Great Idea. I like this build, and will watch to see how it goes. -
Wow< outstanding Work! What a great project of a great car.

Looking better & better, David!

What good looking dogs.

Amen, Brother! The last time I remember seeing a Z that I liked was the 280. And that has been a long time ago.
-
Thanks, Carl. That means a lot to me.

Round2, Can you bring this one back, Stat! What a great Kit! I'd need at least 4 of 'em.
-
Very Nice! Clean Work.

Yeah, the Edsel Flopper would make a great kit to have back. I am betting we will never see it again, though. Really Sad.
-
Funny, I like the Matilda Kit. Could you post pics of the Contents? It is a neat variant on the Tool, and has unique parts that have never been seen again.
-
Yeah, I'm hoping to pick one up, myself. Ditto on the Bronco.

The Fenders are a Great Addition.

Thanks, Guys. I guess I will try to hit it lucky on my monthly trip to the store. (I hate not being able to drive anymore!!)

Some More I'd like to see off the Current Van tooling. First Up: This hits all the right cues. And the little Honda has was in the Dodge Pickup kit, IIRC. Or This one: Again, the tires were just seen in the most recent Chevy Van kit, and would be great here. And lastly one that has unique parts seen in no other version of the kit (especially that Round Domed Sunroof) Mix or match all the parts in these kits. Since AMT Back in the day had parts trees labeled A,B, or C that changed the base kit, go back to what works. Throw a couple of thos trees in a new Ford Van kit, add funky decals, Instant New Kit! Of course, the Six Wheeler is my grail for these kits. I'd like to see it most of all.

Has anybody seen the MPC 34 Ford Slammer Kit at HL? I got the 36 Chevy Wild One kit there last week, and was hoping to get the Slammer as a Mate for the Chevy. Thanks!

Oh, I was not sure about the Big Game truck only having the spokes. I was mistaken. Yes, I meant tires...... (sigh)

This Rocks. For a 'simple' build, you certainly hit a Home Run. Congrats on the Win! -
Awesome. I remember reading the article in SAE, back in the day. It still looks great!

Strangely Enough, those wheels are in the two most recent issues, The Plow Truck and the Big Game Country pickup. Notice too, that the wheels are going in opposite directions on the 2 sides.
-
It is because they know how badly those tires look for the right side, IMHO. But, just to prove that it wasn't always so, the Original GMC High Roller Box, with the tires in question.

Stef, think of these as "Potato Chip Kits". You cannot build just one. The Model King Tempests have gotten Stupid Expensive online, but there are lots of them out there, and if you don't mind making up your own paint and decals, you can turn out tons of these simple , Fun kits. They are fun!

Any Chance AMT Might Backdate The Dodge Van?
stavanzer replied to oldcarfan's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I'm thinking of a much more modest re-working of the kit. By sticking to to what can be accomplished with just grille alterations, and adding parts that have already been tooled, I hope to offer Round2 an idea that could have better ROI. The Steel Wheels, and Tools have already been done, and are in small trees that lend themselves to mix'n'match boxing. You could add in the Ubiquitous, Newly Tooled 5 Spoke Mags that have been seen in many recent kits too. Round2 seems to be more open to product variants that require little investment on the one hand, and huge Clone-the-Past projects on the other hand. I pitch this as a Minimal Cost, New Product Kit. Throw in some Light Bars, and Police / LEO Decals and you can sell a Cop Roadside Investigation/ repair truck, and add Commercial Decals and you'd have a Work Van. Those "Blue Sprocket" decals from the Dodge P/U would be a natural, and a Sunoco Branded Service Unit would be a good fit with the latest Tie-In. I agree, that a new Back-dated Grille would be great, and sell more kits, but even just adding current parts from other kits, could brighten this kits future sales.
