  1. Thanks, for clearing that up. Sadly that means I'll have to buy both.
  2. The answer (or rather Non-Answer) to your question, Dave, may prove something about how the "lunatic fringe" is going to view this kit. Klever kollectors koncur that it's not kwite a komprehensive kompendium of Ala Kart, klearly. I know that I may be in the market for only one, and that is provided I can use a 40% off coupon to get it. Otherwise no sale. The "Restored" parts will make no big difference to me, and the Checkerbox Wal-Mart Wonder kit, I bought back in the day has nearly the same contents. So, Despite the Kats at AMT crowing about what a big deal this is, colour me, not impressed. New Tires, Some Re-tooled (but to ME needless) suspension parts, and an expanded decal sheet, will not offset the lack of a complete Ala-Kart parts restoration. I consider this a rare "Swing & a Miss" from the Kats.
  3. Are the Fuzz Duster and Smokey the Convoy Chaser based off the same kit? I think so, but I don't know for sure.
  4. Jesse, That is, hands down, my favorite clip from the movie. Sometimes I watch just that chapter of the DVD.
  5. Thanks for the Pic, Casey. Got any more?
  6. Mr. Manley, That is exactly what I have planned for mine.
  7. Keyser. Ditto! And the stock kit is coming anyway, as confirmed by Ed Sexton, who must be sick of this question by now.
  8. Well, Mine will have Dukes of Hazzard Decals on it when I build it, so I'm good for at least one.
  9. With all the Sturm und Drang over the new Revell Charger not offering the Stock version first, yet there being serious hints that one will eventually appear, I am wondering what other options there might be for another "hit" off the same tool? For that matter, I'd like to throw open the floor to all of the recent Revell tools. The Rat Roaster, the S&H Torino, '50 Merc, the blockbuster 29/30 Model A Fords. What other products could be had from these tools. I'd like to restrict the Ideas somewhat. Assume that Revell will only change Body Styles, Wheels, and the Visible parts of the engine. (Valve Covers, Intake Manifolds, Air Cleaners. Ect), as well as Hoods, and small Trim or Accessory items. What could we ask for, given those limits. I'd like to see a Model A Phaeton, most of all, as that body has been sadly neglected in Revell's Hot Rod toolings. Both the evergreen '32's and now the new "A"s, have skipped what was for a long time the best selling body style. AS far the Torino, maybe a Malaise Era Ranchero or Wagon would be possible. The Ranchero would really be great, but I'm not sure how much support it would have from a sales standpoint. There may also be wheelbase issue that I'm ignorant of, as well. The Merc stumps me. What else could you get out of it? the Hirohata Custom? The Rat Roaster would also make a nice Phaeton Rod. What ideas do you guys have? I'm eager to here of them. Alan
  10. Gahhh, Brett, you weren't kidding. Those wheel covers (or are they Hub Caps?) do indeed look odd. (At best) I'll need to put a set on at leas one Comet I build.
  11. Squad Rod & Fuzz Duster. What a pair from days gone by. I had both and really enjoyed the Squad Rod. Put out Smokey the Convoy Chaser, and the set is complete. Of course, I'll need that '80 Volare RR to complete the Collection. Maybe I can do something Cop themed with the Volare too.
  12. Greg, I'll go $2.50 each for those poor old Monogram 1/24 scale kits. And I'm in Cali,, so the shipping will be cheaper.
  13. Monty. Look at the third post in this thread. Mr Sexton said "All New Tool". Not Revised Die Cast tool. I'm pretty sure he'd know the difference. I'm equally sure he would not have called it an all new tool if it was a warmed over diecast. I could very easily been wrong, but Revell does not seem to be in the habit of shading the truth when discussing new kits.
  14. You, Know, that will look really nice next the the S&H Torino. Sort of a "Best of the Malaise" era vibe.
  15. I hear to complaints of the 'stock-only' guys. Despite the fact that Revell is probably leading off with the F&F Charger because it is not aimed at modelers, I have no doubt the "stock" kit will be coming. As with the Starsky 'Red Tomato', the primary market for the F&F kit is going to to be the Movie Fans and Collectors. Modelers (I suspect) are secondary to the sales numbers for the F&F machine. The stock kit will come later, and most likely be aimed more squarely at "us". That said, I have no doubt that another hit will be made off the tool. It seems to be a pattern with Revell lately. I can't wait to see if Revell 'extends' the S&H Torino tool. I'll bet that by 2020, we will have some other kit to build based on that tooling, however. Revell seems to be playing a sharp, solid game recently so I look forward to good things.
  16. Your Critique makes much more sense now, Dave. The rivets don't bother me since they refer to the WW2/Bomber 'vibe' that the Olive Drab car is pushing. I think that is the Tie-in that Revell is trying for. The White Walls don't bother me as much either. I've seen period photos from the forties of German, American and Soviet equipment with WW's. Oddest was the German Bomb Loading cart, with a 10" front tire with WW's and a Soviet Artillery piece with them too. I've seen several pics of P-51 Mustangs with Whites on the Main Tires, Tail Wheel Tires or all three. It was very much a "Style" thing for some of the pilots.
  17. Those decals are not loud enough. I might have to get one just to build as a Slammer.
  18. Tim, I wonder how difficult it will be to sub in a suitable Blower on this engine? I can't (offhand) think of a kit that would supply a Blower for the 312 T-Bird motor. Strange that both AMT and Revell do make blown versions of the 312, but neither is the Classic GM 6-71 set-up. Alan
  19. Brian, there are some posts on page four of this thread that deal with the engine question. There is a detail shot of the engine, in the lower left corner of the box art photo that has been posted here. Given Revell's "maximization of the tool" track record, I will guess that the only engine changes will be Headers and Valve covers. Edit: Brett beat me to it. What Brett says is probably as close as we'll get to knowing until the kit hits the shelves.
  20. Well, after buying the dreadful AMT Dukes/F&F mashup, this Revell thing has to be better. I am guessing that even if there is no 2n1 now, there will be in the future. I will buy both the first and second hits from this tool.
  21. Those Wheels and that blown Small Block are going on my '29 Roadster.
  22. So, If I'm buying only One BB Revell Nova, I should get the COPO car? I already have one of the Nova SS w/ the 350 small block.
  23. I think the Vette Van is MPC, Dave.
