Re: '66 Buick. The engine in the kit is pretty good, actually. The Manifold, Carbs, and Velocity Stacks for the optional 4 pairs of Webber Carbs are still in the kit. A nice set of Promo Style 5 spoke Buick Mags are on the chrome tree too. The have the huge Promo-Style axle bosses on the back. Really weird that they wound up there. Not much else remains in the box though. All of the parts shown in the instruction sheet (FOR THE ENGINE ONLY) are still on the sprues in the box. If Round2 were to bring it back, I would encourage them to leave the huge Racing wheels, and Rolls bars, Skid Plates, Ect in the kit, and use the treaded Steamroller Tires from the old Batmobile Kit, to allow the wheel wheels/fenders to be kit back to still build it as a Dirt Track car. Fix the Body, restore the other original parts, and you would have a true 3'n'1 kit.

AMT 1/25 2021 Bronco First Edition
stavanzer replied to Jordan White's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Posted 1 hour ago "I With this in mind, I have questions about many of the AMT/MPC kit choices so perhaps someone here could shed some light. In light of the information above, I wonder based on the previous poster what the long-term prospects for the also coming 2021 Ford Bronco are. It is apparently a no-engine mould, and of an SUV type vehicle. Once the vehicle gets updated/replaced in the "for real world size" will people still want those kits? I must do much of my research on places like Scalemates, but it seems that earlier Ford Bronco kits get reissued seldom. The 1979 version will be out for the first time since it was a new car kit, other than a spot run with a drag racer car included. Yet it is the Coronet making all the passion here. I think that speaks to the emotion of this subject. Talk about the 2021 Bronco has been less than any of the new moulded kits announced here. " Re; the 2021 Bronco. Ford has plans for this Platform/Car to run quite a long time. Other's can speak to that in more detail, but Ir seems a great candidate for a New Tool Kit. The fact that Ford is suppling CAD Info tells me that Ford is betting that this is a great Long Term Bet, also. I do not see many of the market for this kit being turned off by it being curbside. The Engine Bay in new cars is an awful mess, and truthfully, impossible to render in a scale form that does not look awful. Given how the Ford Factory plays with Bumpers, Grilles, Flares, Hoods and other trim items, I can see a base kit with a a separate hood, and a few other exterior trim pieces that can be swapped at will leading to a ton of different boxings, all done by changing Trip Parts, Hood, and Wheels, as well as the decals for the Graphics that are so important on Modern Cars. I believe that Round2 & Ford have rightly judged that this will be a long term project that will generate revenue for many business cycles. As to the Promo Question, I have no clue. I truly have no idea how big the Promo Market is, or if it even exists in any real form for new cars anymore. It may only be a market for cheap Die Casts these days. -
Lovely photos of that Gasser. Now to build it as a State Trooper car, as shown a couple pages back, LOL!!

Amen, Tim B! The new "Uber-Kits" just lose me anymore. Great for the Guys who like 'em, but sheer torture to everybody else. And, to judge from most comments on this and the other Forum, Most builders while they admire and even envy, the Uber-Builders, do not really want to put in the time and effort to achieve that level of mastery. And there is one Datum point we never really get to see. How many of these Super-Detail Kits, ever get finished. Even the Airplane and Armour guys who regularly see 350-900 piece kits, seem to build fewer of them....... It seems Atlantis and Round2/AMT/MPC/ect. have found a profitable niche, and are busy mining it. And Finding and exploiting that niche is the whole point of these companies, at the end of the week. Coke License? Fine! Ed Roth Sponsorship? Fine! Re-Tooled older kit? Fine! Brand new 2021 Ford? Fine. Extortion? Bad! Theft" Bad! Poor Kit Choice? Meh.. Bad Quality Control? Not so Good..... So, on the spectrum of choices that are being made, I am overjoyed with what is being done, on the whole. Do I have my peeves about Round2's kits in some cases? Yes!! 1. Three in one kits with only 4 tires? 2. Omitted optional parts that I think should have been in the kit? 3. Tiny Decal sheets? (not so much any more) 4. A general feeling of just having "Phoned-In" the kit, with poor choices (Well, what I think were poor choices), on options, blocked off parts, tires, and general processing? Heck Yeah.... But, that does not reflect the last few months product from Round2. Changes have been and, are continuing. Things are looking much better, and even kits with no real change in contents ('76 Chevy Caprice) are coming out with better boxing and decals. So I, for one, am very pleased!

I just have to say this. Justin, if your comments about this kit on the board, are in ANY WAY representative of how you talk to your customers about the kits on your shelves, I am suddenly glad that I am not able to buy from you in person. It may not be, but that is sure how you sound... The somewhat Strident, "No Prisoner's Taken" approach to this kit, is frankly a real Turn-Off, no matter how nice you may be in person. After reading your comment here, I would not feel comfortable purchasing this kit from you. I don't want to spend my hard earned Hobby Budget, just to be silently judged for buying the 'wrong' kit. I think I would do Mail Order with on of the Biggies, and not be looked down on. Sorry.

Thanks, Steve! I did not have a clue about the History of that kit. Is this a Full Size Monaco kit too? http://www.showrods.com/showrod_pages/mission_impossible.html http://www.showrods.com/images/mission_impossible/mission_big.JPG

Slicks would be nice, but are easy enough to source. If you don't have any in your stash, I have plenty.

Various versions of the MPC Squarebody have come with both the Buckets & an oddly shaped bench, so both were tooled. Here are the '68 and '68 Coronet Instructions. Guess what parts might still be hiding in the tool cavity! I hope the West Coast Trailer Mirrors, Custom Grille, Injector Stacks & Manifold. and Clear Hood Scoop make it! Notice the '69 adds some minimal Police Gear for the roof. (and Radio Antenna, but no Radio inside!!). https://modelkitreviews.proboards.com/thread/1243/mpc-68-dodge-coronet-convertible https://modelkitreviews.proboards.com/thread/1243/mpc-68-dodge-coronet-convertible Then there is this. Magnum GT II. Kit experts can tell us how this kit connects to the Coronets, but the Bucket Seats, Chassis and many other parts appear to come right from the Coronet Kit. I really like the Custom Dash Board, and LSR Single Seat Option. https://modelkitreviews.proboards.com/thread/433/mpc-magnum-gt-ii

Izzat a Bell & Howell 8mm Movie Projector, in front of the TV Screen? It looks a lot like the one my Dad still has.

I am curious to see the tires in the kit.

1/24 Revell '79 ('81?) Chevrolet Camaro Z/28
stavanzer replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It is a decent kit, but it suffers from "MPC Fit Issues". Needs much massage or "Fettling" as our British friends, say. And the engine intake options have always been weak. But, I like it. -
Great Idea, Roland.

Dump Trucks in DFW Area
stavanzer replied to Jim B's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There is a category on Driver Logs, called "Off Duty @ Wellsite", used for oilfield Class 8 Trucks. It allows a truck driver to essentially pause his "On-Duty" 70 Hour Weekly Clock, so that he can preserve his driving hours. If those dump truck work for oilfield contractors, that may explain the sleepers. -
