1951 Ford F2

That far North, aren't they "Iron Moths"? -
Just thinking out loud. For Most of us, this is a hobby. But for a very few people, it is a Business. Just off the top of my head, I can think of a few Model Companies here in the US. Revell Round2 Salvinos JR Atlantis Williams Bros (?) Glencoe (?) How many people are employed by all these companies? My guess is that everybody employed by Model Companies would fit in just a few Greyhound Busses. (150-300) Even If you count Tamiya, and MRC, it is still a small number, I suspect. What say you guys?

Awesome Work! Can't wait to see how it comes along.

Ohhh, Now You've Done it! "Toy Cars" Indeed!!! (sarc) Yes, they are toy cars. Invented about 65 years ago, as something to give to kids to keep them occupied while Dad shops for a new car. Then, the whole business grew, and here we are, still playing with Toy Cars. Remember AMT stands for Aluminum Model Toys, after all. Not that, there's anything wrong with that. Now Guys like Wingrove, and some of the Builders here? Way beyond. They are "Miniature Craftsman" and occupy a whole different level of the hobby. But, in the end, it is a hobby. For a couple hundred folks in the USA it might be a job. For the rest of us? A Pastime. An Interest. For a few, a whole world. But, not much more. Folks who get shirty about the Hobby, i.e. "I'm NOT playing with Toys!!", are defensive about the wrong things.

These are "Thickstun: Air Cleaners. Used to be a few Resin Ones. Not Sure who makes them now. I'd try Texas 3D Customs, Iceman, VCG, or Replicas & Miniatures Co. of Maryland.

'57 El Nomado
stavanzer replied to customline's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I agree, the '57's are over-exposed. I prefer the cleaner 1955 cars. The Ferrari inspired Grille, the trim, neat lines. My favorite Chevies. But, I'll disagree on the '56 car. Bland, forgettable grill, muddy lines, none of the finesse of the '55. There is just nothing I like about them. But, I like where you are headed on your Nomad. Better to start with the sturdy Monogram kit, rather than the fiddly, fragile Revell. I've always liked the '57 hood with the 'bullets' filled in. The smooth hood just cleans up the front end. -
Looking GreaT

Finally! Revell C8 Corvette, US market model

Indeed! I can't wait to hear what you think of this kit. -
What did you see on the road today?
stavanzer replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
All Black Tesla Cyber Truck. It was a dead flat wrap (I assume) and the wheels were black too. It looks sinister in all black, but still a bit ludicrous. -
Ford has recall but won't have parts till next year.
stavanzer replied to bobthehobbyguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
It is Cost effective. Nobody from Upper Management lost their jobs. So, it works for them. And that in 2024, is the bottom line for them. Edited to add. It doesn't matter what you want. It only matters what they want. This has been the theme of the entire Globe for the last 25 years. -
I'm so sorry for your loss. It always hurts to put one down.

Accurate Miniatures Grand Sport Vette to be reissued........
stavanzer replied to Dave Van's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I suspect that whoever runs the tool, will just run it after cleaning. The cost and trouble of trying to fix the headers, will most likely never happen. Sorry. -
Better to drill holes than weld, I suppose. Remember, back then Running boards were surplus trash, discarded by every body building a Fenderless Rod.
-
Wow, I like this. Your work is Superb! Is it an English Ford of Some Kind?
-
I love the Pink! It looks so 'typical' of certain cars I used to see. And I have to say, I think the Seat/Stickers move on both of your parts is very Cool! Your Son, has a good idea.
-
Your Engine Finishing skills are First Rate. It looks very sharp.
-
I've seen brackets bolted to the Running Boards, and then U-Bolts run through the brackets. I think what you have done is just fine. Don't sweat it!
