  1. Ya can still get a new Octo-Auto Harry but it's Japanese ... http://www.gaura.com/ev/kaz/index_e.html
  2. Thanks for the compliments guys, it was fun. Good point Harry. We only do club projects once or twice a year and the project is voted on by the members. Majority rules ya know. Members don't have to participate but all usually do. It's good for a few chuckles too at the unveiling because we have a couple of twisted individuals who come up with of some very off the wall builds.
  3. That's right, I built it in 7 hours. My local model club decided to have a 'club build'. Any pre '49 street rod. I HATE club projects so I did it the next day to get it over with and back to goofing off. It's nothing fancy and no extra details. Parts box wheels, tires, headers, carbs and air cleaner. Build pics here ... http://public.fotki.com/old-hermits-garage/25th-scale-cars/29-roadster/

  5. Whatthahellizat Didja run outa meds Chuck, or didja find some good ones
  6. If ya don't have display room when you finish this one I have an extra shelf in my garage. hint, hint.
  7. I'm not much for this type of car but you have done an excellent job Cato. The "pre raced" finish is perfect.
  8. My daily driver ... 78 box stock porthole Pinto My babies ... My other vehicles ...
  9. 5 min 37 sec ... 8 minutes ... Why bother locking it ??????????????
  10. Got the interior done with what I could find in the parts box. T seats, Deuce dash, Lindy pedals and resin steering wheel. She's finished and ready to start collecting dust. heh heh heh.
  11. I'm going back to snap tites!!!!!
  12. I still haven't finished the interior but I wanted some outside pics. More pics here ... http://public.fotki.com/old-hermits-garage/8thscalemodels/moon-runner-wip/page3.html
  13. Decals & clear ...
  14. The cammer was produced by Jeff at Retro Resin in RP then cast in resin and let me tell ya, it's VERY NICE !!!!! I rolled out before daylight this AM and shot the second stage of paint. While waiting for it to dry I cut a new fuel tank on my lathe. Fittings/cap are Lindy. I'm using the base coat/clear coat method so it wasn't long before I could unmask it and do a mock up. There are a few spots I need to touch up where the paint bled under the tape but nothing major. Decals this afternoon and clear coat tomorrow.
  15. I now have a Frankland rear under this beast. It was ROUGH when I got it and has taken some effort to make servicable. It still isn't real good but it works for me. She is on her feet and I put the first coat of paint on today. Tomorrow I'll mask it off and put the second part of a two tone paint job on her. Decals tomorrow or Monday then clear Tuesday. I still have some work on the chassis and interior to do. Heres pics ... http://public.fotki.com/old-hermits-garage/8thscalemodels/moon-runner-wip/page2.html
  16. I gotta agree wid ya Chuck, It is the coolest !!!!! Hmmm, wonder how it would look in 1/8 scale ? I see a future project.
  17. VERY impressive and after looking at all that eye candy I need a cigarette
  18. I've built a few too and glad to see more people doing it... http://public.fotki.com/old-hermits-garage/motorcycles/18-scale/ Don't laugh to hard ... I don't dust !!!!! That CHP bike is perfect fodder for building old style chops too. You can modify the frame to a rigid fairly easily ... and it's real easy to extend the glide front end ... .
  19. Don & Hunter make good points Drew. I don't "build to compete" but I do enter shows just to show what can & is being done in large scale. (about the only thing I build anymore) I also enjoy talking with other modelers about their builds and pestering them about "how they did it" heh heh heh. You can learn a lot by looking and asking questions. Take your camera too, you can go back and look at the pics to get inspiration or details you want to remember. As Hunter said, "the main thing is to have fun and keep getting better".
  20. Great show, great hospitality by the host club and a BUNCH of fantastic models !!!!! Here are my pics ... http://public.fotki.com/old-hermits-garage/shows/carolina-kustom-mod/ Here is Best of Show ...
  21. Thanks for the compliments guys. The rear wheels are resin from Jeff Palmer and the front are from a Lindberg Exterminator dragster kit. I wish they made a 40 ford or late 50's/early 60's car in 1/8 scale Luke. I'd definately build a proper shine hauler. I could stick a mason jar or ceramic jug on the front seat just for you. (edited for punctuation)
  22. Here is what I hope it will look like when I'm finished ... Frame, suspension and bed, will be scratch built and most everything else except the body and engine scratched or robbed from the parts box... Heres the start ... The Cammer ... Front suspension ... Rear frame section & springs ... Heres a mock up ... The bed ... Build pics here ... http://public.fotki.com/old-hermits-garage/8thscalemodels/moon-runner-wip/ .
  23. Heres a good place to start ...
