clear is Testors One-Coat. You get more for your money. Some folks swear by Tamiya TS13, but there's less than 2oz in a can, and a can is already more expensive than the equivalent by Testors. That's my criteria.
  7. I ordered 3 from Fatkidd - he has "boots" already installed on every wire! This will save me a ton of time. Also, he has 6-cylinder now.
  8. Are you sure this is an... "air cleaner"? It looks like an upside-down basket with really big holes in it, plopped on top of the carb! Would seem to me the only thing it would keep out of the carb is really big particulate...
  9. I think the issue of chrome is very valid - even though Alclad claims their product is "chrome", I have never been very successful in obtaining that kind of result. I would need to buy a resin transkit, or a complete kit including everything needed. I would probably be better off elsewhere. Thanks for the info!
  10. Are you saying you can buy Hendrix' kits at Stevel Kohler's place? I tried it and could find no listing for Hendrix... unless it goes under another name?
  11. If you buy MAD distributors, the only thing you'll need to paint is the post. I have been using Testors acrylic black, and it seems to be working without problems.
  12. I've used Preston's but prefer the ones by Parks, because they include a metal ignition coil (although most decent kits include a plastic coil). The ones by MAD are good, but they are resin and you need to assemble the cap and post with superglue... not a big deal, but different. I like that you can get a 6 cylinder version for those projects that have a six engine (like the soon-to-be-released 47 Chevys by Galaxie Ltd).
  13. Thanks very much, Jon - especially since you can compare to the actual car! Appreciate your comments!
  14. Thanks Richard... and I know you REALLY meant it, right?!
  15. On behalf of Mike and Richard... here is the final result... Notice that the front end is a little lower, too... gives it a nice forward rake...
  16. Would you say that the front wheels need to be moved forward slightly?
  17. Which of Modelhaus' tires would you recommend for redlines? Also, do they have wide ovals, which I would love for my muscle cars, also with the inserts? Their catalog is kind of funky; so, please point me in the right direction! Thanks!
  18. I have considered Modelhaus, but can't even get to see the kits, let alone what they turn out like. If I decide on Modelhaus, I'll have to give it some serious thought as to what car I'd like. Then, I'll ask here to see if there is anyone who has built it. Yeah, I did that and no one has apparently ever built the Crestliner by Modelhaus...
  19. This line of resin kits is available at Model Roundup - have almost no experience with resin. Would like to know more about how clean the parts are - is there a lot of flash removal required, and if so, is it easy to follow the flash to make sure it's cut out cleanly? And anything else you can think of!
  20. Well, this topic the moderator decided to dump my question into doesn't really have much to do with the old release. Thanks for the help, and I have enough info to make a decision now!
  21. You may not go for this, but how about using a file to just lightly hit the tops of the painted lines, which would reveal either the plastic or a primer?
  22. You're a pro, right? Man, I wish my Arii Cadillac had turned out 1/10th as good as yours!
  23. Ditto to all the previous positivers! Smelly, is this really a Johan kit?
  24. I second the motion for Moebius to pick up the slack - instead we get decidedly un"muscle"d cars (61 Ventura)...
