What would YOU like to see as a model
stavanzer replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Of Course, you can dream! The Number One car on my list of Dream Models is the 1912 Mercer Raceabout, in 1/25 Scale to go with the MPC Stutz Bearcat. It'll never happen, but like you, I can dream. -

I just sold a pair of those '69 Camaros. I like them, but many folks think they are terminally mis-shapen. Slixx, makes a set of Red Alert Camaro decals, and given the right Chevelle Kit, you can build a reasonable copy. The Mavericks and Comets are all Johan tooling and remain pricey collectors items. -
Gray, you are probably remembering this kit. From the Late 1970's I believe. It is a Victoria (aka Vicky) not quite a Tudor Sedan.

23 Skidoo is 1920's.. (Don't ask me how I know.) ?
-
I graduated in 1981. 'Rad' was dated slang in my youth.... I'd prefer "23 Skidoo" or "Bee's Knees"
-
"Cool" "Rad" ???? Chad seems to be about 30 years too young to be so heavily reliant on those words, LOL! The "Californian" Show car will sell in large numbers, but only to donate parts for many neglected Toronado builds. I am glad to see it, but I think Round2 is going to catch a whole bunch of flak for bringing it out. Cue the usual "Why'd did they waste time/money/effort re-popping that when they could have brought out something (I like ) better", comments. Well, I suspect that Round2 found the molds ready to go with minor cleaning, saw how much they sell for on the auction sites, and decided to sell a few themselves. They ARE in the Re-Popping Nostalgia business after all. The Foxy Box is the same lame Chevy Van tooling trotted out again, with a few more custom accessories than the "Dirty Donnie" van kit. Nice to see it out, but Chad's Oversell of the kit, had me embarrassed for his sake. That level of fawning, butt-kissing should never be done in public, let alone in front of a camera..... The Two Chevy Race cars, (Nova and Monte Carlo) are logical and needed releases. Both should fly off the shelves. It is great that the GTO Super Stocker has a stablemate. I hope some of the rest in that series see the light of day soon. With it being Nova Season, the little Rat Packer kit was a no brainer. Glad to see it. Given the current market, it will be snapped up for OOB Builds, Kit Bashing, and other uses. Can we get the Tempest back next, please. The TV Tommy Kit is nice to see. It should sell well, especially with new decals. The Rupp Super Sno Sport, is the odd one to me. I cannot believe that there exists enough demand for this one yet. The secondary market seems to have plenty of these, but I am often wrong. It has been 12-13 years since it was last out, so there is a whole new generation of builders who have never seen or built it. I hope it sells well too. All in all, a decent Jan Report. Truthfully, I am waiting for the next 'Surprise Kit" in the vein of the Nova Wagon. I am sure there is something brewing of the same calibre. I hope I get to see what it is.

The old joke is: What ever you are doing at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve, is what you'll be doing all year. (Thus the hopeful kissing, LOL) This year, at the Stroke I was at work, away from my lovely wife. However, given the events of the last 2 years, I was truly pleased to be working at that time. I'd prefer to be able to work all year, given the way things have been lately. I have been truly Blessed in the last few months. House is warm, Pantry is full, Mortgage gets paid, and all are healthy. For as much as I (and many of us) gripe, I cannot really complain. I have All I Need, and more than I want. It just doesn't get better than that! Lastly, celebrated my 27th Anniversary on Dec 22! So, I have plenty to be pleased about. Not bragging, just noting that I really do not have any real cause to complain.

After watching Utube Vids and reading more about these... Now I want one! Drat!

Well, my '34 Sedan kit arrived. Time to start the build. Can't decide if I should cover it with gear, and stowage or build a cleaner, more buttoned-down car. Any Thoughts?

I have a very ambitious build schedule planned. 4. kits. 1. Peking 2 Paris Group Build, AMT 1934 Ford Tudor Sedan. 2. Cannonball Group Build Birth Year Car. MPC 1963 CJ-5 Jeep. 3. LSR Record Attempt Car. AMT 1964 Olds Convertible. 4. Gasser Build. 1950-51 Revell Thames Panel Dragster. I know this is a couple months work for most of you (and a 2 weeks for HPI Guy), but It looms large for me. I have all the kits. I need a Blown Hemi for the Thames Gasser, and some more Widgets, Boxes and Crates for the P2P Car, but I have everything else. The Jeep is a straight Box-Stock build, and the Olds just needs the Moon Discs from an AMT 1963 Avanti to complete, as everything else I need is in the box or, has already been Found. NOw, I just need to get them built. Cheers!

Try hunting up Audio books done by Campbell Scott. (George C. Scott's son. and yes the "C" is George C. Scott is Campbell) He has a smooth, distinctive voice. My wife and I have listened to him read "Time after Time" many times.

Lost a good friend early this morning.

Mods, this link is to an article in the Daily Mail about this incident. Please delate if it causes trouble. Johnny, I am so sorry for the loss. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10360823/Two-arrested-fatal-shooting-veteran-Illinois-police-officer-36-hour-manhunt.html -
Moebius 1964 Nova SS - first detailed look inside the box...
stavanzer replied to tim boyd's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Rick, you are going to beat Moebius to the punch. I'll bet a stock '65 is in their planning as well. Looking forward to what you wind up building. -
It would be great to see this kit back out. If we got the '64 Olds back (in 2 body styles, natch) this could happen someday. But, I'm still waiting for the new Round2 versions of the Old AMT 32 Coupe and Phaeton kits. All we have gotten from Round2 is the Vicky. And, it was Great! I'd just like to see the same magic (New Decals. Better Tires, and restored Parts) applied to the Rest of the original AMT '32 Ford kits.

1/25 AMT Surf Shark 1959 Cadillac Ambulance
stavanzer replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Cue up the Arguments about which kit is better, AMT or Polar Lights in 3...2...1....... Not a kit I am interested in, but I'll be happy to see what it looks like. -
I have 2 black ones and a red one in my stash right now. One Mint kit and two gluebombs. Curious to see what tires wind up in the kit.

Wiki Link. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lanz_Bulldog They were used all over Europe, and also in Argentina and Australia. It looks like the one place they were not used is North America. The American Tractor Industry was robust enough to keep a primitive tractor like the Lanz from gaining much of a foothold here. But, neat looking machines. One would certainly make a great load for the huge Krupp Titan truck the Revell just put out.
