Amt 60 Ford Pickup

Nice color! I recently bought one of these and am looking for an excuse to move it to the top of the list. Dave -
I got this at Hobby Lobby with a 40% discount. You get a lot of bang for your buck as there is a trailer included.

The Pig Rig
Nosferatu replied to Nosferatu's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I started working on the inside kitchen of the pig. It’s a bit difficult working in such a small space where I can only use two fingers. -

Thanks! Dave -
I’ve had the plastic piggy bank for a while looking to use it in a build. I wanted to incorporate it with a BBQ smoker build. I cut the pig in half in order to extend it. Then I cut in a rear door but that got in the way of the smoker I planned to put on the back. I then cut the roof off in order to install the kitchen inside and sealed up the rear door. I scratched built the smoker for the rear and made a platform for it. I worked on the scratchbuilt chassis for about 4 ½ hours. I needed some wide rear fenders and the only thing that had the correct circumference was a plastic aspirin bottle. I put the radiator behind the engine as there was no room for it in the front of the cab. The Dodge 700 cabover seemed like a good choice so I rebuild the door hinges. The pig body needed lots of putty (7 layers) as the plastic was all different thicknesses. I cut in the serving window and the drivers side entry door. I still have to design and build the interior. I will be using a chessboard pattern for the kitchen floor. The power train is of course a Dodge hemi. I’m not sure of a final color yet but that will materialize when I get closer. The BBQ truck will be called Pig Out. Thanks for looking and I hope you like it. Dave

I wanted to make a low pickup truck with scissor doors. After searching thru all my parts I came up with this. A Ferrari Modena and the Dodge Deora. This seemed to be the only pick up bed that would combine with the Ferrari front…and that wasn’t easy. I also decided to make a mid-engine vehicle so I kept the Ferrari engine. I made the headlights and bezels and used some parts from the stash for the interior keeping the Ferrari dashboard. I used a piece of the Ferrari for the body section that went over the engine and added the clear cover. I also added the home made spoiler. The scissor doors were another challenge. I was able to mold in a piece of tubing to the end of the dash on each side and drill a hole thru the tube into the side of the dash for the swivel pin. I had to re-scribe the door latch sides as the doors were too long. I used pieces of other door panels and some flat stock to complete the doors. I also shortened the windshield height and added the top frame. Lots of hours on the bodywork! For the paint I used a combination of three different nail polish colors. Painting the body metallic silver first then laying down the tape for the stripe, then air brushing the blue over it all. I have added a few WIP pics. Thanks for looking and I hope you like it. Dave

Thanks! I saw a pic of a '32 that was red with a black radiator grill and thought I would make these reflect that. The colors are the same top color but the process is a bit different. I prime them in flat black, then depending on how red you want the finish, I spray them with a light coat of silver metallic. Not real heavy as the red top coat will not show as much. Then I spray several coats of Dupli-color Metalcast Red Anodized followed by a gloss finish. The red is a bit transparent so the lighter the previous coat of silver over the black is the darker the red comes out. The red doesn't show directly over the black and solid silver either. As far as the bent windscreens go I went thru my windscreen parts and found ones with the correct curvature then ground away everything I didn't want. Then I polished them (one had a small crack).
