"Dry Lakes & Drag Strips" Lots of photos, and some great info, about how the cars were built, who built them, and what the Dry lake & 1940s-1950s So Cal Car Culture was like.

Great Build. The weathering is very realistic. I like the colours you chose. -

MPC 1981 Chevy Stepside Pickup Sod Buster (1:25 SCALE)

This Right Here! We know that the tooling for at least one dirt bike is ready to go. Throw one in the back of the Stepside. Or, as Luc says, release a Dirt Bike Race Team. I'd prefer a pickup to a Van, but the Dodge, Chevy and Ford Vans, have all been molded in the recent past. I'm not sure about a trailer, but maybe the trailer from the recent '63 Wagon could hold a bike or two. Throw in a sprue full of tool from one of the recent "Top Shop" tool sets, and you have a complete Dio-in-a-Box. -

Amen Brother! A Dirt Bike, or a pair of them would be just awesome! -
Wedding went off without a hitch! Bride was beautiful (as all brides are) and the ceremony was brief but meaningful. All is well, for now. That is the last one, out of the nest.

Wish I could get up there and see it! My Dad is an Alumni of Chico State. I lived in Chico from 1967-1972, before moving to Bakersfield. -
Only image I can find of another '59 Chevy Hot Rod in Oz. From the Movie "Over the Hill". Not sure if the Mad Max Chevy and the OTH Chevy are the same car, but there cannot be that many RH Drive '59 Chevies down there.

Both Monogram and Johan kitted Caddy V-16s. I'd offre one, but I sold those kits off. -

I am glad you are, but truly having kids and grandkids has made me a better man. It has not been easy (my youngest spent 18 out of his first 24 months in Hospital), but he is the one getting married tomorrow. So, I am happy.

Don't Know about that. I suspect the Steelies and 2WD will wind up in another kit, which I am betting will be a longbed. Just my own thoughts on future boxings of the kit. -

I'm building Walt's Bronco using the Monogram Bronco. (again the wrong year, but all I could get) As for decals, You might try searching the 6000 plus decals in this guys store. He might have them. Lots to like here! Stepside Bed, roll bar, & tailgate accessories. Rear Step Bumper MPC Desert Dog Tires Improved Grille Fresh Decals (Maybe we will even get some options for wheels) This will be a great little pickup! Thanks for sharing these pics! -
I had all of the ERB Martian Books too. And the Pellucidar series, and all 42 Tarzan books too. I'm going to have to find the Green Ghost book. I've never read it.

Had my son's Wedding Rehearsal Dinner last night, and finally got to meet her parents. What a Hoot! Everybody seems to be okay so far, though. Her folks are from Connecticut, and we are Californians. The differences in style and temperament were real, but easy enough to adjust to. Boy, what intense people. I was nervous about meeting them, since we had heard so much about them, before the meeting. They were much nicer than advertised. Wedding is tomorrow, so It will be all over with Sunday. I am ready for all the preps to end, and have it over with. The last month has been crazy.

What a great Build. I've never seen this car before. Back in the old days, they were willing to try anything to go faster.
