  1. Very nice work and great imagination!
  2. I'm glad you took the post the way I had hoped.
  3. Not trying to be contrary....if that particular Revell kit had a 348, the kit is incorrect; in '62 the 348 was replaced by the newly introduced 327...the 348 and 327 had totally different valve covers, an obvious giveaway, so keep that in mind. Also, the '61 Impala was the only year where the term "Supersport" was a performance option (with a 409); for the next few years, Supersport was a trim option, meaning one could actually purchase a Supersport Impala with a 6-cylinder engine, so don't rely on that term when looking at potential model/donor engine kits.
  4. Small diameter solder can be wrapped around the shank of the drill bit you used to drill out the dashboard. Allow the ends of the solder to overlap, then cut through the intersection. Mate the ends, put a dab of chrome paint on, glue in place, and you're done.
  5. As a suggestion...set the completed model on the windshield of a 1:1 vehicle and take pictures from the inside of the 1:1 (as well as the outside). You can use this technique to simulate a model that is flying. Don't leave the model on the windshield too long, though.
  6. That's a very nice looking model of a truly ugly car.
  7. You also need to purchase (if you don't have one already) a heat gun.
  8. I must be missing something...that site and this site are one in the same...modelcarsmag.com
  9. Maybe not as difficult as you think. The only problem is finding a Radio Shack (or something similar) that is still open for business http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/101743-poor-mans-vacu-form/
  10. You did an excellent job on everything...engine, interior, those tiny bits of chrome trim At the risk of being a naysayer, the paint job, while superb, is too "flaky" for my taste, as in too much metal flake for that scale.
  11. I can't believe this atrocity received 5 pages of comments.
  12. You might want to make the "to clear or not to clear" decision before you apply any wax.
  13. I did an edit on my post, to include the word acrylic. "You can also get Krylon acrylic in a flat clear."
  14. You can also get Krylon acrylic in a flat clear. That would minimize concerns over compatibility with the color coat.
  15. Since Scale Finishes offers both a primer and a clear coat, I think I can guess what their response would be.
  16. Awesome work (as usual) and a stunning collection. When are you going to build a '40 convertible?
  17. The make/model of the airbrush might also be helpful. How old is the airbrush? Do you still have the instructions?
  18. Your dashboard detail knocked my socks off! You must have very steady hands and drink only de-caf coffee...at 75 years old, I could never do that.
  19. Hairspray might be easier to apply, and infinitely easier to remove.
  20. Just send 'em to me. I live in Florida, The Sunshine State. Who knows, you might even get them back! Actually, there's another similar approach. Place the decals in a picture frame (8 1/2" x 11") and set the frame in the sun; you can move the frame to follow the sun, not be concerned about which direction the window faces, and minimize moisture accumulation. Make sure your frame has clear (not matte/non-glare) glass, and not plastic. Place the frame (without the decals) in the sun for about an hour; this will dry out the glass and the backer board. Install the decals, and return the frame to the sunny area. You can even put shims on the bottom of the frame, tilting it so it directly faces the sun, not at an angle.
  21. In the Nixon era, the words [Expletive Deleted] were in quite few documents released during his downfall; apparently Nixon was rather profane. Is "Expletive Deleted" acceptable in a post, or should it be avoided as well?
  22. Welcome back! There's a show near you that has some awesome models and bunches of vendors. You have plenty of time to plan (and build) for it https://www.ipmsorlando.com/modelpalooza.html
  23. I think the pictures being requested are for the final results
