  1. Wow! You’ll have this one done in no time. Looking forward to seeing more!
  2. Great project Ken! Looking forward to seeing more!
  3. I never have two projects going at the same time, so I will be starting this one after I finish the T800 Dump. I will be using the cab conversion from Dan’s Models. This is the stock photo because I didn’t want to dig mine out of the closet just yet. The 800 series were gas the 8000 series were diesel. There was also the 950D and the 1000D that were diesel too, but I’m going to call this one a T8000 unless someone corrects me. The F series were single axle and the T series were tandem. This one will be a T8000. The 1100 Cat and the 6v-53 Detroit were both available in the later versions of this body style. My goal is to make a 6v-53, but I may just wind up using the Louisville 1100 Cat. Time will tell. The dump bed will be from the Louisville kit. Chassis will either be from the Louisville or the Diamond Reo kit.
  4. Thanks for the kind words guys!! Leafsprings, those Peterbilts are awesome. I would like to find one of this cabovers myself. Lee those sure are some beautiful builds!!
  5. Looks great. It has been a while since I’ve built one of these but I believe that the hood problem with this is probably the same problem that I had recently with the 359 1100 cab. The AMT design mounts thee a cab a little too far back. You did a great job on this one! It looks great! I like the album cover re-creation.
  6. I’ve ordered from him on Ebay with no problem. I will be using the F800 cab for my T8000 dump that I am building for the BRBO.
  7. I’ve been wanting to build one of these for years! I will be watching your build closely and taking notes. Looks great so far!
  8. I was able to finish a few despite 2020.
  9. Jeff, I’m sorry but I meant F8000 dump not F800.
  10. Wow!! You really outdid yourself on that steering. Looks great!
  11. Jeff, put me down for a Ford F800 Dump. Is there a deadline for starting a thread?
  12. I always make sure that I have the front sleeper wall secured well to the bucket and then secure it to the ceiling. This keeps the bucket from settling back down later.
  13. As one of your very satisfied customers let me say that you never need to apologize for putting your family first. Time with your family can’t be replaced.
  14. This is just an Awesome build!! I like both tops on it. I followed your build thread and excellent fabrication! Top notch work all around!
  15. I agree! Even when I was a kid model building was about subject matter for me. That is why now a large part of my builds use aftermarket resin parts, cabs, hoods, etc., because many of the subjects I am interested in building are not available as a plastic kit. I recognize that some folks just want to build a kit from the box and they can make a beautiful model that way. There is nothing wrong with that. As for myself, engineering something to reflect a real subject is what I enjoy. Again as this thread began about the KW kit I myself am speaking of bid rigs, so I have been thankful to see Round 2 re-release these old AMT kits.
  16. I felt the same way back in the 80s, especially the 359 1100 cab kit. The Ertl semi kits seemed far superior to the AMT back then to me. Then I built my first M.T.F.A. resin conversion. Suddenly the AMT kits didn’t seem so bad. Then later I joined Hank’s Truck Forum and this forum after that. I was inspired by several of the great model builders I saw. If you’re not familiar with the subject you’re building, rig building requires some research and engineering on the builders part. If you’re wanting a kit to just assemble, check out the Revell USA KW W900 or 359 Peterbilt. These were originally snap kits but build up fairly easy and present pretty well. The old Ertl IH kits were good, but be prepared to pay a big price for them. The Ertl 4300 IH is available under the AMT name now. Due to wear in the molds it isn’t quite as clean as it once was and there is a little issue with the front axle needing to be moved forward. The Revell of Germany kits were pretty decent in regards to fit but a little more expensive. Italeri kits are expensive but fit well, but some folks don’t like the multi piece cabs. Then there is Moebius. I have never owned one of these, but the are probably the newest tool of an American truck available. In semi truck building, other than the former snap kits, AMT kits are the cheaper priced kits. They can be made into some nice builds.
  17. The truth is that we all like different stuff. While I would be less likely to buy a modern aero whatever, I would be more likely to buy something more vintage or at least classic looking. On the other hand someone else may be more likely to buy a modern aero rig and cares nothing for old rigs. There is no wrong answer. Like has been said, it comes down to what will sell the most. Which ever the case, it seems to me that between the plastic releases of today and the resin options that we have today, as truck builders we have more options now than we have ever had. Whatever this release will be I wish them the best, and hope it sells well. I’ve personally been glad to see all of the re-releases over the past few years flaws and all. As far as a movie truck release goes, I personally wouldn’t expect anything 100% accurate. I could realistically see the California Hauler kit with a 351 hood and maybe a few extras released as the “Duel” truck, or the R-Model released with the old Ertl Rubber Duck extras. Just a thought. I will be looking forward to what ever the release will be, but realistically I will probably never get built what I already have.?
  18. Where can I find these Phil Jensen articles?
  19. I’m pretty sure that it is the real truck. Charles has developed a giant shrink ray.
  20. Very nice and clean build!! I like the paint scheme!! What color yellow is that?
