  1. Great Matador! I need to find one of these kits.
  2. Noel. Lindberg ended up with most of the Pyro tooling. The Inpact Biplanes have been seen in Lindberg boxes up until the early 2000's. I have some of the kits. The Inpact molds have been very well taken care of, and comparing the most recent kits in my stash with an old original Inpact kits shows little signs of wear. The Triumph GT6 coupe was also out in a Lindberg box with the last ten years. Had decent decals, vinyl tires, and a few options to build, but the Multi-piece body was very unpopular, and I'm not sure how well it sold. There is a decent kit review of the Triumph over at ModelingMadness.com Look under "Kit Previews -L" You should find it. Looking at Round2's "Lindberg" pages shows a large number of what must be ex=Pyro tools, in production. I really want the Civil War Blockade Runner and the "Q"-Ship. HTH Alan
  3. Dollar Stores are a great place to get basic tools cheaply. I get all my sanding sticks from the Nails/Cosmetics section, and have found various small clamps, and small hand tools. ( A pair of small pliers with some tape on the jaws and a rubber band around the handle can sometimes clamp things that clothes pins are too big or awkward to handle) Of course you can get masking tape, and some CA Glue there too. Even cheap "Not-Excato" knife sets, that while mostly lousy can get some blades and a plastic mitre box for a buck. Just the thing for when the LHS is closed and you need more knife blades now! Walk the aisles and see what jumps out at you.
  4. Brian, both of my Jo-Han Turbine kits (both the original issue and a 90's re-pop) had short shot exhaust ducts. It was the same pieces in both kits. That must have been some kind of ongoing issue with the tool itself. The re-pop had a much bigger had a much bigger "shortage' than the original did.
  5. That looks like a Heck of a Lot of Fun! Superb Build. I really like the patina in the paint job. Stance and wheels are perfect, as well.
  6. Great! Another Round2 kit that just shifted to "Must-Have" status. Both the Charger and the Deora are both Kits I just have to buy.
  7. Two Thumbs Up! I too, like your Exhaust Header Treatment. That's how I plan to build mine too.
  8. Just bumping this build. It is way beyond awesome, and shows some truly Masterful Tips. R.I.P. John.
  9. Your are correct, Richard. I'll not speak anymore about the Auburn. I hope Round2 can use your suggestions. I'd like to see the kit updated too.
  10. Because, Harry, back then Raised Lines on the kit were made by engraved lines in the mold. To get Engraved lines, you had to put raised ridges INSIDE the Mold Tool. It was (in most cases) far easier and cheaper to do almost all detail by raised lines. Since Raised Detail (Lines, Rivets, Doors, ect) was the "Gold Standard" of kit detail to the 8-12 year old KIDS who bought 95% of these kits, they did not share our modern preference for engraved lines. That why those "Stone Age" Tool & Die Men did it that way. They were selling TOYs to KIDs. Raised Detail was Better Detail. Thus Raised Lines. Hope that helps.
  11. Man, that grille shell (or at least a smaller version) would really go good on the new 29 A Roadster. Maybe an enterprising resin caster will work something up. That is a whole lot better than "just" a 32 shell! The odd, slightly bulged look, and added bars really says 1950's Hot Rod to me.
  12. Thanks, for the review, Chris. I watched a couple others on Youtube, and yours was by far the best. Crisp Detail close ups, nice long looks at the trees, and a pleasant tone. Well Done, and Thanks. Alan
  13. I believe the colour it is molded in is referred to as "Electric Tomato". I could be wrong on that though.
  14. John R. makes a good point. If you just want to just slap a kit together, for the sake of the old days, you could do worse than these 60 year old Pyro Relics. (not much worse, but that's a quibble) As others have pointed out, getting a Silk Purse out of this Sow's Ear, will take a good bit of work, a donor kit for the wheels, a truck load of skill and persistence, and a dollop of luck. But his basic point remains. If you just want a shelf model of an Auburn, jump in and have Fun.
  15. Those are NOT Trans Am tires. Yet more evidence that this was a second tier effort.
  16. I've never owned that Cuda kit. Now I'll have a chance to. Thanks, Round2!
  17. I like the builds. The Grey better than the Black. I see this kit finished in the awful "Powder Blue" that was a Ford colour for the 70's/80's. Oddly, I'll bet the 'Kats at AMT' have guessed that those "awful" decals will sell a bunch of these kits. I'm betting they have guessed right, too.
  18. Yes, Greg, we do. And given the Long Green that was laid out to get the Three Stooges Licensing, it only makes sense to extend the brand. This kit will sell more to "Three Stooges" collectors than model builders, I am guessing. Also, I want Round2 to make as much Money as possible, so that maybe they'll Fund the 29 / Ala Kart kit. That's business.
  19. Dennis, I stand corrected. Your work is simply Outstanding! I have a new tool Ala Kart in my stash. It was shipped 'factory sealed' with two beds and no body. Now I have some ideas where to use the parts. Thanks. Alan
  20. Yeah, and when the "A Team" at Round2 does a kit, the 'love' that they have for the History of the Kit and the Hobby are clearly evident. When they are at the top of their game, it really shows. My olny real peeve, is when you get kits like the '79 Firebird, that are just clearly a case of "Phoning It In". I'm spoiled by the really good kits with all the missing parts restored and multiple sets of tires, ect. I'd surely vote for restoring this Model A / Ala Kart kit being the next major kit they tackled. Alan
  21. Sharp Build , Sir. I'll be doing One or Two of these myself.
  22. Christian, I really like where this is going. Colours are great, and period correct. I'll be waiting to see what wheels you choose. Mine will have a set of AMT 1970 Vette, Rallye Sport Rims.
  23. Steve, that is Awesome! It looks like a Hot 'Shine Tanker, too. All Business. What's the engine compartment look like? Alan
  24. I have two of the 25th anniversary, Yellow box Model A kits. Got Both from eBay, about 10 years ago. This was one of the first model car kits I ever built (in 6th grade). That Box art is imprinted in my memory forever. Bring that kit, back to the way it was originally, use that Yellow Box Art, and give us an expooanded decal sheet, and I'm in for a case!
  25. The last Issue of the A in the Walmart boxing, had about 60% of the Ala Kart in the box, including the unique Ala Kart grille insert (but not the Grille shell). And the hood. The Fenders, Body, Tuck& roll top, and Interior are there too. The Frame is there, but most of the suspension has been altered. The Ala Kart Bed is missing too, The Chrome tree, that featured the "Red Ram Hemi" valve covers, Firewall, and windshield frame, is in the kit, but not chromed, and with about half of the parts that were on it blocked off. I'm not sure that they can be restored. IMHO, it would be a better bet to re-tool this kit back to original, rather than try to foist the early 2000's new tool Ala Kart on us. That dog of a kit is rightly condemned. Alan
