  1. I started a thread for this build in the Model Trucks section just to keep it all in one place. I will post updates there and drop a link here. I got the truck & trailer painted this AM ... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37856&st=0&gopid=390555&
  2. I got the truck & trailer painted this AM. The trailer is dull aluminum & all that's left is to paint the lights and a few other details. The truck is Testors Bronze and will need clear before going any further. Anybody know where I can get colored, in scale wire for the pigtail & air lines ?
  3. It's OK for GM, Ford & Chrysler to do it with the Camaro, Mustang & Challenger but not OK for VW to do it with the Bug ????? It's called Marketing, what was old is new again.
  4. A Hot Shot can be any number of trucks from pickups to semi's Justin. They are used to transport LTL, expedited, time critical or 'Hot' loads. Several major companys have dedicated fleets just for these type loads. Heres some pics ...
  5. You're probably right Justin but a Hot Shot is a commercial freight hauler so I thought this section would be appropriate. If anybody has a problem with it, I'll move it.
  6. I solved my gap between the sleeper & cab problem ... and since this will haul a goose neck trailer I made a new tail gate ... I haven't decided on a color yet but I think it might end up being black ... I also started on the trailer today. It's a fairly simple build. I didn't like the kit wheels so I got some chrome ones from the parts box. I'll finish painting it and the truck when it quits raining here. All the build pics are here ... http://public.fotki.com/old-hermits-garage/25th-scale-trucks/mcm-community-build/ I'll post all updates here and drop a link in the community build thread. .
  7. First thing was to cut & stretch ... I had to remove the back half of the gas tank and relocate it back to the original position ... Now I've got to fill, sand & smooth the joints. I filled in the front of the sleeper I cut off the Pete and located the window. Gotta fill the rough edgeas and more sanding. The truck had small ledges in the window opening for the glass that had to be removed also. I've gotta figure out something for the rubber seal between the cab and sleeper. Heres a simple mock up to test fit. .
  8. I'm building a Hot Shot rig in the Tractor Trailer Community Build but thought it needed it's own thread. I went digging in my stash and came up with these. Since I have a sleeper I just cut off a Pete I'm going to extend the Ford for it.

  10. Thanks for the link Matthew. I solved my gap between the sleeper & cab problem ... and since this will haul a goose neck trailer I made a new tail gate ... I haven't decided on a color yet but I think it might end up being black ... .
  11. I started my Hot Shot today and James, you are right about the frame. I'll be adding a little more filler than you after stretching it. heh heh heh. First thing was to cut & stretch ... 12. With all that fuel you could do a NY to LA run without stopping for diesel! Wait a minit, ya a gonna need an overweight permit for fuel.
  13. Thanks for letting me join in Matthew. I went digging in my stash and came up with these. First is the hot shot. Since I have a sleeper I just cut off a Pete I'm going to extend the Ford for it. The TT will be the new KW and Reefer. I might change the tractor later as I'm bidding on a couple of older ones on e bay.
  14. Excellent build. How long did it take ?
  15. Put my name on the list too. I'll do a hot shot and a TT rig. Hot shot will be a kit bash of three kits and I don't know yet what the TT will be. I'll post pics of the kits later today.
  16. Why would it have to be rear wheel drive ? Any new full size sedan, no matter what make. Maybe the dealers would get back into it if they didn't have to spend several million dollars on one car. Like the old saying said, "Race on Sunday, Sell on Monday". Exactly, a true STOCK car.
  17. She's finished except for the fifth wheel. Paint's still wet. More pics here ... http://public.fotki.com/old-hermits-garage/25th-scale-trucks/359-pete-day-cab/
  18. First, good job on a box stock snap kit Chuck. Second, Even though "stock cars" haven't been stock since the 60's I think the fan base would be a lot better if the teams had to buy a new car from the dealer and modify it to race like they used to. That's where a LOT of the innovations we see in cars came from. Just my 2 cents.
  19. When I think of a "Master Modeler" the first thing that comes to mind are the commercial & architectural model builders that build all the great stuff we see in films, tv, and advertizing. Like these guys ... http://merrittproductions.com/index.php?menuorder=1
  20. Cool build. The Lindberg Dodge COE chassis looks a lot better with a GMC body on it.
  21. Sharp looking build, I like the old cabin cruisers.
  22. I cut the bunk off the interior and made a rear wall out of sheet styreen ... I found some chrome 1/4 fenders and mounted them with streight pins & styreen tube. The tires in the kit are no name junk so I took some Goodyears from the parts box. I covered the remaining sleeper floor with the kit catwalk and added some more to extend it to the fifth wheel plate. Engine is box stock and painted Cat yellow. The Titan cab is in the purple pond after I screwed up the paint. Hopefully the Pete will get painted tomorrow if I don't screw it up too. Might as well admit it now, I'm not much of a painter. More to come later ... .
  23. It's been a long time since I built a 1/25 road tractor so I dove head first into two at once. The first is a Chevy Titan 90 and the second is a 359 Pete. Both will be working trucks. The Chevy will be box stock, mostly dechromed with some road grime and the Pete will get a little splice & dice treatment. Heres a couple of pics of the Titan so far ... The pete is the cheap snap kit so if I screw it up it wont hurt so much. I wanted a day cab so this is where the splice & dice comes in ... I had to remove the sleeper floor and notch behind the cab for the rear wall. More to come ...
  24. Don't think I've ever seen a shiney bull hauler unless it was brand new!!!!! Most of them look like this. Heres a couple of pics I found of the interior. And here is a virtual tour of one. It takes a little while to load http://www.omafra.gov.on.ca/english/livestock/beef/cushion/rear.html?initialView=-0.708,197.654,50.000 .
  25. What engine is in the AMT Cat dozier ?????
