  1. The Model King Pontiac Bonneville and Boat kit. Spent $44.00 for it at a show in Los Angeles, back when I had money. Now, If I can't use the H*bby L*bby Coupon I generally don't buy. Although I do make exceptions. Bought the Revell '57 Chevy Convertible yesterday for $19.95 at the LHS.
  2. So, Is it Done yet? I've got a whole box of MPC, Monogram and Italeri Classics, just waiting for bench time. Glad to see how nice yours is looking.
  3. Quite Nice. Any other problems with the Slingster?
  4. Ace. How is this coming? I'm watching for ideas on my build of the double dragster. Your Coupe looks far better than anything I've seen so far.
  5. And where did you find a DH Gypsy Engine? Scratch Build?
  6. I saw this kit at my LHS too. I bought the Revell, '57 Chevy Convertible instead. I'm not quite ready to shell out $33.00 plus 7.85% sales tax on a kit that I have 8 copies of already. From reading the parts map on the bottom of the box, it looks like that 33 dollars buys me two very small trees of retooled suspension parts, an "Improved" decal sheet and some newly tooled tires. Nice Stuff mebbe, but not that nice. I'll get one, bit the Revell Model A is my first Priority now.
  7. They are fiddly kits, as those Revell kits of that era often are. Getting all the chassis parts to stay glued together can be a real PITA. They are however nice little kits. I've had the Meter Cheater, Medicine Van, and T-Bone Stake at one time or another. All had those truly awful Revell Two Piece tires. They used to show up on the 'Bay fairly often, and the price would vary widely. They were issued a couple times in the 1970's but have not been since to my knowledge. With Modern Tires/Wheels they are still great kits to have fun with. I'd build it, and enjoy it. There are some nice builds over at the Showrod Rally website.
  8. Rob Hall. All of the stock chassis parts for that '23 kit are on the shelves right now, as part of the '23 Delivery Van. The Hot Rod parts have not been seen since the 1970's as far as I know. Failing the Roadster, I'd settle for the Depot Hack/Express Wagon kit. I think the '27 Roadster on the existing '27 Chassis would be a huge seller for Round2. Folks have been waiting for a '27 Roadster since the mid 1960's.
  9. Totally Different Kit. There is an instruction sheet for it over at the Drastic Plastic Website. Stock or Rod options, SBC was the V-8 with 6 carbs. Kinda endearing in a 1970's way. The '25 and the '23 share no tooling at all. Multi-piece frame and a slightly better stock engine than the '25 kit. Really Clumsy looking Street Rod Running gear. (at least to me) Probably quite correct when the kit was tooled, however. http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/automotive-cars--pi/ford/1921-1930/amt-1923-ford-t-roa/
  10. Rob, that was the 1925 Model T, not the long lost '23 Roadster. It is the same base kit for the '23 T C-Cab Panel Wagon that is out now in the Hershey Kiss Decals.
  11. This is fun game. I'll play. 1. Big Oly Bronco 2. Another hit off the Revell 29/30 Model A tool.(Sedan or Woody) 3. A new Take on the Evergreen Revell 32 Deuce. (Probably by mixing parts from existing kits, combined with new decals) 4 Something really electrifying from the Vaults at Round2. Every year they find at least one "Knock-your-socks-off" kit. I have no clue what it could be. It will however attract attention and controversy. (Which sells kits) 5. Kits from Round2 that have been run in the last 15 years, but NOT in the last 5. About time for the '49 Ford to come back too. 6. And a "Swing for the Fence" guess. The AMT '23 T in both Hot Rod and stock versions.
  12. I just like the little Beasts. I would not have purchased the kit, if H*bby L*bby had put the on clearance. The tires and the Decal sheet were much nicer than the Wal-mart version I have. Other than that, I can find no difference in the plastic parts between the two. Now, a gripe, since I'm supposed to have one. Chaps my butt that Round2 Calls out the Cibie Headlights on the Retro Box Art, but didn't go to the trouble of putting the Cibie and Custom light lenses back on the Clear Sprue. Easy Enough to scratch up a set, but why highlight them, if they're not in the kit anymore?
  13. Pics? Please? Just the Tires and Decals will work.
  14. Would've been nice if Round2 had at least used the Whitewall Tires and Slicks in the Stooge kit, but that is a minor gripe. The Black Plastic is a bigger gripe, but still not much of one. If these kits make it to the Big Box Hobby store where I can use my coupon, I'll be getting one. Thanks, Round2!
  15. I see this kit is now out there. Has anybody seen the insides yet? Just wondering what the Decal Sheet looks like, as otherwise it would appear to be the evergreen Roadster/Pickup kit, in a new box, with a cardboard cutout gas station. Even so, I might wind up buying one. You can never have enough Model T kits.
  16. Like the Pontiac Gran Prix, there will be two boxings. First will be the "Original Art" Flat Box with the White Plastic. Second will be the Regular Box with the Yellow plastic. Not sure what (if any) difference there will be in the contents of the boxings. In the Gran Prix kits, the flat box had an extra set of tinted glass, a pair of slicks, and an expanded decal sheet. However, I've not read of any content changes on the Mod Rod, so it may just be what colour plastic you prefer, and whether you want the Print that will be in the flat box. We'll all know in about a week, I am guessing, as the kit is hitting store shelves as we speak, and there appears to be MASSIVE interest in seeing the contents. Somebody will post pics here.
  17. Carl, get the "Fine Molds" 1/48 Scale Blue Thunder, rather the Monogram 1/32 one if you can. The Fine Molds kit is smaller, but much better detailed. I've seen the Monogram kit go real cheap at swap meets, as few people seem to want it. The detailing in very typical 1980's Monogram, with few parts, but lots of engraved detail. The fit on my kit was "Okay" at it's best. Have fun with it, though. Alan
  18. Thanks. I see a Forest Service Rig in my future.
  19. Hey, No Fair bringing in Everett "Boxman" Westphal. But, Wow what nice work he did.
  20. I am posting this on the Corvair thread, but it may belong in hints. I have the Newest Issue of the 'Vair kit, and an older issue of the Sunbeam Tiger kit. I was trying to put some Minilite wheels on the Corvair. I can tell you that regardless of the real One-to-One rim sizes, the ones in the kits are wildly mismatched. The Minilites in the Tiger are huge compared to the smaller Astro's in the Corvair. So, No Joy on the swap. However, parts hoarding does sometimes payoff. Remember the Minilite Rims in the Revell '67 Camaro last year? the ones everybody loved to hate due to being "Undersized"? Well, they fit the larger set of tires from the newest Corvair kit, with just the slightest bit of fudging. They are at least 1/8" smaller in diameter than the Minilites in the Tiger. They may be too small for the Camaro, but I think they'll fit just fine in either the Corvair or the Tiger. So, Small they may be, but perfect for smaller cars they are. Master Yoda.
  21. I think it has little bitty tail-lights! Are the '50 :Pontiac tail-lights beloved of Rodders smaller?
  22. Ah, that what I wanted to know. I wish Revell had reused the Coupe front end, instead of the stock.
  23. Another question about the new '48 Ford Kit. Is the Nose/Grille section in pieces like the Chopped coupe? Pieces # 310-313, to allow for the custom grilles, or is it the stock only design as used in the '48 Woody?
  24. Thanks, Dave. Nothing beats having the real thing in front of you when it comes to shape issues. (Firewalls are a different horse, of course)
