Kenworth T800 Quad Axle Dump
DRIPTROIT 71 replied to DRIPTROIT 71's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks Larry!! Thanks Dan!! You know that I like working trucks! Thanks! The asphalt stains looked better under my desk light inside, but outside, the sunlight seemed to hide most of my chalk work. Thanks!! Thanks JT!! I have you to thank! You inspired the color and the wheels! -

I really like this thread! Of course I like cabovers! I’m really glad that this was brought back. I’ve posted some on here before, but most of them got swallowed up by the Flicker down size. Here is a few of mine. -

BRBO 2021 Ford T8000 Dump

That is interesting. Thank you for posting those pictures. Everything was wrapped when I got it and I didn’t look at the cab very closely. I remember thinking that the top looked different than I thought that it would, but I was in the middle of something and put it away until now. Your pictures make a good reference though. -

Looking at photos of the real thing, I think that, that part is actually right. Measuring it, it is parallel to the rear door slope. -

Very true. I’m sure that it will come out okay. Just frustrated a little because it is not the same as the stock photo. -

Getting started on this one and already pretty disappointed. I hadn’t really looked closely at this one until now. Compare the stock photo of my original post with what I actually got. As you can see the top of the cab was done poorly. In the stock photo it has nice round lines, but this looks like a block was glued on top. Here is what I got: Notice the top of the cab: This is how it should look and how the stock photo looks: On to sanding, but first I will get the running gear in order. -
Very realistic!! A lot of detail work on this! Excellent work!

Looks great JT!! Are those orange tile I see in that shop??

Your builds are always amazing! There is so much to see in each one! They are so realistic too! This one is another work of art!

I never really liked the bed in these kits, but you have found a way to fix that. I like your modifications to this bed!! I like the sleeper idea too. I have an old truck magazine with a long hood Louisville with a Mercury style sleeper on it that I thought looked cool. Looking forward to seeing more of this one!

I would leave it alone too. The trailer looks great! I was actually wondering if you were going to have room for a tandem axle truck with this trailer, but it looks like it is going to work just fine. Looking forward to seeing more! -
This one is built on an extended Revell W900 Wrecker Chassis. It has a Gary Wallace T800 Cab and hood conversion, Gary Wallace front suspension and cab mount kit, Gary Wallace Dump Bed kit, M11 Cummins from Gary, and one of the lift axles is from Gary. The other lift axle is from Jamie at Moluminum. The battery box is from Casey at model truck builders.com. The wheels and tires are from Moebius, except for the low profile tires on the lift axles which are solid resin from an unknown source. The rubber block rear suspension is from Clint Freeman. Paint is Scalecoat 1 “reefer orange.” It is not perfect, but pretty happy with it. It is meant to reflect a recently restored owner operator rig that mostly hauls asphalt.
